I addressed a few health issues, which none of the doctors in walk in clinic, would really care about. Dr. Cole took her time to listen, understand and offered the best treatment. I heard great things about naturopathic medicine so I found my way to Dr. Cashin at Juniper Family Health. She took the time to go over my history and understand the issues I've been having and she told me about something called SIBO (which until now I hadn't read too much about, even with my IBS research online). I took a test and was so relieved. After three years of suffering, I finally knew why I was having so many issues (including fatigue). I've been in treatment now for about two months and I feel SO. MUCH. BETTER. If only I had gone in earlier. I love that Juniper Family Health also has other members on staff to contribute to your care, including a great nutritionist and another doctor who helped me get vitamins through an IV drip for the last four weeks. I feel very well cared for, and I always feel like the staff listens and pays a great deal of attention to my health concerns. Until going in to have naturopathic treatment I had almost given up and now I feel like I have more of my life back. I'm starting to feel normal for the first time in years!

She listens to you, then listens to your body as she works it. For example, my wife and I had both very different needs and we both got very different but still amazing massages. +Experienced - If I recall correctly, she used to do massage for the entire UVic row team, and then eventually a wrestling team. Also, as is evident from the other reviews, she provides a relaxing and therapeutic atmosphere. +Strong - Don't be fooled with conventional sexist wisdom that only men can provide the strength needed to work you over. Sheril is armed with hands that could probably kill, but you softies out there, don't be discouraged. As she says, "I like to work just before the 'u' in 'ouch'". She can give you the strength you need (and/or want for you pain loving fanatics). +The "je ne sais quoi", the "Undefineable" - I have noticed that lots of reviewers have commented on their experience with Sheril as magical, the best, fantastic, etc. Lots of these experiences boil down to Sheril's most valuable skill as a masseuse: she knows people and uses this knowledge to the massage completely theirs. Dr Winston proceeded to inject my trigeminal nerve with a freezing agent without discussing it with me other than a cursory few comments. He had the syringe ready before he even saw me based on his student's interpretation of my history. This was not informed consent, which I didn't have. In 1980, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled, in the landmark case of Reibl v. Hughes, that patients should be told what the doctor intends to do, as well as what the significant material risks are, and anything else that a reasonable person in that patient's condition would want to be told. I suffered extreme pain and permanent damage to my nerve and temporal mandibular joint. Beware of Dr Winston and Shelbourne Physiotherapy for their association with a doctor who doesn't believe in informed consent. This was the worst medical trauma I've ever experienced.

IMS is not for everyone, since it involves sticking acupuncture needles into sore muscles. But it works like a hot damn.

It was bad enough I had to cut back on dog walks (out Doodle was not happy with this). Reviewing the medical literature I found out there was a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of my condition. After multiple phone calls to clinics offering dermal fillers (mostly for cosmetic procedures) I found the practice of Dr. Anna Sylwestrowicz, MD . The office was very accommodating with my unique inquiry and agreed to meet with me just to discuss my diagnosis and treatment plan. One of the most vital requirements for a good medical outcome is a solid 'Doctor-Patient' relationship that starts with an open and frank discussion. I found my conversation with Dr. Anna (as she prefers to be addressed) to be all a patient could ask for. We jointly came up with a plan, discussed the various dermal fillers on the market, her experience with their use, possible outcomes and hoped for outcomes. I agreed to the procedure. Three weeks before the start of my hike, Dr. Anna injected my left heel pad with dermal filler. The procedure itself was tolerable and I walk out of the office with an order to 'take it easy' with my walking. For the first 5-6 days I was sore at the injection site but that was too be expected. After a week, I restarted my daily dog walks (much to the pleasure of our Doodle) and gradually increased my mileage. On April 23rd, 2026 I found my self hiking south on the Appalachian Trail from the small village of Damascus, Virginia. I was planned on keeping my daily mileage under 20km while carrying 15kg of pack. At that point, my heel was pain free. I hiked for a month pain free. I ended this section of the Trail in the very tourist town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This was a distance of 400km-pain free! Considering the pain, I was in prior to the injection of dermal filler this was a remarkable medical outcome. I am very, very pleased. As for the future, there are 333km left for me to complete. I will be back to the Trail in September for finish that section. Thank you to Dr. Anna and her staff in joining me on this journey!

She does take her time with each patient so punctuality is not her strong suit but it helps to be very thorough especially in a place like Victoria where she has to deal with old, heavily medicated people on a daily basis. Very warm, caring and highly competent, like her husband who works in the clinic with her (except her husband is not as warm and caring!). Great staff, takes a bit of time for them to even remotely warm up to you but otherwise, they're highly efficient and get the job done. My rating is for the doc herself. Expect to wait longer at this place as it is quite a busy place (even with an appointment!). Plenty of metered street parking but because of the wait times, I suggest just take transit. It'll make the waiting a lot more pleasant because you don't have to keep looking over your shoulder to see if the evil parking police is ticketing you.
