I used to love this place despite the slow speed, but then they got even slower. I stopped coming here for a year and came back a couple days ago and it literally took 18 minutes to get my order. I was only third in line. I always time my visits because it's just so slow. I like to know how slow it is. The first car took 7 minutes for 3 drinks (one blended and two iced). The second car took 6 minutes for 2 blended drinks. My order took 5 minutes for 2 blended drinks. I used to work for Caffino in the 90s - we got everyone out in 60 seconds or less, blended drinks and everything. We had to pass tests to maintain speed. Apparently ES doesn't care about speed. It doesn't help that they always under staff, which makes them even slower. Another reason I stopped going here because I like the brewed coffee, but the last 6 times I wanted it, they either didn't have any left and didn't have plans to make any more - and I had to ask them to make more (and sometimes they didn't want to make it) - or it was ice cold and I asked them to make me a fresh pot and they wanted to heat up the cold coffee with a steam wand (yuck!). They don't keep their brewed coffee on a timer, apparently, so they don't brew more according to freshness... they just... brew it whenever it runs out. When this place was run by the same manager who ran the previous Stomping Grounds, it was my favorite place. Now I'm 100% Gravity Coffee since the day they opened across the street... and nobody can change my mind. They just do everything right. The speed, the service, everything. It's more expensive and I am happy to pay double or even triple for their quality. And I don't have to repeat my order five times, either, to multiple people who just look confused about what's going on. These two stars are purely for friendly baristas and tasty coffee. Espresso Stop has been a favorite for us for a few years (since we moved to Edgewood in 2009). The baristas are always friendly, quick to remember what you order, and great at making coffee. And I'm picky! Since the stand has come under new management (just the last couple of months), it has become even better! It's a great place for any drink! Highly recommend! read more

Had to edit my review. Maybe it just the ladies in the morning but when I came through I ordered my usual. I could hear the girls talk about my drink and comment with an "Eww gross." " I like this kinda drink but not like that." I mean I can literally hear them talk negatively about my drink. Not to mention they were talking amongst themselves and not being engaging to me the customer. It rubbed me the wrong way. Why would I want to come back if you make bad comments about what I order? I can go to Bigfoot Java and get the same thing and they're open 24-7. I still think this place makes amazing Italian sodas but I'm not a fan of rude service. Originally gave them 5 stars now they are 3 maybe even a 2.5 in my opinion. Their saving grace is the ladies that work the evening shift. I never have an issue with any of them. read more

I buy 15-20 big foot coffees a week, I recently moved to the area a couple months ago, so I made this my regular stand. Up until a couple weeks ago the coffees were great. Then they hired new people and since then the coffees have had too much milk added to them or made way wrong! I try to catch the girls that have been there longer! If not, I will usually return them and have them remake it! 2 days ago, same thing happened and my husband returned it.. They remade it.. This time adding even more soy milk that the lid didn't fit. It was worse than the first coffee! I just sucked it up and drank it, but I'm starting to drive farther, just for better quality coffee. If I'm paying $6 for a coffee, I want what I pay for correct! At LEAST the second time they make it! read more

I am surprised that this place doesn't have better reviews. I am a big coffee drinker and love trying new places, on a search to find the perfect coffee I guess. After coming across this place on a whim while I was in the area I was completely taken away. The taste of the coffee beans remind me of a little place up in Alaska that I just LOVED until they closed down. I have only been here 3 times now and can't say much about the quality of service except that the 3 times I went, the baristas were very friendly and made my drinks perfect. I love the variety in drinks and the prices are better than Starbucks. I was also excited to see that they have Almond milk! I ordered a funky monkey with almond milk and it was the best coffee ever! I live a bit out of the way but anytime I plan on being in the area, it is now considered a must stop to enjoy some delicious coffee. The coffee was alright. It was a challenge to order a second drink since the barista was having a personal conversation with the car on the other side, but I ended up getting both drinks. I would go back when I am in the area but there are a lot of other shops around that I haven't tried yet. There wasn't anything about this experience that made me want to keep coming back. read more

