My cat enjoying a super cute blanket

I was very happy with my experience at this hospital. My cat had a swollen eye, so we brought him in to get it checked out. The receptionist, nurse, and doctor were all absolutely wonderful. They were friendly, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. There was a wait due to an emergency, which they apologized for, but considering the circumstances I believe they got us taken care of in a pretty timely manner. They were upfront about prices, which were very reasonable and affordable. I would highly recommend Escondido Veterinary Emergency to anyone with a pet in need of immediate care.

    Allergic reaction to bees

Brought my dog here when she got stung by a bee and started having an allergic reaction. This place saw us pretty quickly and was affordable for an emergency vet. The staff were all women and vet nice. I have a huge dog with some reactivity and handling restraint sensitivity and when I let the staff know this, they said that was helpful and she did great with them. Hopefully I will never have to come back, but if I do, it'll be here first.

Willie as a pup. He lived 7.5 years and had more love in one paw than most humans.

Our little boy Willie, a King Charles Cavalier, passed in our arms at home from Cardiac failure. We took his remains to Escondido Veterinary Emergency to have him cremated. The staff were so awesome to us in our grief. We picked up Wiliie's cremains yesterday. Staff again were awesome. I hope you never go through the devastation of losing a bloved pet but no there are still a feww businesses like this one that are locally owned, not some nameless corporation. Many thanks for your caring and professionalism.

Escondido Veterinary Emergency made a sad experience the best possible experience. I called because it was time to make that awful decision for my 16-year-old cat, her quality of life was not good, and I am sure I waited longer than I should have. I called Escondido Veterinary Emergency and spoke to the nicest lady on the phone who answered all my questions, didn't make me feel rushed, or bad about my questions I decided to wait another night and then I took her in after work and when I walked in the lady I talked to on the phone asked if she talked to me yesterday and I said yes. Her name was Brittany from the moment I walked in Brittany was so warm and sweet, said all the right things in my moments of sadness and took such good care and my and Lacey. When I tell you that she went above and beyond... she went above and beyond. She told me I was making the right decision, offered kind words and ice cream to Lacey. Brittany made such an unpleasant experience as pleasant as possible. Once we were done Cara came in and went over everything with me, I just can't tell you how impressed I am with both Brittany and Cara and their kindness. I wish anyone who must make this decision the best possible experience like this one I had. Thank you so much Brittany, Cara and Escondido Veterinary Emergency for being so kind.

Dr.Webber is a true hero! Saved Mona's life after 3 days in critical care. We are forever grateful.

Animal Urgent Care Escondido, the true heroes! Our sweet girl Mona gets to come home with us after 3 days in critical care... We brought our 7-year-old dog Mona in during what we thought were her final days due to a sudden emergency that turned into a traumatic event. She was in very critical condition and was oxygen chamber dependent and could not breathe on her own... We were extremely speechless and just heartbroken. A mix of miracles, and Dr. Webber, Dr. Greenfield, Dr. DiLorenzo, and the entire Animal Urgent Care staff, saved Mona's life! After 3 long restless days, Mona is now home with us and slowly healing. From the moment we walked in, we felt seen, supported, and respected. We chose this place given the positive Yelp reviews, we needed a hospital that's 24/7, and also equipped with the necessary equipment for life saving measures. The team was not only highly experienced, but incredibly gentle, kind, and compassionate -- treating Mona like one of their own! We weren't just a number. They always kept us updated, they were on top of EVERYTHING! Their communication, patience, and round-the-clock care gave us peace during the scariest 3 days of our lives, and we just knew from the heart, we were in great hands. We thanked each one of them everyday for what they do. They saved her life, and we will never trust anyone else to care for our pets accidents or illness honestly. They are the reason we get more time with our sweet girl, and for that, we are forever grateful. Thank you, Animal Urgent Care -- you are honestly the absolute best

Saved my kitty's life! My cat Chimbo ate string and needed surgery to remove. Dr. Weber and staff were amazing and saved my kitty's life. Now my kitty is back home playing with his brother, and doing better than ever! I am forever grateful. Thank you

Dr. Adamson was amazing with our dog Bailey. We needed to bring her in so she could be monitored overnight as our vet closes at 6 PM. I can't think Melissa C enough for her kindness and compassion! I highly recommend Animal urgent care in Escondido!!!

Most recently, we had euthanize an older member of our fur family and it was incredibly painful. Mozart was 15 years old and in kidney failure. The VSH team had a private room for all us to say our goodbyes and showed so much compassion during this difficult time. I have also been here for emergency care as well. Each time, consistent with their high level of care and communication throughout your pet's treatment. As a family with multiple rescue pets, I can absolutely recommend this practice to anyone looking for the very best care for their fur babies.

No improvement after about 10 days so I took her to her normal vet who diagnosed IVDD (not uncommon in long, low dog breeds). Unfortunately she was already showing signs of neurological distress in her hind legs. Local vet referred us to VSH. Pros of VSH: They did actually seem to care about the condition and welfare of our pet. They were able to see us same day and we drove 45min to get seen asap We didn't wait to be seen once we arrived. They had already reviewed the chart from our vet and were ready to examine and treat. Cons: The cost was out of this world. I understand that surgery, whether animal or human, is not cheap. But we were quoted $12,500-$15,000 with an additional $5,000 in post op care and follow up. I honestly don't know how some people could possibly afford to cover that cost. The decision to treat or manage pain and eventually euthanize would be unbearable. How do you explain to your kids that the animal CAN be saved but it would put most lower/middle class families in a potentially crippling financial position. Must be heart wrenching. I don't believe services should be rendered without payment. After all, these are specialists who studied and trained for years to do what they do. But, to think that some animals and families may be devastated by these prices breaks my heart.

