Cute place. Love how the music outside draws attention but you can't hear it inside. Service was great and attentive. Cocktails were on the pricey side but worth it. I had the Jamaica and if you like sweet, this is for you. I took a sip of my friend's margarita and it was tasty. Food always tastes better with a well made cocktail. All the food was well presented and tasted great. I liked the Bacaloa and the Bistec con Mofongo. Serving size was just right which unfortunately meant no leftovers. But I left satisfied so that's a plus.

I came with my family for brunch. We were excited for a Puerto Rican restaurant near us. Surprisingly, the restaurant was basically empty. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly. He informed us that they are testing their brunch menu and have been offering brunch for only a few weeks so far and that they are typically busy during dinner hours. I ordered the sofrito hash for myself. The dish was yummy but it felt like the needed something more. It had brisket, huge chunks of potatoes, and onions, topped with fried egg. I think some bell peppers would help with flavor and even the appearance of the dish. My kids shared a desayuno plate that came with bacon, eggs, potatoes, and toast. The toast is so good! My husband ordered a peril with arroz con gandules with a side of maduros. He enjoyed his meal a lot. We ended our meal with their flan de queso which is to die for! We plan to try their dinner menu soon.

Finally tried this place and it did not disappoint!! The food was absolutely delicious, it's such a cute place, and the service was impeccable. I didn't get a picture of the empanadas, but my friend and I tried those as well and they were incredible. It was our first time stopping in and they gave us a little complimentary flan to try. I feel like it's easy to mess up flan and this was was so good!!! I need to go back and get a full size one:)

Adorable restaurant with a great ambience, good drinks and even better food! Everything was above my expectations. The portions and flavors of the food were perfect. My favorite cocktail was the hibiscus mojito! They also have some beautiful artwork on the walls to enjoy. Next time I'm in Evanston again I'll be sure to pop in here. Service was fast & friendly.

Stop driving to whatever restaurant you had picked out and head to Estacion. The most amazing everything. Service? Felt like a queen. Food? Had me planning on buying a whole second round to take home. Vibe? Immaculate. Any rate below a 5 star is a salty liar. Go here. DO IT!!!

Went here on a Friday night for dinner. We made a reservation ahead but it wasn't too busy. We ordered the pulpo appetizer to share and then the arroz con pollo and pescado (grilled tuna) for entrees. I absolutely LOVED the arroz con pollo. There wasn't just chicken on top of the dish, but shredded chicken mixed in with the rice, and it was so flavorful!

We had a great meal at Estación last night. We were told about it when we were dining at Libertad a few months ago. There wasn't any signage at the entrance other than the street number so you have to look carefully to find it. The area it was located in Evanston was very nice and had some other great looking restaurants nearby. This made parking a little tricky, so give yourself extra time. Estación was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night but I think that people are just learning about it. We started out with guacamole with tostones, which was different but delicious. Dipping with the tostone was almost like dipping with a potato latke, but it was really good! We also had the queso frito which came with a halloumi-like cheese that you put on toasted bread with red pepper salsa. For drinks, I had their sangria which was made with white wine and was excellent. My husband and daughter had the Casa Humilde Guyaba Dabba Do, which was a locally brewed beer made with guava that they both enjoyed a lot. For our main entrees, I got the arroz con pollo with delicious maduros on top. My daughter got the skirt steak with chimichurri and crispy French fries and she devoured it. My vegetarian husband went with the impossible meatballs with rice and maduros. I will say that that was really the only vegetarian/vegan option for the entrees. The portion sizes were big and we had plenty to take home. Overall, we had a great meal, with great service and a serene and cool vibe atmosphere!

I'm bummed we didn't try this restaurant earlier. I had the branzino and my husband had the ropa vieja. The portions were filling and fresh. I had a great cocktail as well. We topped it off with some flan. The staff and atmosphere was really friendly. It was nice to be in a restaurant without TVs as well. We will be back.

We wanted to like it more than we did. Sancocho & Pollo con Arroz were both quite uneventful, making the price even less justifiable.

As a Puerto Rican, the Perníl was very underwhelming, especially for the high price. Beans lacked any flavor and were hard.

Pros: I like the atmosphere of this place. Bright colors inside and outside! Great vibes, couches are comfortable, art work on walls is amazing. I had the pleasure of attending several private parties and rooftop staff and bar staff are lovely! Cons: customer service in restaurant. One of the bus boys was sweeping the floor around us when we were first seated. I told him to move because my phone charger fell by my feet and I did not want him to sweep my phone cord. He also did not know the menu when we asked for brunch menu. We were told menu online/Google was not their current menu. Wait staff took their time to obtain our order. The wait staff also only gave us only 1 creamer for coffee and was told it was the last creamer, milk was provided. Plus the place does not provide free refills of coffee. The atmosphere and food makes up for the customer service. I would visit again to try drinks at the bar.

I got the standard order and also ordered a side of Mac & cheese to try it out. I got a free drink with Yelp check in but the worker didn't know about it and had to call the owner. I got my meal to go and hubby got a meat patty for us to try on the ride home. It was hot, flaky and very tasty! When we got home the first thing I noticed was no sauce, and they didn't ask if I wanted sauce on the side or on the food. Still, the chicken was cooked well and the level of spice was perfect! I'm just used to jerk sauce, at least on the chicken. Yet despite no sauce the chicken was tasty and the white meat was not dry, although I will say that the pieces were noticeably small. The cabbage was a bit crunchy but delicious, as was the rice & peas and the plantains. I wasn't impressed with the look of the mac & cheese (looked like Kraft and not homemade) but it was tasty also. I had enough food for two meals so the value is good. Overall I enjoyed it and I think I found a new Jamaican spot.

My wait time on a Friday afternoon at 5pm had a 40-minute wait time. How do I know? Because I kept feeding the meter on the online parking app. There were many delivery people picking up food, including some folks that may have just finished a work shift and was grabbing food before going home. No I didn't get the pizza. I believe because Loyola University sits in the neighborhood, the restaurant is catering to the college kids by offering pizza. I decided to order some food for myself and husband - jerk wings, brown-stew chicken and jerk catfish - both with candied yams, rice and peas, and plantains; plus one slice of rum cake. After 25 minutes I checked on my order and was told there were no more candied yams, and I can replace it with cabbage and select 2 can sodas. When I got home, one of my orders actually did have candied yams, but somehow both included cabbage and macaroni and cheese. OK?! Well I guess I'll get to sample all of their sides! Let's start with the Jerk Chicken Wings. The presentation could have been worked on, however, the flavor was actually good and different from other places I've been. It had sort of a sweet and spicy flavor, but not overwhelmingly spicy. If I was to go here again, I wouldn't get the jerk catfish because they give you catfish fillet and not catfish steaks - which is what I prefer. Plus for the price - $25, I believe there should be more fish in this container. Can you see the catfish in my attached photos? No?! That's because it's in the top right corner underneath the jerk gravy (great flavor by the way). In fact, all the food had great flavors; especially for carryout. The candied yams were my favorite. Second would be the rice and peas. My hubby tried his food the next day and said the rice tasted mushy but had a good flavor. We believe that it was mushy because it had been over 24 hours and various refrigeration at home and his job. The chicken pieces were all dark meat (legs and thighs). On the online menu, it's called Jamaican Black Cake, but in the restaurant, it's called Rum Cake. Well you taste the rum on first bite, after that it tastes like raisins. I don't have to get that again. I've definitely have had better rum cake, and didn't have to pay $8 for a small sliver. I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars because of the enormous wait time, my order mix up and the not so tasty and expensive Black Cake / Rum Cake.
