A great little ropes course for having fun in Luray…read more There's a moment when climbing when I realized "wait, I didn't have to sign a waiver for this. Either they're reckless, or so confident in their course that I must be safe." Needless to say, I felt safe on the course. I weigh over 200 lbs. and the harness held me when I hung on without putting my feet on the ground. Also, the tracks are designed that the only openings for you to come off is at the entrance and exit. There's a great little training course just a couple feet off the ground. A good place to start with children and understand how to move the harness around when encountering other climbers so you can pass the other without getting harnesses tangled. There are various challenges throughout the course that range from easy to moderately challenging. These include static beams, to tightrope walking, or to swaying bridges or ropes. I wouldn't say anything is too hard. I think the Level 1 challenges were a little more manageable than the ones higher up on Level 2. The only one that genuinely scared me was a Level 2 spot to walk out on a beam, out over everything else (spoiler, the beam rocks up and down). The whole course crisscrosses so you can skip one challenge and still get to another one past it, and there are two staircases for moving between Levels 1 and 2. Fair to say, this is not for people with a fear of heights. Child #2 preferred the lower level, though he tried a few higher up. Child #1 is fearless and did most challenges 2 or more times. It was windy that day, so it was a little more daunting at times. One guy passed us on the way down from Level 2, clearly a little nervous. No judgment here. Know your limits! If it's not too crowded, you could do the whole course in 25 to 30 minutes, but we spent about an hour up there and had loads of fun. Would absolutely go again.

During my visit, I witnessed the course operator make a female guest cry. Her child (maybe 5 yrs…read moreold) was new to the country and didn't speak English very well. He came to the exit and the operator disconnected him before his parent could explain that he couldn't get back on. When the mother asked for an exception due to the language barrier, she was told that if he's going to be in America then he need to speak English. He then left his post to confront another guest who was nearby that told him his behavior was very rude. She told him to get out of her face and to walk away and he refused. Meanwhile, there are multiple people waiting to exit the course because he was too preoccupied trying to intimidate a woman. I've never seen an employee represent a tourist attraction so poorly. My family and I won't be coming back nor will I encourage any of my friends to go. But if you're looking for something new with a side of sexism and racism, have at it.

This became the highlight of our trip. The staff made everyone feel safe with their great instruction, professionalism, and patience with us first-timers. We soared over the tree tops, screaming, cheering and laughing all the way through. The views were incredible, and the course was well maintained. We all loved it. It was the perfect mix of adrenaline and family bonding. I would love to give this 100 stars and highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area, or even to make the trek just to come here, you will not be disappointed.

The views were amazing, and the personal attention really set this apart. My husband and I came to Luray for a quiet weekend away. Katie and Jacob were our treetop guides. To say they were the best would be an understatement. Both of them were well versed in zip lining and made the experience so much fun. It was hard to be uncomfortable for long with them at the helm. Almost polar opposites - Katie was a burst of energy with an infection personality and Jacob was laid back, calming presence with an unexpected jokes that would catch you off guard. The pair made the zip lining experience that much more memorable. Highly recommended if you want a little thrill in the Luray area. If you are going in the summer, I would definitely take the earlier time slots - it gets hot up there.

It was finally warm enough to do an outdoors activity so I booked us tickets to go over the Easter weekend. I reccomend booking in advance as they do get booked up quickly. Also make sure to sign the waivers beforehand; so you don't have to do it at check in. I must say the staff this time around was truly commendable. They were great at instructing us the how tos and safety measures. They were considerate and patient dealing with my young nephews which I noticed and appreciated a lot. We did the tree top journey course as my nephews are still young and aren't quite tall enough for the other/ more advanced loop. This one was perfect for them. Some parts were challenging and scary but we managed to brave through it and were having the time of our lives! Tips: wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Bring a attachable cord for your phone so you don't run the risk of dropping it LOL. An hour gives you around 2-3 rounds on the loop depending on how fast you go through the courses. So much fun! I am considering purchasing buying the packages to take my nephews throughout the Summer.

I took advantage of Black Friday offers and went on one of the last days they were open for the year. Freezing temperatures, but with good layering, hat, and gloves that wasn't an issue (I had pre-purchased their gloves, but wasn't thinking about temperature and got fingerless ... luckily I had brought a thick pair of my own gloves as a backup). I was by myself for the adventure (my wife stayed on the ground and took pictures - it's okay to bring spectators), but there were some other groups on different courses. The staff was friendly and helpful and made sure to tighten up the harness between each course. I did about half of the total courses - two full courses and one halfway, which had an option to return to the start before some obstacles I wasn't quite ready for mentally. The first two courses I did included a handful of obstacles and ended in a zipline. The obstacles get progressively more challenging as you go along, partially in terms of balance, but mostly in terms of fear factor. For me the toughest to psych up for was a set of free hanging ropes that you walk on. The Tarzan swing also took a minute to mentally prepare. The remaining courses I decided to save for another day after looking at them from the ground - I'd been challenged enough for the day, but definitely plan to go back and build up to those, hopefully with some friends along for support.

We went ziplining during their moonlight 9pm tour and it was a great adventure. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt confident and empowered when transitioning to each zip line or bridge. It even rained during our night tour and they remained professional and kept everyone's spirts up. We also heard a bear roar during our tour which was a bit scary, but also cool at the same time. It did help with the fear that we were several feet off the ground. We were provided with gear, glow lights for our helmets and the hands on training exercises before we embarked were priceless. Everyone wore their masks and it was a nice outing to experience durning COVID-19. Heads up this activity is hosted by a third party on the Salamander resort (which is a beautiful property) but is pretty deep in the woods.

We were on time and got carted to the course but they were expecting three people to join us. As it turns out, those three people thought they had signed up for a different time so my wife and I got to do this with just us and our two guides. Our guides were Tim N. and Gwen. We had done a Zip Line adventure with our kids in Williamsburg but this was completely different than that. After a very brief training and test on how to stop yourself on the zip line, we headed for the course. In total, there were five zip lines on the course and the guides gave us some history and fun facts between each zip line. After going down the first two, I was very confident in my braking and making sure I got to the platform at the end. My wife had some issues braking throughout all five zip lines. Since there were only two of us doing the adventure, the owner said we could go through the course again. Our guides said this does not normally happen. I was excited to go through the course a second time and my wife got way more comfortable braking during this second trip through. Our guides were friendly and very helpful. They had to pull my wife in a couple of times and they were great at walking her through it and were very patient. Based on this experience, we will definitely come back when the kids are old enough to join us.