genuinely cannot say enough good things about Dr. Campbell and the entire team at VEG…read more Our dog, Remi, ended up needing emergency abdominal surgery for an intestinal obstruction, and it was an incredibly stressful and emotional experience. From the moment we arrived until we left, the care we received was exceptional. Dr. Campbell was incredible. I had a lot of questions and concerns, and not once did she make me feel rushed, dismissed, or like I was being difficult. She would sit down with me, explain what she was seeing, what our options were, and why she was recommending what she was recommending. She was patient, thorough, articulate, and confident without ever being condescending. I was having an extremely difficult time with the decision to put Remi through surgery, and she gave me the information I needed without ever pressuring me. I remember telling my wife that if Remi had to have surgery, I was incredibly grateful Dr. Campbell was the one taking care of her. The surgery went extremely well. Dr. Campbell found and removed the obstruction, and thankfully Remi's intestines were healthy. Afterward, she took the time to explain what she found, how Remi did, what to expect during recovery, and even discussed an unrelated finding so we could monitor it in the future. There are people who are technically excellent at what they do, and there are people who are excellent at taking care of the human being on the other side of the exam table. Dr. Campbell is both. Benji was also incredible. His focus was on making sure I was okay during an extremely difficult night. He checked on me constantly, went out of his way to ask if there was anything he could do, and always seemed to show up at the right time with a positive attitude and some reassurance. His kindness was genuine, and those small gestures made a much bigger difference than he probably realizes. Theresa took amazing care of Remi after surgery. She was incredibly patient, kind, and sweet with her. It was obvious that Remi was with someone who genuinely cared about her comfort and recovery. Theresa patiently answered all of our questions, kept us informed, and gave us a lot of peace of mind. Natalie was fantastic as well. She carefully went through the estimates with me and made sure everything was clearly explained. While I was away, she even took photos of Remi and sent them to me so I could see that she was doing okay. At the end, Natalie found a roughly $200 credit that was owed back to us and made sure it was refunded. After such a significant and unexpected veterinary bill, that level of transparency gave me a lot of confidence that Remi's care was truly the priority, not simply maximizing the bill. I also want to recognize everyone whose names I unfortunately didn't get. Especially in the beginning, I was so worried about Remi that remembering names was about the last thing on my mind. The surgical team was amazing. They kept me informed every step of the way, explained what was happening, what was normal, what to expect, and how Remi was doing. After Remi came out of surgery, they did everything they could to reassure me and make me feel better--even while immediately preparing for another surgery. Their compassion during what was obviously an incredibly busy night meant a lot. There was also a nurse who cared for Remi after surgery whose name I unfortunately didn't get. She was incredible. I had a lot of questions, and she patiently answered every one of them. She made sure Remi was constantly checked on and did everything she could to keep her comfortable while she recovered. I wish I had gotten everyone's names because there are more people who deserve to be recognized individually. Every person we encountered, from start to finish, treated Remi and our family with kindness and compassion. This was one of the hardest experiences I've had with Remi, but I never once felt like we were going through it alone. I trusted this team with a member of my family, and I would do so again without hesitation. Thank you to Dr. Campbell and everyone at VEG for taking such incredible care of our girl--and for taking care of us along the way.

She addressed his abscess, which had burst, causing blood and pus to flow down his chest area. The staff were professional, friendly and kind. (I brought along Skyler's sister Scarlet who is a 2 year old dachshund mix.) They generously offered water and snacks to parents in addition to a blanket for Scarlet after noticing she was cold. In total, the visit took 3 hours, since Sky needed to be sedated. We returned 3 days after to remove his drain, which was done gently and at no extra charge. There was no problem submitting invoices to pet insurance, and the reimbursement was even expedited, since the insurance company found zero issues with the paperwork. Thank you

We drove there at 1am in the rain and had high hopes she would pull through, but the X-ray showed a terminal issue and the outcome was inevitable. We appreciate the compassion and professionalism of the staff, especially so late at night. Would highly recommend. My only complaints: 1) No airflow in the two rooms off to the side. Not so bad if you're only in there for 15 min but after an hour, you have to open the door just to breathe. 2) The TV in the lobby is too loud. The people working the counter can hear YOU through the glass partition, but are not aware that your ears are competing with the TV just to hear what they're saying back at you. Another customer came in just after us with a dog whose eye had popped out of the socket. :-( They also had difficulty hearing anything from the counter staff thanks to that TV. Maybe a nice, quiet video loop of relaxing/calming scenery, flowing water, etc.? I can't hear over David Attenborough's voice and that's saying a lot since he's a fairly soft-spoken guy.

When the staff spoke with us, his response was dismissive and showed no compassion. He even asked if bloody diarrhea was our only concern, despite us clearly explaining how serious her symptoms were. When I described Peanut's symptoms to the front desk staff, she immediately tried to assume it was a seizure, even though that was never part of her symptoms. After 45 minutes of waiting, the staff told us the doctor was ready and asked us to hand over Peanut. We were confused as to why we couldn't be present for the initial exam, but we complied. Another 30 minutes passed, and when we asked for an update, we were told the doctor was with another patient and Peanut was "next." Then Peanut vomited blood again, so she was taken back immediately and again we were told she was next. We waited another hour, and by this time it was 12:30 AM with still no care provided. At that point, we were frustrated and concerned for her safety, so we decided to leave and find another urgent care. We found WAG Animal ER, only 8 minutes away, with the same $100 exam fee and no wait. The difference was night and day. The staff there was kind, compassionate, and professional. Peanut was seen by a doctor within 5 minutes. And the Dr even called us 3 days later to check on her status.
