Shelves were empty, they do not sell hot beverages, how can i eat my breakfast pastry with my coffee, that should be illegal. No seating to consume your pastry, that's insane? Why they been around for 90 years and nobody ever thought about these things. Honestly, thats - 2 stars already. Plus food or pastry dont have labels so you have to guest at what you buy unless you find a employer nearby and that was next to impossible. After you selected pastry, you take it to packaging area, then you have to get on another line to pay. Once you oay you present the ticket to the lady that packaged your items and get out. No seating and we had to go find coffee at 8am because they dont sell beverages, dis i say that??

I don't think you can go wrong here. the sandwiches and pastries are top notch. Not sure what else to say other than: visit Saint as fast as you can! Pro tip: Buy a large baguette and take it with you. They also have french butter in the cooler towards the front. They were making fun of me at first for carrying a large baguette through the city, but this bread came in clutch with my group of weary travelers even a few days later after a flight to Merida! It stayed soft in the middle (which is a sign of authenticity!)

But for now, a short walk from my Hotel Casa Corp along Benjamin Hill to Saint. Lovely place. And I opt for a dulce de keche roll and one of their special seasonal hojaldras. Two things come to mind. The first is that spellcheck changed the name of this pan de muerto to "himalaya ". The next is that the bakery borders Calle Tamaulipas which sounds a lot like Tamale Pass. Restaurant name idea? Maybe. Did I like it? It was fun. It was enjoyable. With so many choices in the city though, it may be a while before I return. Just too many places to try here.

If you visit both bakeries after 7pm, you will run the risk of limited offerings and pastry that is may already have been funbeled, so i say buy in the morning. If you go at night, unless you know exactly what you want and you had it before-Dont Buy it. The breads and pastry were dry out and hard but on the other hand they do offer a small discount for buying right before they close. The concha from panaderia madrid was better for sure and they have a chocolate concha too. I didn't try tamales but they are available in the back in a big steamer. The way you buy bread is you go around with a tray, you fill up tour tray and bring to the packaging area, she gives you a ticket, you pay and come back to the same lady that package yiur food?? Weird and it took a while to understand, that applies for coffee as well. They have a seating area in the back, nice and clean and bathrooms. Bybthe way at the front you can order tostadas, flautas, juices, oaxacan tamales and hot food beginning 8am- I can live here all day and soo affordable!

The pastries and service were delicious. While they do not have indoor seating, it was very pleasant to sit outside on the sidewalk and people-watch. We tried three different pastries: a plantain pudding pastry, a fruity meringue pastry, and a very unique peanut butter and chapulines cruffin. All were excellent. My only piece of constructive feedback is regarding the payment process. We had to pay for the pastries separately from the coffee, which made the experience less smooth. It would be much more convenient if everything could be paid for on a single check. Overall, it was a wonderful spot!

During our visit, they were offering pan de muerto for Día de los Muertos, with a creative twist: a rich chocolate filling. It was outstanding! I usually don't like fillings in my pastries, but this was the perfect amount. The pastry itself was very flakey and buttery. Nothing to write home about the mocha, however. This small bakery is off on a side street and the only reason why I found it was because I just happened to be close to exchanging money. In fact there are at least five or six other small restaurants on the same street. I bought just a single Danish that had some type of pineapple filling. There were so many more like strawberry and orange that were equally tempting. I already knew I wasn't going to go for some heavy chocolate pastry or even a concha for that matter. Calories are important these days and I think I made the right choice with the pineapple danish. The first bite is awesome!
