Espuma in Spanish: translates to Foam in English?? Wth? How do I go on after that translation? Having lived outside of Miami, Florida for several years, and I still don't recall ever hearing that one! Let's just say it's probably a good thing!
I don't actually recall how I ended up finding this place, but it's an interesting concept, regardless of it's "Spanish tapas" menu, let's face it, it's not really, but whatever you want to call it, if you know what I mean. I've dined here twice before but I guess I wasn't that wowed by it but what I do like is the fact that I can order a coffee one minute and the next minute can be a mojito or sangria which is why I brought hubby here recently. Neither one of us could decide if we wanted lunch, appetizer, coffee or other type of beverage. Espuma came to mind mainly because we were in Central near Wyndham Street.
Hidden off the street in the Wellington Place building on the 17th floor, it offers a one-eyed view of the buildings crammed into the Peak as well as narrow views of a few streets in Central.
I'm not super crazy about their menu, and feel the food is just mediocre, but I will vouch for their chocolate mint macchiato ($42 HK). They also have beautifully platted waffles (had previously). This time we split their Avocado and Prawn Salad ($98 HK) until I said I was still hungry and we caved and ordered their Nachos ($108 HK). Both left me unsatisfied but hunger pangs had finally shushed. I took a few sips of hubby's Macchiato and decided it would be my dessert drink. It was delicious. Probably the same amount of calories as if I had a brownie, but I'll just drink this one and not even get a buzz! Nice.
Service can be hit or miss depending upon what time you are there. The overall ambiance is cozy and chill. It is spacious at about 1000 sq feet. Lots of windows and tables to see outside. It appears couples and girlfriends like to come here for their afternoon tea sessions.
In short, I come because I when I'm indecisive, I can find something to eat, just please don't let it be foam!! Lol! read more
