Absolutely love Essence Nails Spa! This place holds such fond memories for me from when I was younger. I used to come here all the time, and the experience was always amazing. Vicki is phenomenal she always made sure everything was perfect, and her attention to detail is unmatched. The entire team is so warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. Highly recommend this spa to anyone looking for top notch service and a truly relaxing experience read more

I went in for a pedicure and a manicure. I got the deluxe pedicure, which was supposed to include a massage which I did not get. She slathered some lotion on my legs and then wiped it off with a towel. There was no massage involved then I had a manicure with gel polish. My polish looks like, a 10-year-old did it. It looks absolutely horrible. I tried to call back today twice to speak with someone and they're not answering the phone apparently. This is the second time that I have gone there and left unhappy. I'm just not going to go back. read more

I was not happy when I got done. My nail tech was rushing to get done. She left dirt under my middle finger on my left hand and also she cut my cuticle on my right hand on my pinky. When she went back and sprayed my hand with the alcohol in the spray bottle it hurt my finger and I yelled "that hurts". I will not be returning to essence nails anymore. read more

I went there over the weekend for my first and last time. I wouldn't even rate this place. From the time the lady sat down to do my feet she was hateful. She jerked on my feet told to relax which I already was. She kept trying have my feet flat on top of the station where they work on your feet and the only way that would be possible is if I stood up. She didn't even cut my toenails. When I got my fingernails done I ask for round shape I got square. When I told her I wanted the round shape she rolled her eyes at me. She jerked and yanked on my hands the same as she did my feet. she squeezed my fingers and would poke her nails into the sides of my fingers at times as har as she could. She just seemed like a very unhappy person to me and did not need to be working with the public. I'll never go back. read more

I was there today with an appointment at 10:45am And 30 minutes later I am still sitting there and have not been acknowledged. Then they ask me to soak my gel polish and 20 minutes later still soaking(it does not take this long to soak) meanwhile someone who just walked In the door starts getting her nails done within minutes of walking in the door. Ended up leaving an hour later. Charged me $5.00 and no apology. Will not return. I will go somewhere that appreciates their customers. Do not recommend. You schedule an appointment for a reason! read more

I don't live here but was staying a few months. Needed my nails done so I picked the only place with a good review. (To be honest it was the only place with a review) came here and the owner did my pedicure and SNS nails himself. Did a great job and I was very happy. Had to go back in a few weeks and was passed off to some younger technician who did a lousy job on my pedicure and an even worse job on my nails. My SNS nails crumbled off within days and my feet started scaling within days. I didn't pay for the cheap stuff either. Either make sure the owner does your nails or do like I am doing a find some place else. read more

I've been here three times and am very happy with it. They do a very good job and are very efficient. I came here the first time at the recommendation of a close friend. I would recommend it to everyone. read more

I will NEVER go back! The first 2 times were great when Charlie did my nails. Everyone else.... not at all. I get SNS so that they last and my nails are better but when he doesn't do them, they break everytime! Last time I got them done the girl tried to leave the old polish in my fingers, not finger nails, after she did the SNS. I had to tell her to take it off. Why would I pay good money to get my nails done and then she use going to leave that on my fingers? It's not like it wasn't noticeable either! A week later, if that, my mail broke. I went in to get it fixed, told Vicki the owners wife, and she said it will be awhile. I asked her if she would like me to come back in an hour so that gave her time to work on the people ahead of me. She said an hour works. I came back. Waited 2 hours for a 10 minute job. She tells me not to break another nail like it was my fault.A week later another nail broke. Done! Did my own nails. Thanks for saving me all that money people! read more

Very long review but a must read if you're considering this horrible salon. So, I just moved to Mt. Airy and decided to try this salon out, hoping to secure a new favorite local salon. This was one of the only salons in the area with reviews on Yelp, so I went for it. I opted to get "mermaid nails" which is the chrome gel polish option. The nail tech first of all put the wrong color on my nails. The color I selected was "number three" however she put the roman numeral three color on my nails. I was fine with this, even though it wasn't what I wanted. Mind you, these nails cost $45 so it's not a cheap option at all. The owner of the salon did give me $10 off (the extra charge for the chrome nail color option) for the mix-up so that was nice. He seemed very nice and was apologetic...that changed though... The very next day, the chrome color started to chip off of my nails. I work an office job, so it's not like I'm hard on my nails or anything. So, I contacted the salon to inquire about having my nails redone. The owner directed me to come in whenever was convenient for me to get them fixed. So I show up that evening and the salon was pretty slammed. The owner seemed frazzled. He hurt my nails by filing the gel color off, not soaking with aluminum foil like is required of gel polish. He had an attitude the entire time, acted like I did something wrong with my nails or something. He then had trouble applying the polish, I'm not sure why. He said "I don't know what's happening...it's not sticking." He finished up, didn't charge me, and I went home. This man didn't even acknowledge me when I left the salon, I said thank you have a nice night and he said NOTHING. Again, acted like he was mad at me...for their screw-up. That evening...mere hours after getting the new polish...my nails chipped. Over the next two days, my nails chipped off so much to the point that I cut them down short to try to hide the chipping. I'm so disappointed with the place and will NEVER be back. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone, ever. It was such an unfortunate experience. read more

I made an appointment for a 6:30 regular manicure. When I walk in and tell them that, they hand me a gel swatch. I tell her I just want a regular manicure and she tells me that won't last? I tell her I prefer polish and she has me pick my color and sit down "over there." As I'm waiting I'm noticing all the crap lying around, cluttered counters, and uncared for tools. After a short wait she tells me to move and sit in that chair- directly between two people. I squeeze in and my manicure begins. She again asks again why I don't want gel. I understand them wanting to upsell but I found it very uncomfortable. My nails aren't filed enough, they're rough and catching on fabric. She tells me to wash my hands but there's no towels anywhere. I wipe my hands on my jeans, leaving fuzzies. She disappears while I'm washing my hands. She comes back and starts to paint- but she's standing up and holding my arm so I kind of have to keep my arm in the air and try to keep still. As she's polishing I can feel it getting on my skin. She wipes it with her nail- which really just spreads it around. (I ended up going to buy some acetone to clean up my nails immediately after.) She smudges my thumb while hastily removing some stray polish and just paints over it. A crusty bit of top coat from a gross bottle gets in my nail and nothing is done about it. The whole service feels rushed- like she's just doing it fast so she can get to a higher paying client. I spent more time waiting. She tells me to go dry my nails, and I assumed she would grab my purse like all of the other nail techs there- but no, my purse was just left on the floor. She also didn't ask me to pay first, so I had to dig through my purse with wet nails. That was partially on me, I should have asked to pay first. Everyone was very nice but service was poor. I wouldn't waste your money here. read more

I always go and get my nails done here but one day they had a new man and I had only been going here maybe 3-4 months I don't know all the staff but this man does my nails well he paints them I hit my nail on something and messed it up. I was trying to tell him and I told him I want a design I normally tell them to do anything with a my color but as I was picking my color the man told me to "hurry up" the manager was sitting right there. He didn't do anything I still had to pay for getting treated rude. Never again will I go back. And I don't want anybody to go back and get treated the way I did. read more
