I can only reiterate all of the negative reviews here. Don't get sucked in by a $59 cleaning. The staff do try to scare you into treatment and obviously have a history of upselling. I was told I needed 6 teeth pulled at a cost of about $2000 per tooth because my gum measurements were high (in some cases 9, 11, 13 mm). I've never had those kind of measurements since. Plus, if you upset the dentist, she becomes nasty. I guess you're not supposed to question their practices. Bottom line - avoid this dentist like the plaque. read more

BEWARE! I was told I needed 2 extractions at a cost of $4,877 and they rushed paperwork for payment option. I trusted them and signed. After a few hours of thought and checking with others that do extractions, I realized I was being charged 4 to 5 times the standard cost. I immediately called to cancel the loan, within 2 - 3 hours of signing, and today, 2 months later, my refund has not been received although many excuses have been made by Estero Smiles, including 'we sent the check to wrong address', and will resend. Excuses continue each time I call them. That was 7 weeks ago and although they promised to resend the check, it is still not here. The loan company is demanding payment for something I never received. Hope Estero Smiles is enjoying my $4,877. By the way, both extractions were done for under $1000. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I went in for a cleaning in November, they said they accepted my insurance. I need some fillings and a crown. They said they would file my insurance but I need to pay them. I paid them in full by December. My balance was $.00 They had scheduled me for February for a cleaning. My insurance switched in January and they were not in network so I called to cancel, I then got a bill of $1,297.00. I called to ask what this they said since my insurance was not in network I owed this. I told them I paid them for my prior visit and my balance was $.00 in December that my new insurance is not in network so I cancelled. They tried to tell me I still owed them but I did not. They know nothing about how insurance works! I wish I had looked at reviews before! read more

Feels like you are at a shady auto repair shop. You go in for a basic oil change and they try to up-sell you new tires, struts, and a coolant flush! You go for a cleaning and a new patient diag.,(which takes hours) then they send in a customer service person who tries to up-sell you on their own in-house dental plan, a myriad of tests, appts. with specialists, and added treatments. Like a car dealer, then start throwing specials and discounts at you. The hygienist was good, but could def. do without the up-sell and the impression that all your teeth are going to fall out and you are gonna develop a heart condition if you don't spend $1000 on treatments. read more

Had 2 veneers done, with Estero Smiles! One broke in a few months! They replaced it free of charge! Another few months it cracked when eating a tuna sandwich! I was having Invisalign done , and they assured me I could get a new one and, it would be the same size new veneer, which they charged me for! 6 months into Invisalign, my top teeth with the new veneer were not moving! The Invisalign dentist said the new veneer they put in was too big, NOT the same size! Now, I have to have the veneer removed and a new one put in, by my Invisalign dentist! The new veneer is guaranteed for 2 years! I also have to have 6 more months of Invisalign! I would not recommend Estero Smiles at all!! read more

I visited this office once and that was enough to decide I'll never return. I clearly explained that I was on a strict time schedule due to childcare, and they assured me they could accommodate me. Despite that, the procedure went more than two hours longer than promised, and two different dentists ended up working on me. The first dentist seemed unsure of what she was doing and pressed on my lip so aggressively with her tools that I had blisters for a week. The cost was also shocking--nearly $600 after insurance for a single tooth. I didn't realize how inflated that was until three weeks later when my son had four impacted wisdom teeth surgically removed, and we paid less with the exact same insurance. To make matters worse, because of their delay, my babysitter was late to her college exam and was not allowed to take it, likely resulting in a lower final grade for her. They are nice, I will give them that, but they over-diagnose. My family members have teeth that would be saved with root canals. These folks wanted to pull these teeth and put into implants - a much more expensive and traumatic procedure. We went with another dentist ulitimately. I would also say that their billing always struck me as opaque. I did not think that they stuck very closely to the prices of set by my insurer. They seemed to have a strategy of quoting high prices and providing a discount from those, but not to the level of the prices set by insurance, making me wonder whether these prices were in any sense binding on them. read more

