A nice little gourmet coffee roaster / coffee shop. This is a cute place with good coffee. I thought the two people working here were helpful and friendly. The detractors are that it is more like a drive through than a cafe. Folks just pull up and grab a cup and there is no real place to sit and chat or work. Even just standing there chatting with my compatriot, I felt like the workers were part of the conversation -- there is something echoey and antispetic about the space. But can also be bright and sunny and I like the local chocolate bars they carry. read more

I loved my lavender vanilla bean latte! Perfect combination of strong coffee offset with just the right amount of sweetness. The small size was bigger than I expected- my bf and I shared and we couldn't finish it. This coffee shop is really quite nice and I would never have noticed it had I not looked up coffee shops on Yelp first. By far the best coffee house in southeast Michigan, period. Tetesa and her crew are amazing at what they do--true Artisans. You cannot even compare this place to Starbucks, Panera, Tim Hortons, or any other chain coffee shop. They bring in the best beans from amazing coffee growing regions of the world and roast them to perfection. Prices are very fair. It is not cheap, but you are not getting a cheap product. Everything is organic, or if not, at least homemade in-house. They roast their own coffee in small batches in a room off to the side of the sitting area. Their drinks are very unique, and they are always coming up with something new depending on the season. I recommend trying one of the seasonal drinks, or if you're not into something like that, just try a pour-over coffee. Please please please try it black before adding cream or sugar. Sweeteners and creams do nothing but mask the actual flavors of the coffee, so do yourself a favor and give it a few steps before adding anything. Then, next time try a different roast and have a few sips of it black to see if you can tell the difference. Your tongue will start to appreciate the differences in the different coffee regions in roasting profiles. It's really quite interesting. So, again, give Teresa a chance. I never knew I could love coffee so much. After suffering through the chain coffee house offerings for years, I damn near gave up on the idea of coffee being good. In my travels overseas I learned that coffee could be awesome, but I didn't think I'd find anything that good here. To my surprise, a trip to Espresso Elevado proved me wrong. I was instantly hooked! I typically go for their seasonal or flavored drinks. The Calabaza Latte, the Eggnog Latte, and the Sea Salt Breve are my favorites. Oh, the Lavendar latte is also wonderful. And when I say flavored I don't mean with those awful commercial syrups that even SO MANY mom and pop coffee shops use. As many wonderful independent coffee shops as there are around the Detroit area, this place easily makes it into the top 5 due to it's incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. The coffee itself is marvelous and they have a wide variety of choices at, in my opinion, more than reasonable prices. Espresso Elevado is just what the doctor ordered: an artisan coffee shop with high quality carefully chosen beans. My husband and I have been here twice since it opened and have been very satisfied with the brewed coffee (brewed freshly by cup), Americano, and Cafe Latte. You really can taste the difference in the quality of the coffee, perfect shots of espresso and the presentation is top notch. After spending some time in Seattle over the summer I was surprised at the amount of time and care that goes into each coffee beverage, even at the most hole-in-the-wall coffee shop. Arriving back in Michigan, I became even more annoyed with the typical "blah" coffee drinks that I had become accustomed to accepting. There are very few places like Espresso Elevado in the area and I'm so glad that it's so close to my home! I am hoping that the atmosphere of the shop becomes a little more "lived in" over time. Since it is new it feels sterile and a little stiff, maybe not a place that I'd want to sit and hang out. I like the concept of carrying organic baked goods (delicious, I've tried them), but I feel like the display could use some work. Overall I'm really excited about Espresso Elevado and am eager to see what happens over the next year. read more

My husband and I try to have lunch dates together while the kids are at school and we will often grab a coffee on the way back to the office. We had been going to the Biggby on Ann Arbor road, but it has not been even good lately...too bitter. So on a drive by and decided to try Espresso Elevado. The barista assured me it would be great and boy was she right. I almost ran back in to tell her. I had the lavendar vanilla bean because how often do you see something like that on the menu. I LOVED it. I really like lavendar and thought it was nice...my husband who dislikes lavendar though it tasted like a flower :-) He had a cappacino and enjoyed his coffee. Went there first with a friend because her aunt owned it, then forgot about it for a couple of years. Came back because it's right on my way to work and I was really impressed. Phenomenal craftsmanship and presentation of the lavender vanilla bean latte! The two ladies working were willing to answer any questions my friend or I had about the drink menu. For how busy the shop was when we went, they were able to get everyone their drinks in a timely manner, but without rushing the process. I've been here many times and find the coffee to be sublime. The baristas are experts at all manner of espresso and coffee drink. They also roast their own beans in small batches, offering a few different varieties but not so many that quality suffers. Then there are the rotating selections of incredible scones. There isn't an endless selection of sweets; but like the coffee, what they have is incredible. I'm delighted that the shop seems to be going strong in its location on Main Street. They have great flavors that are not too sweet, but definitely present, and the coffee itself always tastes great. The "pep" effect of the coffee is noticeably stronger to me too. I've tried many, many 'fresh roasted' beans from the only accessible places that were available to me in the past - an enjoyable adventure, but never could I escape the ending result of having been duped by hype or the inescapable logistics of trying to get fresh roasted beans from far away places. My morning coffee - FRESHLY roasted & ground just before I brewed it - is now the exquisite & savory experience it should be.
