First off, I just want to say that this veterinary office is the only place I trust with my dogs…read more I've been coming here for over 5 years, and Dr. Choi has seen my previous family dog, Odie, who has passed away already. I still bring my fur baby here for his care whenever he needs his updated vaccines or a check up. Kayo is not very nice to many strangers, but his staff & Dr. Choi really know how to make him feel comfortable! From cutting his nails to getting his vaccines, he does not seem to flinch or cower compared to other places. I love how friendly the staff are and how great they are around dogs, you can really tell they care for your pets. Recently, Kayo (miniature dachshund) had an incident where he injured his spine and he was suffering from hind leg paralysis. We waited a full night before deciding to bring him but we were really close to bringing him into a rehabilitation center in Escondido. I'm really glad we didn't & decided to get a check-up first at Nordahl Pet Veterinary Animal Hospital after I gave a phone call to make an appointment with Dr. Choi. The staff was seriously so accommodating and knew that this was an emergency, so she squeezed me in as a walk-in appt even though they were fully booked that day. She told me the time I should come and how long we could possibly be waiting. Luckily for us, we were taken back right away and Dr. Choi came in quickly. After the check-up, he made the best possible treatment plan for him without needing to do surgery. He was prescribed two medications - one for pain & one for anti-inflammatory. After about 2-3 days, Kayo was already recovering so quickly with lots of rest and care. After about a week, Dr. Choi used the text portal system to text me Kayo's x-ray results and an updated treatment plan. All of this, without having to pay for another visit was really a relief for my husband and I. We were worried he was going to need surgery or water therapy, but all he needed were the medications and 2 more weeks of rest. Presently, Kayo is about 95% better and is finally walking again! Thank you so much to Dr. Choi & his staff for taking great care of our fur baby. Highly recommend to anyone who really wants to visit a vet with really affordable prices and who actually cares about your pets!

After years of being bent over by our local Vet, we finally made the decision to seek out a new Doctor for our pups...(should have done it years ago...) I read the great reviews of El Norte Vet Clinic and even though it was a little drive, we decided to give it a try.... Making an appointment was easy, the staff were friendly and helpful We had high expectations of Dr Sherman and he definitely didn't disappoint... He greeted us, then actually sat on the floor and hung out with our pups to put them at ease while he examined them... You can tell he actually loves animals, it's not all about the mighty dollar like it is with most Vets, including our former Vet..... We had exams, vaccines, and some RX for way below the prices we were used to paying.... If you're thinking about changing Vets, visit El Norte Vet Clinic, you won't be disappointed.....Your only regret will be you didn't switch to Dr Sherman way before... Highly, Highly Recommend! About 10 days ago my 16-year-old rescue Yorkie was failing quickly. I'll spare you the details. I was treated kindly and respectfully at a time where I was truly heartbroken. The next day I brought her in and held her to the very end. I miss her a lot, and the other dogs mourned her. But what happened before all of that was what I want you to know. The vet-tech came in with a little silver platter. On it with a tongue, depressor coated in cheese-wiz and three Hershey's kisses. She had not eaten in three days, however, she lifted her little head and enjoyed her final treats. Chocolate, you say? Something I would've never given her, however, I figured this was her Thelma and Louise moment. That act of kindness and a little bit of a chuckle still warms my heart.

I wasn't looking forward to this visit because the last time we were here, we got bad news about our pup that passed away in 2017 :( The facility has expanded quite a bit since our visit here 8 years ago. It seems to be a very efficient operation. They have comfy seating and a coffee, drink, snack counter. After an EKG was done, our pet cardiologist explained in great detail what she saw going on with our Riley dog. Turns out he's ok. The vet says it's part of his aging process and we should keep monitoring it with annual check ups--and I suppose annual EKG's that are kinda of pricey, but worth it to make sure Riley dog is ok. Whew! It's comforting to know vet care like this exists.

The first thing I asked was whether we could try a hydrolyzed diet and/or different type of food because I knew it was tied to food. The vet said no and instead recommend a ton of tests and procedures, even one for Addison's which is rare. After her fluoroscopy and over $10,000 later, they said the solution was upright feedings even though she didn't have ME. I felt hopeless and sad we had not figured it out since she kept getting sick. I told the vet and she kept reiterating upright feedings which was not the solution and wholly unnecessary! Finally, I went to VCA and the vet suggested hydrolyzed protein, what I told the other vet. My dog is now finally doing better now thanks to this place. Don't take your dog here.

I took my dog in for a yeast infection in her ear. She had this a year ago and the vet cleaned it out really well and put some medicine in and sent us on our way. It was quick and efficient and super reasonable. Today we came in for the same issue s year later and they told me the vet that day doesn't examine the animals in the room with you. Ok. They took her back. After AN HOUR my son had to go to the bathroom. We were lead down a dark dingy hallway to a bathroom and we saw our dog in the back. When we were walking back my son tried to pet a dog that appeared to be owned by an employee (sitting in front of a desk) and the dog tried to bite him and aggressively started barking. After an hour and half I said we needed to leave. The doctor tried to get me to agree to 4 different oral meds in addition to drops. It felt like she was trying to scare or shame me into doing all of this treatment and her explanations for what was going on and what could have caused it were insulting to anyone with intelligence. Since the ownership has changed I was looking forward to a new vet. The last two times I have gone (in the last 3 months) the tone has changed drastically and both times I came in for something pretty minor but felt very pressured to agree to thousands of dollars of tests and treatments that were not necessary. Some people do like to get all the things possible but those people take their dogs to nice vet offices where they expect to pay a lot- not dingy old offices that haven't been updated in 30 years- maybe they're trying to raise funds for a remodel now! I will mention we tend to be on the conservative side for treatment options (with our dogs and humans!) We would like to start less aggressive and then increase as needed. We will now have to find a vet that fits in with that philosophy

After seeing Dr. Kinley, she finally had relief. Two days before I had taken her to another vet and they were not as thorough as she was nor as caring. I had read reviews on Discovery valley that seemed like people were pretty pleased with their services, so I thought I'd give it a shot, and I have to say I totally agree. I didn't feel like they were pressuring me for unnecessary test or procedures that weren't needed. I also didn't get the feeling they were in it for the money as well, but more for the care and the wellness of the animals well-being. I also observed the animals coming out of hospital all seem to be wagging tails and content. We have three other dogs and I believe they will feel very comfortable coming here as well and will get great results. Everyone in office was very kind as well. hoping to get to meet everyone in office on next visit. My partner and I recently adopted a dog and went for his first check up. The office was busy with a lot of dogs..one was very aggressive. We were brought into a room by an overworked and overstressed employee and sat there for a while waiting for Dr. Young. The exam was fine. No concerns there. A few weeks later, I called the office to ask a question. They called me back the next day. Totally acceptable turn around time, but prior to them expanding, they would've called back the same day. I recently called the office to ask another question- regarding a medication and increasing the dose. They never returned my call. It's hard for me to recommend this office. I miss the personal touch of a small office where the staff is calm, they know all the animals and their parents, and return phone calls.