STAY AWAY, I should have read all of these reviews before making my appointment! They are next door to my Dermatologist and looked new and clean. Well, that is about it!! Expended all of my insurance on endless x rays. Refused to clean my teeth with a routine cleaning. Said i had periodontal decay, worse than gingivitis, through this BS saliva test. I have great teeth, wore braces as a teen, get my teeth cleaned 2x a year and keep up with my flossing. They made it sound like I was dying. PLEASE NEVER GO TO THIS DENTISTRY! I scheduled my appointment as a first time patient and was told to arrive 15 minutes early. They asked me to give them my ID, dental insurance, and medical insurance. Was very puzzled by them asking for my medical insurance but not knowing any better, I gave it to them. After waiting for 40 minutes in the waiting room, the receptionist walked past me and only acknowledged me after we made eye contact when he then said "let me check if the x-ray room is ready for you." He then walked to the back and came back 10 minutes later and didn't say a word to me. After an hour and 15 minutes of waiting in the waiting room, they finally brought me back and took more x-rays than any dentist I have ever been to. They then brought me back into the room and sat me down. They had me swish a weird solution in my mouth as a "spit test" and ran it for results. After waiting another 30 minutes, the dentist and what I supposed was the periodontist, walked into the room. They sat down and proceeded to poke my gums and start calling out numbers. After I got home, I looked up that those numbers indicated millimeter depth of the pockets in my teeth. She extensively called out numbers on my molars and rear teeth, but when approaching my front teeth, proceeded to graze over them and call out less significant numbers that I now know means they were normal. She then told me I had gum disease and explained the spit test indicated high levels of a tissue bacteria that is degenerating my gums. When I looked at the paper as she was telling me this, it said in red bold letters "ABNORMAL RE-TEST" and then she never had me do another one. That rubbed me the wrong way and then she proceeded to tell me I had bone loss in my mouth at 21 years old and recommended a $5000 procedure that would do a deep cleaning and I would then need to come in every 3 months to check on it. She then told me if I don't act on it, it could lead to heart issues and other health implications that seemed very fishy. She then left and the periodontist went through the payment for me and told me I'd only owe $900 today and we could go ahead with the procedure. I told her I didn't have the money and needed to speak to other people to get an opinion. I then asked her if she could clean my teeth to which she said no because I needed the deep cleaning and a regular one would do no justice for me. So after waiting 2 hours, no one cleaned my teeth and they told me I needed a deep cleaning. I asked if she could email me the x-rays so I can ask my dentist that I have back in NJ. Nobody sent me them, so I called an hour later and she told me they would be uploaded in my MyChart in 15 minutes. Had to call again after 45 minutes and she sent me a screenshot off her computer of all the x-rays so that I could barely see any of the x-rays. After asking my normal dentist about this, he said I had zero bone loss and it would be very unlikely that I would as he was looking at my x-rays that were taken a year prior. He then asked his peridontist friend to which they said to "never go back to this sketchy money grab place ever again". I am cancelling my deep cleaning appointment that I made just so they would leave me alone and I repeat NEVER MAKE AN APPOINTMENT HERE. read more

On February 21 2024 i went to Estero Smile dentistry, to have a tooth removed, They had all my Insurance informations, they still charged me $321.55 I called Bleucross Bleushield, and ask them to look into that bill, they told me that they did send payment to the companie, and my part should have been $32.40 co pay not $321.55. I called Smile dentistry to find out why they charged me so much, and they said they dint get any payment from Bleu cross. I called Smile dentistry they said they were waiting to hear from their headquarter to verify payment,, later they said they received payment from Bleu cross. and they would send me a refund of only 142.$ I am still waiting. As I recently moved to Florida I purchased a basic insurance policy for dental care. This dental practice was listed in the insurance co. provider network. My expectations were low based on my premium. I decided to test Estero Smiles with an evaluation and cleaning. On the positive side they did extensive imaging including panoramic. In the interest of brevity and if you read other reviews the general theme is to sell dental procedures. My estimate was in the $14K range. As I had extensive dental work done 3 months earlier I was aware of additional treatment. It was far short of their recommendations. As I was in the chair the business manager came in and went over all the procedures they were advising. Obviously I was not going to make a decision to proceed this day. I asked for a copy of the estimate and could not obtain it as he stated the printer was broken. Fine how about an old school email? I did receive one after two phone calls. Last call the business mgr. answered the phone and I waited until email was received. Two basic items: Remember I was testing this business. The cleaning (covered by insurance) was now going to cost $450 as they wanted a "deep" cleaning. I declined and requested a normal cleaning. After 30 minutes in the chair and 2.5 hours at the practice I removed the bib and left. Possible tooth extraction. Again basic extraction covered by insurance. They suggested $4K in additional work. I left 3 messages with the examining doctor to discuss. Dead radio silence. I would look elsewhere for dental care. read more

