tl;dr 100% recommend pampering yourself with a caviar facial and a spa pedicure This was my first spa experience since the pandemic started. Sabrina was my esthetician for the caviar facial. In the beginning, she asked if I was interested in a educational or relaxing experience. I asked a bunch of questions, and she gladly explained everything she was doing. There was also a very nice shoulder massage. The caviar facial (creamy colored mask) has anti-aging properties, and left my face feeling hydrated and smooth like a baby. The nail salon operates separately from the facial/massage area, and handle their own appointments. There was a decent amount of people getting their nails done. I was 20 minutes early for my appointment and they were still able to take me in. The salon chairs look gorgeous and new. I felt comfortable and everything was super clean! The spa pedicure comes with callus remover and foot/leg massage. My feet and legs are so soft! Very happy with the service here! For the facials, you're able to leave tip on your card. This is my new go to spa! My experience was great! I booked the full spa package for my first visit and they did not disappoint! I received a reminder email and text message a few days prior and a courtesy call the day before my appointment! The customer service was excellent! Upon arrival I was greeted with a warm welcome and given the key to my locker. The robe provided was super comfortable and it smelled amazing in there! I'm super big on cleanliness so I was very pleased with the superb upkeep and condition of every room, especially the locker room! It was a super relaxing experience! I loved the whirlpool and the wet sauna! The dry sauna also had a honeycomb pot full of water and a steam releaser that was activated once you poured in the water! My deep tissue massage was amazing ! I would recommend Katrina or Angelica for a deep tissue! I also got my very first customized facial from Erika! She was very knowledgeable and super easy going! She even offered some recommendations for skincare items based on my skin type after the facial. Lastly, I enjoyed the comfy VIP lounge and got to relax and sip my complimentary mimosa! I'm unfortunately really torn about this place. I'll start with the good. The massage was 5 stars. Nothing against my therapist, she was attentive, thorough, and just nice! However, she actually wasn't the therapist I originally booked with (and now I'll go into the not so good) The administrative portion of booking my appointment and dealing with the front desk was not great. I booked a massage about a week before my birthday (made the appointment for my actual birthday) and chose a therapist online. I received a message saying the business would let me know if my appointment had been approved. It was, then HALF the price of the massage was taken off my credit card as a deposit. I've heard of deposits, but never half. But I moved on. I expected another email and text shortly after for me to fill out my new client forms. I never got them. I did receive an additional email, text, and phone call one and two days before my appointment reminding me of it. Still no forms. I figured they were the type of business where I'd have to fill them out in person, so I decided to go to my appointment early. The day of my appointment arrives and I'm heading to the place, and 25 minutes before my massage I received messages stating I had to fill out forms. I was able to rush through them before I got out the car, but it was inconvenient for me. I checked in, and the lady running the front desk told me who I'd be seeing. I realized that wasn't who I chose, and when I mentioned it she said it's in my email. I apologized for my oversight and did see it in my email when she mentioned it, but I still remembered choosing someone else. She proceeded to say that if the therapist isn't available, then they automatically place you with someone else. I also found that odd (also odd because I shouldn't be able to choose a therapist if they aren't available) but moved on. What REALLY turned me off was that I mentioned to the lady my issue with the forms being provided so late, and just wanted to make a suggestion to the business to send them earlier for convenience. She proceeded to tell me that multiple emails and texts were sent out telling me to fill out the forms and I got another message today because I never filled them out in the first place. I told her that received the emails and texts that she spoke of, but none of them included forms. She continued to not believe me and project herself as correct in the situation, and I told her how I felt. She then said "well I'm just asking" but she clearly had an attitude. Honestly the issues I had with administrative part of my experience makes me not want to come back. The response sent by the business after I posted my review has confirmed that I won't return. All I wanted to do was provide a suggestion from my personal experience, and I still feel exactly the same as to how the business handled it. The rest of the staff were pleasant and great, but I'm perfectly fine with driving further away and being treated much better and receiving better business. read more

I visited Essentials of Woodbridge this morning for a 60- minute massage with Tiffany. I had an absolutely amazing experience. Upon check-in I was escorted to a quiet lounge area and offered water. Shortly after my massage therapist came to get me. The entire facility was super clean and had a pleasant odor, and the massage room was roomy. Even the massage table was amazing and comfortable and warm. Tiffany was very attentive and she was so good. Next time I'll have to book for a long massage. I booked via their website about a week out. A 50% deposit for my service was taken from my credit card upon booking, which is completely fair (just heads up in case you don't read before booking, like I originally did - if you read the entire thing you'll see that it clearly states that a deposit will be taken and their cancellation policy, etc). The location was easy to find and there is a large parking lot. They even sent me a video on how to find the place. I heard of this place via Instagram, I have been in Woodbridge for over 6 years and I am so happy to have found out about the place and that's why I decided to give it a try. read more

