Be amazed! My friends in Mexico City haven't heard of this restaurant yet but I hope the word gets out.
If you are expecting an ambiance like Pujol, this restaurant is not it, but if you're looking for amazing food and great service, this restaurant is for you. First off, I love that this restaurant is so cozy and on a terrace. This restaurant isn't like a typical fancy Michelin rated restaurant, but it has its own charm and it's very relaxed. The staff here are energetic and fun! We came here for lunch.
The staff recommended we order everything off the menu and share it (we were a party of 2) and I have to tell you, it was perfect. So let's get on with the food:
Starters
Tostada with butternut squash, corn and etc - it was so delicious.
Croquette - delicious
You just have to get both dishes, it's worth it!
Next course
Shrimp and veggies over plantain - delicious the flavors of the veggies were on point!
Chickpea salad with bread - good and filling
Mains
Grilled fish with potatoes and bean salad - delicious. The flavors of this dish were amazing.
Wagyu in mole - The meat was so tender and the flavors were powerful. (Note: we dined at Pujol for dinner later in the evening and Esquina Comun's Wagyu beats Pujol that we didn't even finish the wagyu there - it was too chewy)
We were so full we had to say no to desserts. :(
Overall, I'd highly recommend this restaurant if you are a foodie. Thanks Chef Ana Dolores Gonzalez and your amazing staff for a wonderful lunch.
Note: There is a person outside the restaurant but you may get confused bc you can't find the restaurant, it looks like a coffee shop of some sort. Once you check in with the person, they will lead you to the stairs to the terrace. Just ask someone where the restaurant is if you get lost on the street. read more