This office is horrible and doesn't care about patients. The staff is not helpful and visibly irritated by your presence. They run patients through like cattle. Very impersonal and reckless. They definitely upsell unnecessary procedures. They cut my daughter's face while removing her wisdom teeth, ran through the post op procedure and provided no paper to refer to for the instructions they rattled off. We were rushed in and rushed out and handled with no care. Office and medical staff were both visibly irritated. My dental implant failure sent me back to my dentist at Estero Smiles. The Dentist is not an Oral Surgeon. The Oral Surgeon travels to multiple offices in this franchise and was not there to remove the failed implant. The dentist proceeded to remove the failed implant without giving me any anesthesia or novacaine. The pain was instantly excruciating and I cried and screamed for her to stop. She said she couldn't stop! I was screaming in agony with tears running down my face. She wouldn't stop! I threw my arms up and knocked the equipment to the floor. Everyone in the building heard my cries for help. I demanded to know why I wasn't given any novacaine or gas and she said I was given novacaine. That was NOT TRUE. I couldn't leave because the procedure wasn't completed. I had to get back in her chair and was then and only then given novacaine at my request. She removed the failed implant while I was still crying. She followed me out to the reception area in front of waiting patients to tell me that she gave me novacaine. I cried that she only gave it to me after she had hurt me so badly. Receptionist told me there would not be a charge for this visit, and the new implant would also be at no charge. However, what I NEEDED was a SINUS LIFT for $2,000. They said that was explained to me DURING the Oral Surgeons implant procedure, but I was assured it wasn't necessary, just optional, and the Oral Surgeon gave me a shorter implant... With all of the excessive 3D Imaging, and X-rays taken and available to the surgeon why didn't the surgeon see that I'd probably have a better outcome with this sinus lift? Upon leaving the implant procedure, I was told to 'be careful'. I asked them what they meant by 'be careful', if the implant was going to fall out or something. They said Oh no, of course not. Sure enough the implant came loose and was causing horrible gum and jaw pain. And that's what put me back in the dentists chair. I never want to have her or anyone on her staff touch me again. Meanwhile, my gums are sore and my 'flipper' (temporary space filler) no longer fits. It's embarrassing to have a gap in my smile and the toothless gap is quite obvious when I'm talking. Do NOT use these people for any dental work. They will take your money and then double your bill with unnecessary procedures and dozens of repeat X-rays. On a prior visit I needed a new crown because mine had fallen out. They told me I'd have to have a root canal in order to get a new crown. That's NOT TRUE. The crown that fell out was not on a tooth that had a root canal. Bottom line, stay away from Estero Smiles and probably all "Smiles" dentistry locations. It's a franchise/chain and you will not receive proper care... Because their business is guided by up-sales and quotas you will be charged DOUBLE + what any other Dentist charges. I called my Oral Surgeon in KC and the fee for a Sinus Lift is only $825, not $2,000 !! I plan on traveling back to my home dentist for all dental care. My Oral Surgeon has agreed to see me and evaluate my situation with his own set of X-rays. IF necessary he will perform the Implant surgery while I'm in town. Of course I will be paying twice for the whole procedure to start over. You get what you pay for and I won't pay for horrible MEDICAL MALPRACTICE at Estero Smiles. read more

Made an appointment here because I work on week days and they had a Saturday appointment available. I have great insurance (Guardian) that has always covered most prices for everything- but not here. For three fillings they wanted to charge my insurance thousands of dollars and on top of that have me pay $1,000 out of pocket. They had a girl come in and showed me pricing before the dentist came in (probably because their pricing is absurd) and I said absouletley not. The guy who did my cleaning was kind and informative and did a great job. But the whole operation felt like a scam. To get 3 fillings from coconut point dental is under $200 with my insurance and they're always kind and efficient. read more