The most expensive "back rub" my husband and I have ever paid for in our lives. We are new to Northern Virginia but frequently have gotten massages and couple massages for the past 6 years now. Coming from Hawaii & Las Vegas before that so we have comparisons to base this on. My husband was able to book us a last minute couples massage for our Anniversary which we appreciated, the facility is in a great location, they have relaxing and welcoming waiting areas, very beautifully set up. But the massage itself was SUBPAR. The oil/lotion was so cold it was uncomfortable everytime it first touched the skin. I asked about the temperature afterwards and they said it was a health concern for the spa to warm oil but I've NEVER experienced a massage with cold oil, maybe room temperature or warm. Another thing was I had to ask for more pressure a few times and I always prefer light/medium anyways. It was the lightest massage I've ever received, EVER. I was never asked once how the pressure was. I couldnt relax, I just kept thinking about how much money we have just wasted and how I will need to find another place to try. This price point was one of the highest we've ever paid for a couples massage but we were willing to try at such short notice. When my husband and I were done I made a comment about the pressure and oil and he was like oh yeah, same. He was kind of shocked like we both had the same feedback so it wasn't just one of our therapist but both. We were very unhappy with our service. When we went to pay, the front desk representative asked how the massage was and I replied "it was okay, I guess" and she was like okay, good. Almost in a robotic response and not really listening to my feedback. We paid but once I got in the car I called and emailed in hopes to speak with a manager. I received response that the pressure was the pressure I paid for and if I wanted more pressure that's extra. That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard and I've never had that problem before. I was hoping to have had an invitation to try another therapist, maybe at a discounted rate due to the unsatisfactory. But no resolve or apology, just an excuse which made me feel like I was the problem. So for some weird reason this spa never popped up on my radar and I've lived in Woodbridge for 2 years. This whole time I've been driving to Herndon when i could've went around the corner! I hate that I have to come onto a public platform to besmirch a local female owned business however I am beyond disappointed at the lack of customer service and business acumen that was shown upon my FIRST encounter with Essentials. I scheduled a clarifying back facial several weeks in advance. As I prepared for my appointment, I filled out my forms noting that I had an allergy to coconut. As I was en route, I received a phone call inquiring about the severity of the allergy. Long story short, upon arrival it was determined that the products used for the service contain coconut and I was advised not to use to which I agreed and requested any alternate products. Imagine my surprise when I was told there was NOTHING else that this "reputable" establishment had at their disposal. I was offered an alternate peel for double the original price to which I declined. I was prepared to forgo the entire notion of a back facial and shift my reservation to a couples massage UNTIL I was notified that the $75 deposit I paid would not be refunded. After several minutes trying to understand why I was being PENALIZED for a medical condition AND reminding the owner that she stood the chance of LOOSING A LOT MORE MONEY if she could just transfer the small amount as a hold for a future appointment. To my dismay, the owner KARYZ FIGUEROA refused and left me no choice but to take my FRUSTRATION and DISCRIMINATION to alternate platforms. It's not about the money at all but the fact that I was looking forward to a service and supporting a local female owned business but I must use my voice and influence as a 20+ year beauty and fashion executive to implore that other businesses not make this same mistake. THANKS ESSENTIALS OF WOODBRIDGE FOR RUINING MY MOTHER'S DAY GIFT from my husband!!!! My husband called to schedule a Facial and Deep Tissue massage on May 2nd. On May 13th one of the receptionist called and informed me that my Massage Therapist had a funeral to go to so they needed to readajust my time. I told the receptionist I was completely fine with it and I even offered to reschedule for a completely different day to give the Therapist all the time she needs. The receptionist said no it's fine we'll just move your facial to 1:30 then your massage will follow shortly afterwards. Which I agreed, and before hanging up I checked again with the receptionist to make sure my appointment time would be good because this is a Mother's Day gift from my husband, I don't want a bad experience, I want to enjoy my time there, things need to go smoothly, and I definitely want both services to be one right after the other. She reassured me everything would be fine and then we ended the call. Well the day of my appointment arrives 5/19. I pull into the parking lot getting ready to exit my vehicle and my phone rings at 1:28pm. The receptionist was calling to inform me that I can receive my facial at 1:30pm but my Massage Therapist had a family emergency and now my massage will have to be moved to 5:00pm, that's the next available time with her. I informed the receptionist I needed to pick up my sons cap and gown for his graduation graduation today so that's not going to work and since I can't receive my services one right after the other I'm no longer interested in getting any services done here with such short notice. I asked can I receive a refund and she said "Yes" I told her I will call my husband and let him know about