I ordered 48"inch bathroom vanity from Vanity Art (NY) a 3rd party on Amazon web page and they use Estes Express for their shipping needs (since it's a 3rd party)Vanity Art paid a "residential delivery fee to Estes express to deliver vanity to my address.Estes arrived @ my address and was unloading without signature or inspection of $1,400 Vanity and dropping it on road side/drainage culvert.The very end of my gravel driveway - where gravel meet road (state road property!!) was Estes drivers idea of home/residential delivery! Estes explanation of drop was - we don't deliver to residential with gravel driveways-item must be dropped at street.This shipping company has been in business for 90+ years and apparently they are unaware of a "all terrain pallet jack" for delivery to driveways with gravel.Estes had a litany of excuses why they could not deliver to my property (beyond drainage cuvert)- - no piggie back,no co driver,no smaller trucks,no pallet jack that can navigate gravel,no driver cannot back truck up into driveway making a 5 point turn etc....The delivery of 4'ft bathroom vanity was overwhelmingly vexing of a challenge for this 90 yr old freight company.Finally making a last ditch polite phone call to Richmond based office and sharing the pro#( acronym for professional:Not!) the employee asked me to get a truck/or did I have a truck to come and pick it up --- and this is a want to be residential shipping company? read more

Hired Estes to move delicate electronic equipment from Arlington, VA to Pittsburgh, PA on May 17, 2023. We insured the shipment for full-value ($15K) using their Hi-Value Insurance Coverage option. Equipment was delivered seriously damaged; the enclosure cabinet has been destroyed by a fork-lift, and the metal electronics enclosures were dented from something being dropped on top. The delivery driver noticed the damange before delivery and photographed the damage and called to request instructions. We had no choice but to accept the shipment, but we noted all of the damage on the delivery form. We processed a claim through the Estes Claim department but it was denied stating "It was shippers fault for failure to protect equipment better." What were we supposed to do more than what we had already done to protect the equipment is beyond us. We sent communication to all of the Estes executives requesting intervention (we have a complete dossier incuding photos before and after, and all communication) to no avail. We have lost two pieces of equipment and all we received was an offer for a refund of shipping costs! What a joke! I will never use this worthless company again and I warn others to avoid them at every opportunity. read more

The WORST freight company ever. Damaged $60,000 of air conditioning equipment beyond repair and our corporation had to negotiate a settlement of $20,000. We have pictures of the equipment loaded on the truck at the point of origin with no damage. It's disgusting and reprehensible. Do not ever use this company. read more

I ordered Counter Tops from Home Depot and they use Estes Express for their shipping needs. I was contacted by Estes on Monday July 27th to schedule a delivery time. They were to deliver on Wednesday July 29th between noon and 5 pm. July 29th came and went and there was no delivery and no contact made be Estes. I called July 30th at 8:00 am to get an update and find out what was going on. I was told that it was never loaded into the van and that Kim would at extension 5041 would be giving me a call back. By 3:00 that call never came so I called and was put in touch with a representative who told me they couldn't do anything and just transferred me to Kims voicemail. I contacted Home Depot and they reached out to Estes and that was when productive contact was made. We spoke with Michelle and were told that the order was going to be placed on the "Hot Sheet" and our shipment would be made a priority for Today (July 31st). I was informed that the shipment would arrive between noon and 5:00 and I would receive a call 30 minutes prior to shipment arrival and if there was an issue with the delivery I would still receive a call. No call was ever received. The order never arrived. I called Estes to get an update and spoke to Michelle again and was informed that the order was lost! When I spoke to her "manager" Rachel Hicks she informed me that they were starting a search for the shipment, but that it would stretch into next week before we would receive our shipment. I am not sure WHY there needs to be ANOTHER terrible review for this company, but it gets it off my chest. Where do I start, I guess the beginning. On Friday June 1st 2018 at 3:22 PM, I placed an order with Home Depot for 28 cases (560 sf) of hardwood flooring. I realize that the order was placed too late in the day for any action on that day, not a problem I have plenty of work to do before I need it. On Monday June 4th at 2:39 PM I received a shipping conformation that the delivery date would be Tuesday June 12th, perfect I can have a week plus for it to sit and acclimate to our humidity levels before installation. So needless to say Tuesday came and went, my day off from work was, while wasted, made the best of, calls to home Depot. After plenty of on hold time while they (Home Depot) were on hold with Estes Final Mile (I wish this was their FINAL mile). I got little to no answer as to WHEN the shipment would arrive, but I did secure a $150.00 credit due to the shipment being late and now holding up a remodeling project. On Sunday June 17th (yes Father's Day) at 12:55 PM I receive an email from Estes Final Mile that the shipment is out for delivery. Okay, that seems odd, but due to the initial missed delivery date I say to my self GOOD. Cancel Father's Day dinner and wait, because I was told I would have a four hour window. Wait til 9:30 to Hell with this, I have to be up at 4 for work. On Monday June 18th at 3:00 PM I get another email from Estes Final Mile, my order has shipped, if anyone has seen Lewis Black and the shaking of the face and the jiggling cheeks, that is what I am doing. WTF yesterday it was out for delivery? More calls to Home Depot, another refund of $200.00 and now a delivery date of Friday the 22nd. 3 WEEKS! friggin weeks to come from North Carolina to Colorado, these people are not idiots, what we have here is "a walking abortion". This review will be ALL OVER the web and I am sending an email to Richard Childress Racing questioning WHY he would have such a dismal company as a sponsor. The absolute worst!!! I ordered a used Parker boiler from Tri-State Laundry Equipment in North Carolina. Tri-State chose Estes to ship the boiler to me in New York. The Estes driver DROPPED the boiler off the lift gate while unloading the boiler from the truck. Then the Estes driver fraudulently presented the bill of lading for signature to an employee WITHOUT disclosing the material fact that he DROPPED THE 2,000 LB BOILER OFF THE LIFTGATE ONTO ITS SIDE, destroying the boiler. Both the freight hauler, Etes Express Freight and Tri-State took NO responsibility for the damage done. STAY AWAY FROM ESTES EXPRESS FREIGHRT. The delivery driver just forged my signature and did not deliver the shipment. Do not use them!

Just had a terrible experience with this company. We were scheduled to have kitchen cabinets delivered last Friday and they were a no show. Rescheduled for today, and when the truck arrived, our cabinets were at the very front of the truck with multiple heavy boxes behind them. The driver wanted to leave without delivering the cabinets. We said we would help and literally had to move several heavy boxes to clear a path. One corner of the packaging was crushed, but fortunately the caabinets were not damaged. I understand it is not the driver's job to help (we had to load the cabinets into our truck) but is obvious the company pushes them to deliver quickly and this is reflected in their attitude. I highly recommend that you do not use this company; it is poorly managed and logistics are obviously not in their skill set. I would give them no stars if possible. read more

Oh look, every Estes location on yelp has a one star review. I'm not surprised one bit. This company is the absolute worst company I have ever came in contact with. I am honestly disgusted by the way they treat not only their customers, but their employees too. I've never met such nasty people in my life and they should be ashamed of themselves for treating people and CUSTOMERS the way that they do. Wouldn't be shocked if they continue to lose customers considering they're not doing a great job of keeping them. I plan on telling every one I know about this awful company.
