The environment is more of a hipster bar than a restaurant with about 2 dozen craft beers, high table seating, exposed brick wall, billiard table, electronic darts arcade, and chill music playing overhead. The burger is a bit of a cross between a gourmet and bar style burger. Simple handmade patty, but presented well in a mess-containing wooden tray. I usually go with a standard cheeseburger to truly assess a new burger joint, but opted for the Handmade US Angus Beer and Mushroom Burger ($88) with American cheese and sautéed mushrooms and onions. The burger was cooked medium by default (without being asked) and juices started dripping out when I went for my first bite. The meat was flavorful and the American cheese reminded me of my childhood. The bun was slightly over toasted that made it less malleable around the burger, but it just made it a little messier. The bun also had a slight sweetness that surprisingly accompanied the burger well. The best bet for a burger in Kennedy Town (as of current), I'll be back for the same burger and also try some of the other non-beef burger options as well as starters and snacks.

They do their own version of migas where instead of chunks of potato they use crispy potato strips and replace the poached egg with an onsen egg. This disease really good and I would definitely order this again. My favorite part of the meal was the ham and truffle sandwich. I'm a sucker for black truffle and the truffle really shines through here. The cheese was melted nicely and the bread was nicely toasted. This hits all the notes I look for in a sandwich. The fried white bait was also good. Of the tapas this was my least favorite but it was still tasty. These little fried fishes paired really nicely with the aioli and would be a nice complement to a beer or alcoholic beverage. The mains were ok and not as good as the tapas. We had the sea bass and the pork. Of the two the sea bass was better. It had a nice crispy skin and the dill and onions paired nicely. The sauce it came with I didn't like too much. Next time I think I will pay the extra 40 hkd to upgrade to the beef. We had the lemon parfait and the churros for dessert and both were pretty good but not great. I was a bit disappointed with the churros. They didn't come out hot and weren't as crispy as I would like. The chocolate sauce it came with was good and helped make up for the churro. The lemon parfait was different from what I expected. It was more like a lemon cake. It was nice and tart and the cookie crumbs it came with gave a nice sweetness and crunch to contrast the texture of the parfait. All in all I would definitely come back. At a minimum for happy hour to have some tapas and cocktails.

I tried several reds before settling instead on a glass of prosecco which better fit the warm air. The reds were fine but nothing special. The prosecco was nice; dry and light. My buddy had the red sangria, which tasted like sweet fruit punch, almost like an Xmas drink. The views were middling: from Lan Kwai Fong sweeping east across Central and Admiralty into the hills above the Zoological and Botanical Gardens. No stunning harbour views or dizzying heights, but totally enjoyable nonetheless. Perhaps improved by the surrounding office windows which become fishbowls for observation at a certain evening hour. The atmosphere was superb! Just kidding. It too was middling. There was a nice breeze blowing across the roof, but the decor was strange - it was very dark and there were little orb lamps that just hadn't been turned on. The tables and chairs seemed to be lacking something, whether they just needed a good wipe down or their matching cushions were gone. And the whole place gave off the air of being a bit forgotten and empty, parts of the bar covered in plastic wrap and only one lonely server inattentively serving because his phone was more interesting than the clientele. Bar seating and dark chic deco. They highlight their whisky list, but for dinner I sticked to wine. We started with Fried Scarmoza (Italian milk cheese, similar to Mozzarella). It brought me back to rice cake somehow, haha. Then classic meatballs. I broke my rules for beef and finished two of them. And we finished first drinks and looking out for the rib. 72 hour Spare Rib. The long waited piece arrived while sizzling. The little fat in between is perfect for the texture. And the Strozzapretti Pasta with homemade Sausage marked my night. I had a few best pasta in NYC. This one is the closest I found in HK. The rosemary, thyme balanced the tomato base and defines homemade. It is a must-try. The pasta is made without eggs. See how you like that.

The restaurant is located on the 18th Floor at One Nathan overlooking Victoria Harbor. It is a small yet cozy elegant space, with high ceilings and grand decor. The design was inspired by local award-winning actress, Carina Lau. The food on offer it is a fusion of Spanish and Japanese cuisine, with a menu designed by Pedro Samper, although he's not behind the stoves at the moment. Besides set lunch and a tasting menu, Zurriola's a la carte is extensive, as well as its dessert and wine menus (with 20 pages filled with reds, whites, cavas and champagnes!). Zurriola's well trained service awarded the restaurant the 'best service' during Hong Kong Restaurant Week in 2014 and they offered a set lunch that we decided to try. In fact, the service is great: they seem very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food. I picked the 'presa' salad as a starter. For me, it was a little disappointing. Having been raised in the land of Iberico, I know how a good presa tastes like and this dish seemed bland to me. So, I was curious as how the main would come. I went for the grilled salmon with asparagus emulsion: it was a very small portion, and it tasted okay. Very well presented and well done dish, but nothing special. However, the dessert, melted chocolate and ice cream, made up for the rest. Set lunch was around 230 HKD per head, which I thought was reasonable. Although I wasn't impressed with the food, I did love the space, the views and the atmosphere.