what happened and I proceeded to leave. My husband went in person to try and fix the situation by speaking with Sabrina. I came back to the establishment shortly after. I began to speak with Sabrina and she informed me that I should've came in and received the facial at my scheduled time 1:30pm then I could have received my massage afterwards. My Massage Therapist would have probably just been late and they would have let me enjoy the VIP room until she arrived. The Therapist didn't have a family emergency she had a death in the family. I informed her that was not stated on the phone call I received at 1:28pm, the person that called me told me that the Massage Therapist I was scheduled with had a family emergency and I needed to be moved to the next available time which was 5PM. She continued to go back and forth with me and stated this whole situation could have been avoided if I would have just came in to get the facial at 1:30pm and I told her NO this whole situation could have been avoided if I would have just been rescheduled for another day on the first call I received on 5/13. At this point I was requesting a full refund because I was completely done with the situation, I was extremely unsatisfied as a customer at this point. She informed me that we couldn't have a refund of course, so I requested the name of the owner and asked that she have the owner contact me. Who ever owns this establishment needs to know that Sabrina lacks customer service and management skills, I realized that when she continued to go back and forth with me and addressed my husband as " Your boyfriend, fiancé, husband, who ever he is" while he was standing right there at the counter VERY DISTASTEFUL. I did correct her and let her know he is my husband. Moral of the story save yourself a headache, don't put down any deposit (they won't refund you) even if it's there fault they can't provide your services as scheduled or agreed upon, and book somewhere else. If I could give this place 0 stars I definitely would. This place is nice on the inside but the customer service and how this business is ran is very poor and Sabrina supposedly "The Manager" is a complete joke and lacks respect for customers and needs to be fired. read more

Prior to my service at the spa, I was experiencing intense aching and tension in my shoulders. So I decided to get a deep tissue massage with Katrina. Coming into the spa, the staff was so welcoming addressed me checked me in and in a promptly manner brought me back to the room. Katrina was absolutely fantastic. She was very attentive to any of my medical history and the reason for my visit. Throughout the massage she consistently asked me if I was feeling OK and if anything was hurting. She focused on my main points that were troublesome. Overall my experience was fantastic! I was able to truly relax and let go. I would highly recommend Katrina as a massage therapist! As she knows what her clients need and listens to what her clients would like. To date I've experienced waxes, facials, full body massages, couple massages and a friend spa day which also included the whirl pool. Every time I leave Essentials, I leave even better than when I entered. The staff is phenomenal and always accommodating. First I will say that the facial I received from Sabrina was wonderful and i will consider coming back for this service however there are a few things to note before scheduling an appointment here. I don't think this is a true Spa experience where you could come with a girlfriend or just spend a day of pampering and book multiple services. 1. they only have 1 shower and 1 bathroom in the locker room. This is very inconvenient as you have to wait our turn to shower and if you have services booked back to back with 15 minutes in between does not allow for enough time. Since this spa offers a whirlpool, sauna and steam room i was quite surprised to find only 1 shower in the facility. when i finished my treatment 2 ladies were waiting to take a shower. 2. The locker room does not even have a hair dryer or cotton balls to remove makeup. Every spa i have been to has these simple items that really add to the experience and comfort level of guests. even the gym provides this basic items. i booked a whirlpool and facial. Before my service started, i was explicitly told many times that i cannot enter the waiting area or my facial room with any wet clothing/bathing suit. I must be completely dry and changed out of my swim wear. They also told me the whirlpool experience was 30 minutes and would turn off the large jets at that time and come escort me back to the locker room to get ready for my facial at 11. While sitting in the whirlpool room no one came to get me but i was starting to get overheated so i decided to exit "early" or so i thought. Upon exiting i found i only had 3 minutes left to my facial appointment. This was disturbing not only bc the regulation is only 30 minutes due to safety/health and no one was back to check on me nor did the jets turn off which they should automatically for health regulations! I rushed to attempt to change out of my bathing suit quickly as to not lose any of my facial time. The esthetician came to find me in the locker room and i hurried along. this really did deter from my experience as it left me no time to shower or wash the chlorine off my skin/body before my facial. Of course i did not want to wash after my facial and remove all the wonderful creams/serums she applied. i brought this to the attention of the associates upon check out and they said they came to get me but i had already exited. again the time you came to get me was already 15 minutes late as i am sure you can see on the camera footage. Lastly, i arrived about 10 minutes early for my appointment so i could fill out any needed forms and get ready for my treatment. When i arrived i was told i was early and could wait in the lobby. I was also surprised by this as most spas welcome you to the locker room to get dressed and you can wait in the waiting area until your treatment time and begin your experience. I frequent many spas including privai in arlington and landsdowne and those places offer a true spa experience. read more

