Front desk staff needs training and development in customer service and basic skills related to her job. I'd strongly suggest putting her in the back of the office but the animals don't deserve that ether. I would find it best to look into another vet before coming here to avoid dealing with an unpleasant front desk worker who clearly has no respect for others. We were first-time patients and had our dog neutered, microchipped, and tummy surgically fixed to prevent bloat (gastropexy). They took such great care of Seamus. They were the kindest and nicest people when I called to make the appointment. They took our baby in for the whole day, and gave us clear post-surgery instructions, and he is back to his normal, playful self in just a couple of days! I was very disappointed in the customer service of this facility. My normal vet was out sick and needed to get our new puppy vaccinated. Those visits went fine, except for the one younger lady that sits at the front - not personable at all, almost to the point that we were bothering her by being there. I called one evening at a 4:45pm because our puppy was crying and we didn't know why and I was a bit frazzled. When I asked if the doctor was in, she replied with "Um, no!" I asked why are you open if the doctor isn't in, she replied with, "Um, we have people that pick up food!" This was all with a nasty tone, like I was bothering her. She could tell I was super upset and panicked and she couldn't even bother to say I am so sorry he is out but it is an emergency, please take your puppy to X, Y, or Z. Instead, she left me with a very nasty taste in my mouth. The doctor is fine, but the customer service has driven me away. read more

Fabulous service from the front desk to their epic vet, Tim Sherman. Our 17 year old cat, was lethargic and not eating for a few days. We noticed white thick liquid, coming out the side of him. Concerned, we called El Norte vet . They squeezed us in the next day, even though they were booked for the next 5 days. Dr. Sherman called and gave me the scoop that morning. He was kind and professional at the same time. Our cat received excellent care from a cat bite, that was infected. Thanks El Norte , we have changed vets after 17 years!! We have been going to this vet Dr. Sherman for a while now. We love him as a vet. Very nice. As for the ladies at front desk. Probably the rudest women ever. No compassion. Ask a question they bite your head off. Give rude answers. Ignore people. If you care about your pets or your money, this is not the place for you. Take the other reviews seriously. My dog had dental extractions in May. After a few weeks, my daughter and I noticed that her gums were significantly receding. I was seeing a small hole appear that lead to her sinus cavity. When I called the office about scheduling a follow-up, they informed me I could be seen in 6 weeks!! I told them I believed she was having a complication due to a surgery performed at their offices and I'd like to be seen sooner. Nope. Not only was the front office unsympathetic, but they were also flat our rude. So, I decided to take my dog down there in person, in hopes the doctor or nurse could take a look. The front office staff was immediately combative and defensive. The front office told me my dog's issue "was unlikely related to the surgery". I was so caught off-guard by the lack of care or professionalism. My dog is currently undergoing corrective surgery for what's called an oronasal fistula. This is where the sinus cavity is exposed due to gums receding after surgery. This is costing me another $600, on top of the other $600 I gave El Norte Vet clinic. It's really unfortunate that people like this are able to take your time, money, and trust. Especially when they have your beloved pet in their care. ZERO STARS. The doctor is great - there is nothing else good about this office. Our dog of 17 years is facing his last few days of life and I wanted to be sure that we had no other options - just to be absolutely sure - before we make the decision to help him pass. It's very painful and hard to even accept, but I called the offices to ask for just a few minutes with the doctor for one last consult before we finalized our decision. The person who took my call said that they couldn't get us in for another week. When I asked if there were any option - as this was the vet who has been there for years for us - she actually said, "what do you want me to do...cancel everyone else today just for you?" I burst into tears and am writing this now because I honestly don't know how else to let the doctor know or how to reach him. And because I just can't imagine anyone else experiencing this kind of unnecessarily cruel treatment when they are in a traumatic situation. Please do not take your pet to this office. We came here because the other vet we originally used "VCA Acacia Animal Hospital" was way too expensive and very pushy with up-sells and so-called recommended tests. The experience at El Norte Veterinary Clinic was casual and the new resident Vet - Timothy Sherman was friendly and knowledgeable. If you have a pet and need a down home Vet than I would recommend coming here. I have never been happy with the front office customer service at this place. Curt, rude and somewhat unpleasant. But my wife has been taking our dog here for 4-5 years now, no more, ever. I'm not going into every detail, but they left us hanging when our dog had an abscess tooth. They also appeared to not care, this may not be the Vet personally, and yet, you must go through the office to get anything done. They cannot give an inch when you have an emergency which most Dr.s and Vets make arrangements for these situations. I don't dispute the level of care, although they've done some things in the past without calling and charged us for. More than anything, when your fur baby is hurting you would like some care and compassion. They're fresh out of that I'm afraid. read more

I have been thrilled with the care we have received from this Vet Clinic. Dr Sherman is very even keeled, knowledgeable and communicative. The prices seem reasonable to me for this field of practice, even low. I have had many interactions and many phone conversations with the front staff as well. They are informative and to the point. I don't need a bunch of sunshine blown up my ass when I Interact with these folks but apparently many of these reviewers do. Also, this is a very small practice and not an emergency clinic. Don't expect them to be widely available all the time, or ever. If you want that then pick a huge clinic where you never get to see the same vet and see how that turns out. It turns out he wasn't here when I went and the prices were not affordable as I have been to other vets with much lower prices. I don't know how much Dr. Sherman is better than Dr. Craig Frobom but this visit left a negative impression on the clinic as a whole. Exam fee: $49.50, coupon available on their website for $10 off 1st exam. Cerenia injection $49 Baytril injection $49 Metronidazole $1.70 each Diagel $23.22 Dr. Craig Frobom was the most unprofessional vet I've ever met. He did not wear a uniform of any kind, he reeked of cigarettes, had poor listening skills and bedside manners. He made a lot of unnecessary comments and asked what we did for a living (probably to determine how much to charge us?) We asked if my dog looked like he had hip dysplasia. He retorted that he doesn't have x-ray vision. Such poor choice of words for a doctor, since he could have worded it in a much more professional manner. The visit was very rushed and he had the nerve to repeatedly say that he hopes that he was helpful. Unfortunately, it turns out that he was not. read more

