My daughter just moved into the old house. House needed an entire painting inside and fixing it up. God sent Esgar to rescue me from all my distress. His painting was flawless and very clean n perfect. The good thing is he did it so fast and efficiently so I could move furniture soon. He also helped me with putting a mirror and curtain stuff. He is a handyman who can do anything with excellent multi-skills. All the other guys tried to rip me off, but Esgar was very genuine, and his price was very affordable. I m so glad that I found him, and he will take care of any issues in my house. read more

We scheduled for him to come in at 8am on a Thursday. The night before, he tells me he needs to cancel because he is behind on a project. Not ideal but understandable. He tells me he will contact me between 9am and 10am the following day to let me know what day and time he can reschedule for. I call him twice around 10am and 10:30am because I hadn't heard from him. I finally hear back around 11:30am and he tells me he just woke up. read more

If I had to describe Esgar Handyman Services in one word it would be PROFESSIONALISM. I've worked with a handful of handymen since owning my home in 2015 and Esgar is the one I will continue to use and recommend. Esgar is always ON TIME. From consultation till the last day or work, he showed up to work as scheduled. When painting my interior he was very considerate and wore a mask in 85 degree heat. I even offered to play music while his team worked and out of respect to the neighboring units in my complex, they declined. Also, Edgar was very mindful of our complex security. He made sure the our complex gate was always closed behind him. His work is neat and clean. He carefully prepped and covered all areas and made sure all furniture was protected. At the end of each work day, he made sure to leave the work space clean, swept, and organized. The project was completed ON TIME and left my home sparkling. I know most of what I'm mentioning seems like common sense but, unfortunately I've had my share of working with contractors and handymen that fail to practice at such a high level of quality, respect, thoughtfulness and professionalism that Esgar and his team does. I could be a stingy A-Hole and not share this handyman treasure but, I want to see this hardworking family man succeed. So please support this business, you won't regret it. read more

From start to finish, working with Esgar was a pleasure. He was professional and polite. Prompt with providing a quote after meeting us onsite. He took the time to understand what we were looking for with a paint (several areas inside) and tile job in kitchen. He completed the painting quickly and left without a trace, taking care to clean up each day. We have to have him come back to do the tile as COVID supplies were impacted. We look forward to working with him again as soon as the tile is here. He also will complete a drywall patch for us at that time. Will update then! read more

Esgar was professional, polite, and friendly! He did a wonderful job fixing my pool tiles on my 14-year-old pool. He was able to make a substitute decorative tile square for me because I ran out of original design tiles for the repair job. His craftsmanship skills are clean and detail-oriented. He took his time getting the job done right and did not rush at any point. I'm so happy with the services he provided us and will definitely hire him back for future project jobs. I would highly recommend supporting his business! read more

I work for a management company and Esgar has helped me with a few of my HOA properties. My clients within the HOAs especially love how friendly and kind mannered he is... which is so important, because they can sometimes be very difficult people; but he also just does a very nice job. I personally also use Esgar in my own home, sometimes, and he helped me to pull off a color-block/tow-tone look which I have been wanting to do for a while. His clean paint job looks magnificent. It looks better than I envisioned and better than I could have ever done. He also helped to install this fan and did a sensational job covering up the holes where they installed electrical wires. Looks so slick you would never know they cut a dozen little holes in the ceiling and walls. I would recommend him one thousand times over. read more

Add to the pile of unreliable experiences with Esgar. He canceled on a Friday and claimed he'd be available at 8 AM on Monday morning. Monday comes around and he's suddenly committed to another project and asks to drop by my job. Told him no thanks. Choose another handyman. read more

Read the other low review. YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH COSTLY MATERIALS AND NO SHOW. Seems like he has a pattern of not showing up. Cancelled on me twice and not even a few days notice. Very hard to reach. Unreliable, will cost you time, money and stress. Will have to find another painter and rearrange my schedule again to accommodate his lack of professionalism. STOP TAKING COMMITMENTS IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE LOAD! read more

Esgar was very responsive to me. I needed a curtain rod hung in one of my bedrooms. He came out the very next day and charged me a very reasonable price. He was very communicative and texted me when he was on his way. Excellent service!! I highly recommend him. read more

Avoid at all costs, poor communication/unreliable. Contacted via Yelp and he provided estimate (minor floor repair) on 7/21, so I scheduled him to come on 7/29, he no-showed/no response to texts. He responded on 8/1 apologizing and asking to re-schedule for 8/6; he confirmed the day before but again no-showed to the job. So, I wasted two mornings waiting around for him. I sent him a number of texts since 8/6 asking for an update but no response. Totally unprofessional. read more

We had issues with Home Depot installation services and Esgar came to solve it all for us! Pretty good price and a clean work.

I had a great experience with Esgar. We had an interesting project to seal up a small pet door that the previous owners had installed but was creating a draft. He was professional, communicative, and clear from start to finish. He responded to my request for quote very quickly and came by to thoroughly assess what could be done and how best to approach the project. He arrived on time for the project, worked efficiently, and left the work area completely clean and tidy. His pricing was fair and transparent. The door looks great and we would happily work with Esgar on future projects. read more

Obtaining a quote and scheduling the service was a very smooth process. Esgar and his brother were very professional and punctual to the scheduled time. Don't use this guy. He made an appointment and then stood me up. Then he didn't return my calls.

I have an older home in Mira Mesa and needed someone to come out quickly and repair my kitchen cabinets that were pulling away from the wall. I found Esgar on Yelp, messaged him and got a response within minutes! He scheduled a time to swing by so he could take a look at my kitchen cabinets and we also talked about replacing my garage entry door, and adding some medicine cabinets to both my bathrooms. That night I got his quote and the following week he was back at our house doing the repairs. Esgar is great - he is so responsive, prompt, professional and honest - he even got along with my dogs as well =) We already have Esgar scheduled for another project in two weeks - this time he'll be tearing down our old rotting pergola in our backyard and adding a backsplash and range hood in our kitchen (pics to follow!) And we are already in talks for his third project with us as well. I'm so glad we have found a reliable handyman to help us out with the various never-ending jobs for our older home! read more

I own a 3bdr condo in Pacific Beach that needed some cosmetic fixes between tenants. Esgar was on time (which is important to me juggling my own work schedule). Similar expierence than what a recent person wrote. Everything seemed fine at the beginning - Esgar came out to check on the needed repairs, send us a quote and we agreed on a time and day. First appointment got canceled, then Esgar never showed up for the second appointment we set and haven't heard anything since. Not sure how you can stay in business with that work attitude. read more