My previous dentist changed insurance so I spent a while looking for a new one and found Estero Smiles, which was right near my dermatologist. I made an appt for a cleaning, but after they took some X-rays they told me how they wanted to do some more intensive cleaning that went beyond what insurance covered. They also said it would entail a shot in my gums, which I was fine with but asked if I could have a week to schedule it as I have panic attacks and would like to bring someone with me. They dismissed my concerns and said they had people there that would be able to help me even though I said I much preferred a family member. After a third person came in to give me the costs, I started to realize that this place is probably run by a company that is trying to maximize profits. I have seen it happen several times in different medical offices and it changes it from a 'patient first' feel to a 'money first' feel. It wasn't until I asked if I could at least have my cleaning and then arrange the other portion later that things got weird. The woman told me no, it had to all be done at once which set off major red flags. If you are so concerned about my teeth, wouldn't you at least want to clean them rather then do nothing? For the first time in my life, I walked out of a doctor's office, and I'm glad I did because they absolutely did not have my best interests at heart. The woman who spoke to me about the charges also said, 'We usually deal with people who have deeper pockets '. Wow. If I could give this horrible place no stars I would. I am so sorry I went to this dental office. 4 months prior I had a cleaning and an exam at another awesome dentist's office, who said my teeth looked great. Unfortunately, that dentist no longer takes insurance. I went to this place and I was told I needed a "special cleaning" because of periodontal disease (that I do not have) . They had the nerve to charge my insurance company $95 for "oral hygiene instructions" that I never received nor would have ever needed!!! They also charged my insurance company $404 dollars for a "Cone CT" scan of my jaw which was also totally unnecessary. I was never told a "CT" scan of my jaw was being done! The assistant said "one last x-ray and you have to stand!" The hygienist was an animal when she cleaned my teeth and had the audacity to say my gums were bleeding. Well, if you clean a person's teeth like an animal, of course gums are going to bleed. My gums never, ever, ever bleed when I floss and brush. This place is a total rip off. Now I am stuck with a bill for $498 for unnecessary work and they never explained that it wouldn't be covered by my insurance. All they want is to make money off of people DO NOT USE THIS DENTAL OFFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd like to call the better business bureau about this. read more

Wish I would have read these reviews before going in. I read positive reviews but it must have been on other sites. Beware of pricing and upselling as others have pointed out. They said both my husband and myself had gum issues. He's never had issues in his life. Charged us both $95 for "hygiene instructions". Pretty much drained our HSA account after one visit each for a simple cavity on each of us. They go thru the costs so quickly it's hard to know what they are going to charge you in the end. Our fault for saying yes to anything additional but we trusted they knew what they were doing. Dr Shima was nice enough but the hygienist had a thick accent and a mask on and got upset when I couldn't understand what she was telling me to do. And it was the roughest cleaning I've ever had. Called in to get an appt for an abcessed tooth, they got me in the same day and were able to help. The office was very clean and new. The staff was very helpful. I would reccomend this dentist as a postive experience. They did not try to upsell me as reported in previous reviews. I have had thhat experience at other locations but not here, and for that I am glad. This DDS is an accepted provider for my insurance so that made it an easy decsion for me to continue care here. I had a missing back tooth and needed an implant. Unfortunately, before I could get the implant, I needed a bone build up first. Dr Okasha performed the surgery painless and successfully. Once I healed Dr Shima took over and was wonderful. All of the assistants made me feel at ease and comfortable, which I have rarely been at a dentist office. I had a great feeling from the beginning because of Henry, the office manager. He is the best! Thank you Estero Dentistry for your kindness and professionalism! Let me start by saying that I don't typically leave reviews unless they are positive however this place is horrible. I am in my mid-50s and in healthcare. I love to go to the dentist. I love to have my teeth cleaned. This was the worst experience I've ever had. It's a complete racket. Kept trying to upsell. I just wanted my teeth cleaned and I was very clear about that. This place is a racket, they are only there to make money, clearly do not listen to the patients desires for service. They force periodontal services that are expensive and use scare tactics to think you are going to heart disease or even die from gum disease if you do not sign up for their every 3 month periodontal cleanings. Went there this morning for my 6-month cleaning, I assumed my std 6-month cleaning, because when they called to confirm the appt, I specifically asked to make sure it was not a periodontal, which they confirmed. But when i got there for a 9am appt, they took me to x-rays at 9:25am and I questioned why x-rays, I just them 6 months ago as a first time patient. They said it was std procedure so they can give the best opinion on care for me...sounds good right, but it really means how can they up-charge you. Well the Dr. Shima does the gum check again and she tells me I have gum disease, which they said 6 months ago (at that time, i did the additional deep cleaning for $900, even though this was my first visit as a new customer, I felt pressured to do it and it ended of being a 3 hr visit) now the third person I've seen this morning comes in at 9:45am, the guy from the front desk to explain all the care i need, and that i need to continue with the periodontal program, I declined the extra $800 service (only $200 today with my insurance coverage) and said I would only like my semi annual cleaning which is covered by my insurance, and happens to be the service I came in for and was confirmed on the phone last week. They politely said they would not perform any cleaning on me if I did not agree to the periodontal program. I asked...so you are not going to do my 6-month cleaning today, he said no! So i was forced to get up and leave without a cleaning, I politely thanked them for the complete waste of my time. My wife called in this morning when i told her the story, she cancelled her cleaning scheduled for next week, we will find a new dentist and tell everyone of our experience. It's to bad, they are located close to our house, we recently moved down here from MN, our dentist in MN is a very close family friend and we trust his professional opinion regarding our dental care. He rolled his eyes when I told him what they said about my gums/teeth 6 months ago. Estero Smiles employs scare tactics on their patients so they spend more money on care not covered by insurance, they also told my wife she needed a crown, which she did not, she visited our MN dentist over the Christmas holiday and he said no, BTW she does not have any issues with it. I was also told I needed a new crown and if I did not repair it right away it would crack, amazingly they could do it right there that day for only $2K. I have never written a review before and certainly not a negative one, but this experience has been so bad that I could not let others go to this dentist without being aware of my experience and the tactics they use. read more