I'm updating my review to four stars as I wasn't coming here as frequently as my first review. Now that I live with my boyfriend in the area, this stand has become my go to. Definitely my regular coffee spot. The girls who work here are very nice and charming. We come here several times a week and they usually remember us and what we like. They are very fair about who gets served in the correct order, too. I've learned not to order anything with syrup in it as no matter who helps me, they put enough syrup in the drinks to put me into a diabetic coma. I've tried ordering half the syrup, easy on the syrup, and only a drop of syrup. But it's like a joke or something I'm not getting - each drink getting sweeter then the last. So after throwing away AT LEAST 10 coffees from here that weren't drinkable, I got smart. I will say that the lines here get pretty crazy. Being in the best location can have its drawbacks. Everyone seems to go to this stand. The only other coffee stand that is as convenient is the bikini barista in the next parking lot. And I'm not brave enough for that. So if there are more then two cars on either side of this stand, we just forget it. Because of so many regulars, the conversations get lengthy with customers and you wait in line forever. I've lived in Edgewood for a long time and this has been my go to coffee spot but after today I won't be back. I pulled up to the window and sat there a good 3-5 minutes before they even spoke to me....um, okay. The car on the other side was pulling away, so its not like they were busy with a customer. But they were definitely busy chatting it up with each other like I wasn't even there. I was about to pull away when they finally acknowledge me. I ordered 3 drinks, and every single one of them was wrong. They fixed one (all they had to do was warm it up, I mean it was a hot chocolate, not chocolate milk, yes it was that cold the first time out). The second drink was supposed to be an Americano, we realized it was a latte after we pulled away and didn't have time to go back and get it fixed. The third drink, that was mine, I ordered a 24oz ICED vanilla latte, light vanilla, 2 shots, whole milk. What I got was a 20oz hot vanilla latte, they remade it, into a 20oz iced vanilla latte. When I handed back again to the very annoyed girl, she poured it into a 24oz cup and then dumped a ton of vanilla flavoring in it. Um.....that's still not what I ordered, but did I get a chance to say anything, nope. They just handed it to me and walked off. I couldn't drink it, it was beyond disgusting and full of vanilla syrup. When someone says light vanilla, that doesn't mean dump in a whole bottle cause you're angry. Maybe if you guys paid more attention to your customers and less attention to each other you would've got my order right the first time. read more

I used to come here every day with my boyfriend since we both grew up just down the road. The girls were always friendly and knew our drinks. They were quick and the coffee was great. Since we moved to Tacoma we haven't been able to come through as often but recently I noticed almost all of the girls have changed which is fine, but today we went through and another new barista was working. We spent $10 on coffee and tipped $2. When we drove away I tasted my coffee and it was the WORST coffee I have ever tasted. It pains me to say that I dumped my coffee down the sink as soon as we got home. I have never been so disappointed in a drink. It's really sad because I always talk this place up but Starbucks just opened across the street and I don't like Starbucks but ANYTHING would have been better than that coffee.... I really hope this was just an unfortunate occurrence. I will be back but for the love of coffee please step your game up... no hard feelings guys. read more

Living in Milton, I regularly stop at Spoonful of Sugar and Espresso Stop. Since the Cafe Elite opened a few months ago, I've added that to my list. They all make decent iced lattes. That said, there have been a few concerns with ES. The service can be very slow, even if I'm the only one in line, and often cars are backed up three deep on each side of the building in the mornings. In contrast, Spoonful of Sugar is almost instant - I give them the money, they hand me the latte. Does Espresso Stop have different machines? Also, although this hasn't been as much of a problem lately, the baristas at ES are too chatty with the male customers to the point of ignoring a female customer (and slowing down the service). I suppose it gets them better tips, but it's annoying. Finally, I now have to order a double shot because the lattes started to get too milky a while back. They're going to have to step up their game especially now that Starbucks is opening directly across the street, AND a new coffee shop is opening a couple blocks away on Milton Way. read more
