I paid Ember Roofing in full, believing that meant my roofing project--and my financial obligations--were finished. Imagine my surprise when I later received a written demand for payment and notice of a potential mechanic's lien from Zarat Roofing, the company that says it performed the roofing labor on my home. According to the letter I received, Zarat Roofing claims it is still owed $3,615 for labor, despite the fact that I had already paid Ember Roofing in full. What makes this especially frustrating is that this is a dispute I should never have been placed in the middle of as a customer who paid his bill. I contacted the owners of Ember Roofing using the information provided in the letter. Initially, one of the owners seemed open, receptive, and willing to get the situation resolved, which gave me some reassurance. Unfortunately, after subsequent attempts to reach him by both phone and text, I have not received a response. I don't take leaving a review like this lightly. When you hire a roofing company, you're trusting them with your home and a significant amount of money. After paying your contractor in full, the last thing any homeowner expects is to receive a letter warning about unpaid roofing labor and a potential lien against their property. I'm sharing this because homeowners deserve to know what happened in my experience. I paid Ember Roofing in full, yet I subsequently received a written notice stating that $3,615 in roofing labor remained unpaid and warning of a potential mechanic's lien against my property. As a homeowner who fulfilled my payment obligation to the contractor I hired, receiving a letter like this was extremely concerning. Employees Dakoda, Mario and Chance came out, replaced the skylight and roof flashing and a nearby turtle vent with no issues. They installed and tied-in the new shingles to manufacturer's specifications and the job looks great. Since then we have had several severe rains and experienced no leaks at the repaired area. They demanded to come see it, spent less than 5 minutes at the property (I don't think anybody even went on the roof) and then demanded I needed to get on the phone with them. When I got on the phone with them they told me it would be $1,500 (over triple what we were quoted elsewhere), and I immediately declined. They then condescendingly told me if I take the cheap route it would ruin the house, while not knowing who the other company is or what the quote even is to do. When I read their quote in depth the only additional think they were charging for was a roof inspection when they advertize that their estimates are free. Just a giant waste of everybody's time.
