Of the options we looked at in Richmond West End, this was the cheapest for our family of four. We booked the "Algernon's Shop of Magical Goods" experience which was rated a difficulty of 6 out of 10 on the last Friday of summer at 4 pm. We got there about 10 minutes before we were supposed to start and we saw an employee waiting outside. She said she brought the wrong set of keys to open the door so our experience would be delayed. Luckily, there was a Publix nearby with a shaded walkway so we could wait in the shade. It was also not a brutal summer day which was nice. The employee apologized several times and offered to extend our experience from 60 minutes to 70 minutes. She had the right keys delivered and we started our experience around 15 minutes late. Upon entering the facility, the vibes were very Raven like Edgar Allen Poe and gave off a vibe that suited Escape Rooms. This was not our first Escape Room experience and it was awesome to get all of our instructions verbally instead of watching a pre-recorded video which was the standard at other Escape Rooms. Once we got into our room to start the experience, we noticed the ambiance felt very much like what an Escape Room should be and it did seem like a magical shop. We worked very well as a team and we solved most of the clues ourselves although we did adhere to the requirement to dance for assistance three times. We escaped in just under 63 minutes. Luckily, we had those 10 extra minutes. It was nice to escape on our own and to do it as a family. Overall, the experience was great and I am certain we will be back to this facility in the future to give another room a try.

It's located in the mall so plenty of parking. The staff helping with set up and intros were nice an made things easy. For this room we started handcuffed so it took a little longer than normal to get set up. No spoilers obviously but these rooms were very intricate. We needed a lot of nudges and some extra help but we luckily got out. Lots of interesting puzzles and locks here. We were very big fans and would love to try the rest of the rooms!

My husband and I did the Dr. Ensaine and the Bank Heist escape rooms. We did Dr. Ensaine first, which is level medium for difficulty. This one we thought was harder, especially since some of the writing on the objects was pretty worn down so it was hard to read it. I also wasn't sure how you were supposed to connect a couple things without a hint or nudge. This was has a creepy undertone to it but nothing pops out or no one comes out at you, which I was waiting for so that also through me off. The location of this escape room is also in the middle of the others so you could hear other people well which was distracting. We were able to finish even though our 60 mins was up and we finished 3 mins over. Princess was our game host for this one. We came back the next day to do the Bank Heist which was rated 2nd hardest escape room they had. My husband and I loved this one a lot more and we actually made it out with 8 min 47 sec left to spare! This one was more up our alley I think with the types of puzzles and def wasn't scary at all. They used all different types of challenges that we hadn't seen before in other escape rooms. We definitely loved the Bank Heist more, but both were good overall! We had a couple different game hosts here. For 2 people it was $37.50 per person, for 3 or more it's $32 per person. Each room is private so you don't have to share with strangers. You get 3 hints per room but unlimited nudges. It was a lot of fun!

Honestly, it ended up being one of the most fun experiences our team has had! The staff was extremely attentive and welcoming! shoutout to Colin and Jake! The facility was clean, the food was good, and the drinks were cold. They also provided videos and pictures from our event, which was a really nice touch and gave us something to look back on and laugh about. I know the price may seem a little steep, especially for larger groups, but honestly, I can say that we had a great time every minute we were there. Our team will definitely be coming back, and personally, I'll be bringing my wife next time so she can check it out too! Thanks again for an awesome experience!

The first time we came it was on time and we loved the Dragon Tower escape room: it was the perfect mix of puzzle and action. This time we showed up 10 minutes early and they said they were running 5-10 minutes behind because of "cleaning issues". Well it turned into 20 minutes late so thankfully we already canceled our dinner reservations. I think it would've been fine if it wasn't $250 for a family of five for 38 minutes and the ninja trials escape room was not as exciting or interesting as dragon tower. Also one of the equipment pieces we were given was faulty so that made it less fun for one of us.

We were immediately impressed with the staff, the fittingly eerie ambience of the lobby & waiting area, the creativity of the stories that set up the experience, and then - most importantly, the quality of the escape room itself. It was so much fun we became instant fans and have been back to many a Red Vein Escape in different family combinations: our whole family, boys day, parents w girls, etc. It is always a positive experience. The faves I've personally done since are Hunt for the Richmond Vampyr and Christmas Krampus. Now for obvious reasons, 2020 presented a challenge to operations, but the staff quickly rose to the occasion; they adapted to state mandates by incorporating face masks into part of their creepy "on brand" presentation. If you're looking for a great date, or a way to make a fun memory with friends or family, you could do worse than Red Vein Escape. YES kid friendly - if your kids are cool like mine ;-)
