Casher was very upset because I didn't tip as soon as I ordered my food. Her smile turned into a frown and she completely ignored me as a guest for the 1st time. The food looked terrible, and it tasted like a toilet. I was sick with diarrhea for 3 days. I will never eat there or at any Mexican restaurant again. read more

Great Mexican food! We have had the guacamole, quesadillas, torta, tacos, rice chicken and queso plate, and the kids menu options. Everything we have ordered has been amazing. Including their agua fresca, personal favorite being mango. You get a variety of Mexican cuisines that taste authentic and an amazing price! They also have a grocery store right next door if you decide you want to get your own meat and grill at home. If you ask for them to prepare the meat they will season it and ready to just add to your grill top! read more

The outside isn't much to look at, as it's an older building. The inside is very clean and was welcomed immediately. The young man at the counter was very helpful when I asked him for some recommendations. The salsa and chips were good. They also have a small salsa bar if you want to snazz the chips up a bit. I ordered two sopes, one steak and one chorizo, we well we two steak gorditas. After a few minutes my food came and it was beautifully prepared. Very appealing to look at. The sopes were fried perfectly and the toppings were fresh. None of the food is overly spiced. The steak was cut into small cubes and was very tender. The bottom line: If you're looking for authentic Mexican food for a great price- THIS is your stopping point. I would drive from Chattanooga to Calhoun, just to eat here. Delicious!!! Clean. Great variety of food. Service is fine. They have tacos burria that are made from a fresh brisket that is cooked for hours by a family member each morning! Wow! They also have pupusas (unlike anyone else in Calhoun). They are very accommodating! Delicious!! read more

Really nice atmosphere in here, clean and well decorated. No distracting frills and the menu is straight forward with presentation and pricing. Order as you come in at the cashier station, then settle in and get ready for incredible Mexican food. Great value for food that has a made-from-scratch, home style taste to it. Seriously delicious food (made with Love), reasonable prices ($1.00 tacos on Tuesday), friendly owners, a vast menu and great quality! I'm sure some people in Calhoun may have their allegiances elsewhere but trust me, the quality and care in the preparation of their food is second to none. Seriously, I'm a extensive traveler and foodie and therefore grown to be quite picky and Estela's is right up there with some of the best Taquerias I've been to out in Texas, Arizona and California. This is absolutely one of my favorite places in Calhoun. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Their Molcajete is fantastic. One of my normal go-to's is the nachos or the masa tacos. If you love street tacos you will especially love theirs as the make the tortillas fresh. The sopes are fantastic too and their hot salsa is yummy. Honestly I haven't ordered anything I didn't love. My favorite meats are the marinated pork ,Tongue , and chicken. If you order the Mexicano burrito make sure you're hungry or sharing. The restaurant is always clean and bright and the employees there are kind and friendly. read more

We really enjoyed this taqueria! The homemade chips and salsa were awesome. Husband and I both ordered the combo that's a torta and two tacos for $9.99- great deal. The tacos were really good authentic tacos. Tortas were both good, although not our favorite bread we've had on tortas before. The horchata was as good as any we've ever had. The place doesn't look amazing from the outside but it's really nice on the inside, and food was quality. Will be back! read more

I love Mexican food and usually dine out at least 2 to 3 times a week. I live in Rome and this is the first time that I've been to Calhoun for Mexican food. I ordered one of the more expensive items on the menu which was the so I have like volcano rock with different meats and I have to tell you that I could not cut the steak with a knife and the chicken was like eating jerk chicken. This is probably the worstMexican food that I've ever had. I couldn't eat it and brought it home and tried to shred it for my dog. I do not recommend this restaurant and I will not be coming back ever. read more

We had dinner there last night and we ordered meals and only half the meal arrived. The menu stated guacamole, lettuce and pico de Gallo came with the meals and we didn't get it. When we asked for I think they added it to the bill, which was never presented.... will not be returning! read more

On our way back from Atlanta found this hidden gem. Some of the best Mexican food we've had. Tortillas for the tacos were handmade. The Gordita was handmade and fried and the beans in it were the real deal. The owner even gave us refills on our horchata. Different sauces from mild to hot with various flavors. Chips as appetizers. I can't say enough about this place, except it's worth the 12 minutes of I-75 for authentic tastes and flavors of original Mexican food. I was tentative to go in there when I noticed they opened. It's next to the cement plant and a lot of ugly looking stuff. But I prefer local restaurants over chains and fast food. I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice clean restaurant. The tacos are great. $1 tacos on Tuesday are obviously the first draw, but I have tried several other dishes and they are all good.