My appointment with Hope was for a 60 min therapeutic massage and within the first 90 seconds I was kicking myself for not scheduling a longer massage. She's attentive and thorough. First visit two weeks ago for a facial. I was looking forward to a relaxing experience as I'm resuming pre pandemic self care and moved to the area from Alexandria a few years ago where I received services at the Lorien spa. At Essentials I was greeted by two ladies and checked in. I arrived 10 mins early as I'd completed paperwork online. I was advised to have a seat and aesthetician would be out shortly. I noticed staff coming in and out of the spa area while I'm the only person sitting in the waiting area. Only one person made eye contact and greeted me and she was from the salon side. Approx 6-8 mins after my top of the hour appt time my name was called. I was greeted and escorted back to prepare for facial. I'm estimating the facial began between 4:10-4:15. During my wait, no information was offered about the salon, no tour, Kaitlyn did not offer to share this information either. The facial was enjoyable, but I'm assuming it was a basic facial of sorts. I paid for an hour, but the service was completed at 4:51. My estimation is that I received a 20 min facial but paid for an hour. The spa is beautiful, clean and the aroma relaxing, however, I never received any feedback or observations about my skin, there were no product recommendations and no questions from the information I submitted online. In my 15 years receiving facials in various locations in the US and abroad, I expected an experience and a sense of being welcomed as a paying customer. Maybe times have changed. My husband scheduled a surprise massage as a Mother's Day gift. At this appointment, my husband paid. I left and came back and booked an appointment for my mom as a surprise for her birthday. While booking the appointment, the receptionist took my name, phone number, and email (no credit card information). I did not give them my mom's info because again this was a surprise. Because this was nearly a month ago, I forgot about the appointment. I received no call, email, or text reminding me of this appointment. Instead, I receive a phone call 10 min after the scheduled appointment stating that I missed it and will be charged $100 fee for services that were not rendered. I asked if they send reminders and they said yes. I received no appointment confirmation, no courtesy reminder, nothing! They were not able to locate when they sent these reminders that they claimed to have sent and then later said that they didn't send me a reminder because it was notated as a surprise for my mom. I gave them MY information upon booking and the receptionist said that they would remind me but they did not follow through.I asked what card they're using to charge this fee and the number they gave me was my husband's credit card. Huh? Why are you holding on to credit card information for a one time service? We did not sign up for a subscription. This was not to be a reoccurring card payment and my husband did not schedule this appointment nor authorize this transaction. If there was to be a card on file, that information should've been requested at booking (not storing and using a card that my husband used in the past). These were two completely separate appointments. The person I spoke with told me about they're cancellation policy on their website stating that they charge the total of the service for "no shows." I was a walk in so I had not visited the website, I was not told about this in person, and I had no documentation stating this. Although the person I spoke with was patient, and the service I received in the past was good, I would not recommend this place due to this flawed business practice. Since then, I have requested an email from them stating that they will delete our card information and have escalated this issue with our bank. If you choose to support this business, make sure they don't misuse your credit card information. When asked about paperwork over the phone, you all provided no documentation. My husband and I both asked for documentation several times and you all provided nothing. I did not opt out of any notification, all I stated was that it was a surprise for my mother and again I did not provide her information, I provided mine. In fact, when my husband booked this service as a surprise for me you all provided him the courtesy reminder but dropped the ball in this same instance. You all used card information that was not authorized because you pulled information from when MY HUSBAND paid for a one time service for me not when I made an appointment for my mom. I wasn't even aware that my information was previously on file because again my husband booked that service, not me. If anything, you all should at least have asked "is this card on file okay" at the time of booking to which I would've responded no. You all stated you only verify once, even if I was a retuning customer, payment methods may change from service to service so it's important to verify not just pull from a random card thats has nothing to do with the card holder. Verification is always better than an assumption. At least, that is what I'm used to when receiving services from others in the "spa industry." Hopefully you all use this experience as an opportunity for growth especially when people are using their hard earned money for what is to be a luxury experience. Hands down best Day Spa that I have been to. From the customer service as you walk in to the services that you receive. I have been to both Hope and Will, they are amazing at what they do. Very dedicated Massage Therapists that listen to your exact needs that you request. They both have outdone themselves. Definitely will be back. Also to all the ladies out there I was informed that they will soon offer SUGARING which you can't find locally around here. Closest place that offers sugaring is in Alexandria, can't wait!!!
