I relocated to Venice recently and stopped in on a Saturday at exactly 4:00 pm to buy some product. When I walked through the door the person at the front desk curtly informed me that they were closed and that I couldn't buy anything. The place was completely empty. One when of the stylists tried to step in, the woman cut her off and told her it just wasn't possible. She offered no help, no hours of when they would be open again, no apology. Nothing. Fortunately I have been to Aveda salons before and I know that this isn't the way their other salons do business. I called the Aveda salon out on Venice Island which also closes at 4:00 and asked them if I could possibly come by and grab some product. The woman who answered the phone was really nice and told me to come on by. When I stopped in the place was still really busy, even though it was 4:15. I was greeted by a friendly person at the desk who rung up my product and at my request found me a stylist to talk to about my hair, which I have since seen for a cut, plus a color with another stylist. It is obvious to me why the one place was dead and the other was just humming with business. Had the person up front at Escape just taken the time to give me some customer service, even if she couldn't ring up a sale, I would have gone back there for products and services. I am so disappointed with Escape Salon. I was excited to get my hair done. I brought photos but I didn't get what I wanted. Rather than help correct the problem the salon does not seem to care to keep me as a customer. The owner has not contacted me she to find out why I am not happy with my hair, the only person who has made any contact with me is the secretary (who is very kind, but that shouldn't be her job). Their solution was to have the person who screwed up my hair to redo my hair or I have to pay again. This is the absolute worst customer service, actually this is no customer service which is unfortunate for an industry based on service. If you want quality style choose a different salon. read more

My daughter and I both LOVE Escape Salon. We feel like it is a hidden gem in the Venice/Nokomis Area. Our Stylist Jackie does a beautiful job with Aveda color and highlights. Her haircuts are also top notch! I recently booked with Becca when Jackie was busy. She also did a great job! The added touch of aroma therapy with hand massage is so relaxing. I chose this Aveda salon over other salons because they actually use Aveda color which is mixed in front of you verses L'Oréal color that Is mixed in the back room at some salons. The owner Darlene is always there to greet us with awesome customer service. I have referred several friends to Escape and will continue to do so!!! read more

I am new to Venice and just happened to run into the owner (Darlene) of the salon at the dog park of the community where we both live! I had a bad color experience and I was looking to get it corrected. Darlene gave me the number to the salon, and I called Escape and made an appointment with Bekah. When I arrived, I talked to Bekah about what I wanted and I was immediately confident that she knew what she was doing. Still, since I am EXTREMELY picky, I was nervous. But after she did her magic, I can't tell you how much I love my hair! I arrived with hair dyed too dark (with purple streaks!) and she somehow made it a light brown (exactly what I wanted) with lighter highlights. I will definitely be going back to her to get more copper highlights in my hair. And the blowout she gave me I kept for days (I rarely like how hairdressers fix my hair -- did I say I was picky??). They also carry Aveda products and I bought some lipstick that I love there. It's moisturizing and tastes good! Yay, Escape Salon! I'm so glad I found a place I like in Florida!! read more

If I could give even lower score I would. I was vacationing in Florida - I needed a little touch up on color and a little trim. I went to Escape - I asked to have 1/2" cut off and I asked for a color. When I walked out and trust me my hair is a medium brown, my hair is now DARK DARK Brown! I was just about in tears in what they did to me. But then I went to pay and they charged me $147.00 for a color and trim. I would recommend that NO ONE goes there! read more

When I called for an appointment I specifically asked for an appointment with a master stylist. When I was told there were openings the next day I again asked if it was with a master stylist with experience and was told yes. Apparently their definition of a master stylist is not the same as mine. Stylist asked another stylist to check her work and this woman cut more hair off. Then the owner got involved....and more hair was cut off. Stylist used too much product so washed it out and started over...but had to again get the owner to help as she admitted she was not good at styling short hair. THIS IS NOT A MASTER STYLIST!!!! My hair is far too short and still is NOT even. Very disappointing. read more

My primary reason of course for continuing to go to Escape Salon is the great color and cut that I get each and every time. I love the Aveda product so when I was searching for a salon close to home, I was more then pleased to find this place. When I walk through the door it's like being on a mini vacation. That feeling stays with me throughout my day. For me some other salons are far too noisy with close quarters, where at Escape they may be quite busy, but everyone seems to exhale into the moment. This includes the owner Darlene, and her staff of stylists. Yes, I am bragging this place, but they deserve it. This is what I expect in a salon! read more