Just know that the dentist, Dr. Shima, will try to upsell you on the Laser Cleaning, if you have insurance, which of course, is not fully covered by insurance. Be very weary, as after getting off the phone with our insurance company, we were told they have received many complaints about the upselling of "extra" treatments not covered by insurance, by this dentist. When you go into their office, you see over and over again "informative" posters about gum disease. While the staff is nice and accommodating, they will "ice" you: Dr. Shima gave me a very rough exam, then asked me to wait. The waiting was 1 hr in a freezing office. They (dr., Nurse, and accountant) came back and said with that level of gum deterioration I would need extensive treatment. I asked for price, a little baffled because gum disease is manageable but not curable. Another 1/2 hr later they came back and, while having me on the dentist chair, with mouth open, quoted $5,000. The treatment would mostly be genetic testing of the bacteria in my teeth?!? I said no, and then had the worst cleaning of my life, with a lady who sprayed me with water multiple times, proceeded to laugh at me and called me a baby. I was there for almost 3 hours. Visited a different dentist and while my gums are receding with age, he said they do not require anything beyond management. I'm still angry just thinking about it. read more

DO NOT COME HERE FOR A ROOT CANAL! I want to start by saying I have never felt so compelled to write a review. I would like to note that the office staff/manager, Dr. Shima, as well as the hygienists are truly amazing. They helped me through not leaving mid-procedure, as I would have rather been in pain than what I experienced. Not only did they comfort me as I was shaking and crying as I had just had one of the most terrible experiences of my life, but they were super gentle and continued to ensure I was doing okay. I had to get a root canal done by Dr. M. Sami Gad and I had never gotten one done so I did not know what to expect. I don't mean to exaggerate when I say it was hands down the worst experience of my life. All throughout the procedure, Gad continuously acted condescending, laughed at himself if questions were asked to him, yelled at the hygenist that was assisting him, did not answer my questions, as well as the fact he yelled at me if I moved the slightest. Gad's only thing on his mind was wanting to get out of the office, with no care for his patients. I was so stressed with everything going on that I began to cry during the procedure. Gad was in such a rush he did not seem to care and asked me if I was "trying to make them feel guilty". At the end of the procedure, he asked why I was crying and I lied as I said, it was from pain. He then told me I should have told him I needed to get more pain medicine. At this point, I wanted to get out of there so I responded quickly by saying it was okay. This prompted him to scoff, say "whatever", and leave without coming back to check on me or anything. If you need to get a root canal done, I hope you never have to have the same experience as I did at this dentist with GAD. I would have rathered suffer through the pain. read more
