My kiddo has been wanting to learn to bowl, so this was the second place we have tried. They have sooooooooo many balls for younger kids since this is targeted toward military families. There were ample 4, 5, 6, and 7 pound balls. It was soooooooooo easy to find some smaller ones for my kiddos to use. I really appreciated that. You ask at the front desk for them to set the bumpers, but once they set them, they raise and fall each time for the players. So hubs and I could earn our gutter balls fair and square, while the kids got higher than they would have earned without them... Definitely better than places where you either have to have them up or down the whole time. No music was playing although they have one of those jukeboxes where you pay for songs on a phone app, but I rather liked how we weren't screaming over the music and pins falling. We ordered some two cheeseburger combos and a nachos and cheese. I really liked that when you order nachos, they grab you an individual bag of either Tostitos or nacho cheese Doritos, so it is consistent sized every time. The cheese dip is that delicious, iridescent orange cheese at ballparks and convenience stores, but boy does it hit the spot. It is a little pricy for $5.25, but the burger combos are a STEAL. Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions, and the condiment bar has so many options: mustard, ketchup, relish, ranch, hot sauce, honey mustard... it also comes with fries and a fountain drink (with orange soda, fruit punch, root beer, regular soda, Powerade... all the choices my picky kids love!) for $8.25. Cheaper than I pay at fast food chains these days and it was GREAT. Char marks and everything. Yum! You pay by the hour, and for shoe rentals and I do wish that the computer had a timer so you know how far into the hour you are, so you can gauge if you should start a new game or not, if you forgot to look at the time you started after trying to find multiple balls, get appropriately sized shoes and everything it takes to get two kiddos ready to bowl. I was blown away at the music that was playing (not family friendly), for example one of the songs had lyrics that expressed the fact that the girl had killed her ex and she did it so she could be with someone else. Another song expressed the fact that they were demonized and hell was the place they were looking forward to going. To be honest I can't imagine why anyone would think that kind of music is appropriate for a family establishment. Supposed to be a field paint only field, yet you are getting hit by paint brought in from Dicks Sporting Goods, or tournament paint by the local teams who apparently have a pass to circumvent the rules. Which if you shot the field paint you would understand. The field paint has to be the seconds or thirds from a Friday run, golf balls don't have this many dimples on it. Barrel breaks and curve balls galore, all while opposing teams shoot lasers at you, because they are apparently Gods children. If you are a walk on, beware the children of God will be gunning for you with all of their fancy equipment and fresh tournament paint Some of the fields are literally just piles of trash drug out of somebodies yard and arranged in a not so organized fashion to be bunkers. Some of the fields really pose a credible injury risk. The one half decent field they had was torn down. The management and staff, well some of them try. The manager there, he has tried to help, but quite obviously is paralyzed by piss poor ownership with his own agenda. Some of the other staffers try to help as well, while others have quite obviously given up and are there for either perks or the mediocre paycheck I am sure they receive. Don't even think about playing a scenario here. The owner stacks the odds by bringing his "professional" team out and arranging them all on one team to completely sweep the people that are there to have fun. The most fun of the scenarios are when it's over and you leave. The actual owner of this place is really in it to just further is personal agenda. He has no real intentions is furthering the sport or bringing in new faces. Back in the early 2000's when this place was under different ownership it was absolutely a blast to play here. Could never find parking because it was always packed. Now you are generally left waiting for people to show up to play against. I have played fields all over the country and I found this one to be in the top 90%. I would have given the field 5 stars but there was constant issues with the air. If you used 3000, you were set. If you wanted 4500 you were out of luck for much of the time. The manager was fighting an uphill battle with so many players and tried everything he could. He did a great job and I felt he was embarrassed and sorry about the issues. The manager did a great job to keep all of the players happy and the refs were fair and focused on fair play and safety.

So, these are not forts as you may think in the traditional sense. Basically what you see are…read moremounds of earth build up to give troops some fortification. Saying that, I think these forts were very interesting to visit. You have to drive from fort to fort. There are little areas to pull over and read some information about what happened there. About half were built but confederate soldiers and the others built union soldiers. At Fort Harrison which is in the middle there is a house to get information. Unfortunately when we went it was closed. The sign on the door said closed for the season. My nephew was doing a report for school about the war. So he was giving us some information as well as learning something new. There are a few cannons at some forts. There is a bathroom at Fort Harrison. But it was closed when we went. The last fort is on the river. You can do a good amount of walking at 2 of the forts. So bring some comfy shoes.