I have been going to ElNorte vet clinic for at least 40 years. I knew all the doctors that have been there over the years. All of them were great and took wonderful care of our many animals. Dr. Sherman, is our favorite out of all of them. He has saved and cared for all of our animals. I know we are in good hands. I love his staff too. This clinic is an absolute nightmare and treat me and my dog as a hassle. My dog is epileptic and every try I try to refill his medication, it's the a fight every time. I explained to them I have been having trouble refilling his medication through his pharmacy and the front desk person told me " I just don't know if I can get to that today". I then pleaded and told them I've been working on this for days and getting the run around. I told them my dog has had 3 seizures in the past 24hrs and she had 0 sympathy and just responded with "I'll try and get that done". If you want a vet who loves your animals as you do, this is not the place. read more

We have been taking our dogs here since Dr. Sargent and generally have had good experiences. But he's my frustration, if anything, and I mean anything, is wrong with your dog, they want you to go to urgent care. The last straw is my aging maltipoo who they diagnosed with kidney disease. Now she won't eat and we are worried she is declining. Will they see her, nope go to urgent care they say! They don't have an appointment for a week! This is the same dog whose hip wad dislocated and set at urgent care and who told us to follow up with her regular vet. They refused. We're had to go back to urgent care. As a professional dog trainer who works with shy, fearful, and aggressive dogs, finding a veterinarian who understands and will accommodate special needs dogs is imperative. Dr. Sherman and his staff are always kind and understanding. They go slow with the shy dogs and are always happy to help us with the dogs that need more work. One of my favorite things about Dr. Sherman is that he actually sits on the ground with the dogs. Being a tall man he can be a bit intimidating to a shy dog but he always ends up winning them over. I've always talked highly about this vet because we've been coming here for 10 yrs. However, the last couple of appointments, I feel have been less that friendly. More so, our appointment today was terrible. NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN. If you truly care about your pet, don't come here. We've been so worried about one of our cats for the past few days, my sister specifically has been so stressed out. We were really looking forward to the appointment today to get our cat treated. After walking in the door and talking to one of the front desk assistants, she rudely rushed us into the back room and told us that we were late because our appointment was at 11:00. We thought our appointment was at 11:45. We told them this and apologized but it didn't matter, it felt like they were trying to rush us out. Also 11:45 is an ODD TIME, so how would we misunderstand the time. I feel like they quoted us the wrong time. Even if it's our misunderstanding, why treat us so rudely about it. They kept telling us that they were about to close up so it would be a quick appointment. Same thing with the vet. I met him years ago and loved him because he was so friendly. This time, he just told us that because he was on his way out, he wouldn't be able to do much today, and that we should take the cat to the Emergency clinic (also crazy expensive). I'm upset because I know we were quote the wrong time, how would we make up a 11:45 time. And because of this, they had to treat us rudely and not treat our beloved cat. Even more frustrating, although they said they were on their way out, they had more people waiting in the waiting room. I hope they would show more compassion. My sister was crying at the end of the appointment. It has been so frustrating because we used to love this place. The assistant, older woman with blonde/light brown hair was just rude. The other young one with dark hair, was a little more compassionate, and I thank her for listening to our concerns and putting up with my complaint at the end of the visit. I have never been unhappy with Dr. Sergent's ability to provide care to my pets. What I have been unhappy about is the lack of people skills that I have experienced at this clinic. It seems like the passion for pets is lacking at times. It's like the staff is just going through the motions and not really enjoying the whole pet experience. People like me do question things and look for guidance.I don't pretend to be a Dr. but I have had concerns that have not been met in a professional and mature manner. I have opted to switch vets. I was pleased that this clinic was prompt in forwarding our records. I will not pay to take my pets to a place that has lost the ability to understand that sometimes pets get scared and pee on the floor. So I decided to try a new place, and this was it and it's awesome! Dr. Mike Sergent is very sweet and understanding. He's also thorough and caring. His receptionist and assistant is very nice also. The regulars doctors at this clinic are generally very good, but I do not recommend going their when they are not available, especially during the Covid-19 mandate. Currently, Dr. Craig Srobom has been covering for the regular veterinarian there, and he will not wear a mask and he will physically touch you. The odd thing is that he asked me if he should wear a mask, and I replied, "yes, please," but he ignored my request even though he was the one who brought it up. He also had me hold my dog while he examined her. I think I was in a bit of shock because I haven't had any issues with folks following the mandates. The regular veterinarian always wore a mask and practiced social distancing. The receptionist actually quietly asked him to put his mask on as he walked out the door, and his response was, "whatever." She also minimized the threat he poses by implying that others have complained too, so I'm not alone. Just because he's ok risking his life doesn't mean I'm want to risk mine or my family's. If there have been numerous complaints about him, I don't understand why he's still allowed to practice in such a careless manner? Very disappointing and unfortunate. read more
