They are located on the first Floor of MacArthur mall closest to the S1 parking near Dillard's. It's cash only. $20 per person. The side that has the huge spider and the brain exposed dummy is where you purchase tickets. As you leave you turn to the right and they have a corded off area to the wall where you wait in line. Someone will bring you into the Spooky Acres on the other side. Before doing so, they give you a quick briefing of what to expect. One employee will walk with you through the corridors the entire time. Don't worry, this doesn't deter you from getting scared nor does it negatively impact your experience. Honestly, I think it's more for safety reasons, because they can and will touch you! A good chunk of my fat roll on my left side was grabbed in the scare process. LMAO. Having someone guide you also allows you to pace your time while going through. You are informed that after a certain part, you will then be left to venture through a COMPLETELY dark maze to fend for yourself. Lights and cellphones are NOT PERMITTED for use to guide you. There is also mention of having to crawl through a tunnel. When my friend starts asking about the level of crawling involved, you realize you're not as young anymore. Are we talking about army crawl, bend down and crouch through the tunnel height? These are serious questions that need to be answered ;-) The answer to that question is, a hands and knees crawl is required, but it is carpeted/padded. We survived. The acting and props were above par and commitment was strong. We were legit full on screaming. My friend's son several times out screamed me and I thought he was going to hyperventilate. He was fine. To reiterate THEY WILL TOUCH OR GRAB YOU! So keep that in mind before purchasing tickets because there are no refunds. Also make sure if you're not a flight person (fight or flight response) that you keep your fight reactions in check. You DON'T want to inadvertently karate chop some poor kid for doing their job so well. It was a great time and I think we just about screamed all the stress out of ourselves. My sister had mentioned seeing a new escape room in Norfolk. But we weren't sure if it was good or quality worthy so we didn't try it. Until now. Fast forward to now, when they have 3 rooms. We decided to give it a go because we saw a groupon. This place is FANTASTIC! It's also the only escape room in Norfolk. It's diagonal from the D'art center and they do have parking. On their website it indicates it's okay to park in the lot in front of the building even if it states "tenants". It's located on the top floor, entrance is to the far right of the building. You can purchase to hide ducks in the room for an additional price. They do have restrooms but you need to get the pass code from them. They have a fun little extra thing they do where they hide a tiny bronze dragon called CeeCee and you get a sticker if you find her and get to autograph the book for doing so. We did not find her! Magical Misconceptions is essentially a Harry Potter room. It was well designed and contained quality props! Spoiler alert! It's a multi-room. We thought we were all done with casting spells and then poof! Another room! We BARELY made it with 8 seconds left!! It was a fun room! Highly recommend!! We enjoyed it so much we are doing the C.U.L.T. room next which is like a horror room. Their other room is Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I think it's also cute that they have a personalized border for their pics.

Found this place through a Groupon but certainly willing to return with or without the discount. Did the magical misconception room and as a Harry Potter fan, I had a blast. We did have a 30 minute wait to do the Funhouse so we decided to do the maze first. The maze wasn't very long, honestly probably five minutes or less to go through it, so we basically went back and forth through the maze numerous times to pass the time. I would give the maze a 6/10; it was decently fun, but would've been better if there was just more to it and it was longer. *they take and hold purses/bags with them behind the counter while you're in the maze; you get your purse back before you go upstairs though* As for the Selfie/Funhouse, I definitely loved the concepts/themes in the different rooms and the trippy aspects in each room. I recall there were only 4 rooms and a few decorated/themed walk through halls. I would give it an 8/10; I thought it was pretty cool. Definitely felt like it could've used a few more rooms/interactive areas. For what they provided though, I would say it was a pretty decent experience. You definitely go through the entire thing in about 15-20 minutes, so just like the maze, not very long; really just in and out. After doing it once, I don't see myself going back again unless they were to add some new aspects to the place. My overall rate of experience : 7/10

Virginia Beach Adventure Park gave us one of those summers that actually felt like a summer…read more My son and I did the summer pass for a month, and as a local, I really appreciated having something this active, outdoorsy, and genuinely fun right in our backyard. We spent what felt like half the summer up in the trees, conquering trails, zip lines, and whatever questionable life choices led me to believe I was ready for the "longest" course. Spoiler: it is absolutely the longest. By the end of that one, I had given the trees everything I had. We tackled almost every course we were eligible for, and even my husband joined us one day, which was very much outside his comfort zone. That alone deserves recognition. Every visit ended the same way: sweaty, exhausted, full of adrenaline, and smiling like we had just accomplished something ridiculous and wonderful. And honestly, we did. By the end of the summer, both my son and I had noticeably better core and upper-body strength. Those ropes and platforms will humble you very quickly. I don't really have a favorite course because each one had its own personality, but some definitely felt like they were designed by someone who enjoys watching people question their decisions halfway through. In the best way, of course. One thing I do wish were a little clearer is the parking situation. The recommended parking is over by one of the aquarium buildings, and then you walk over to the Adventure Park area. I understand that there are contractual reasons for this, but as a local, it felt a little unnecessarily complicated. I used the HONK app and applied for the $50 local parking voucher, which ended up covering my summer visits, so that was a big win. Also worth knowing: if you park in the suggested aquarium lot and stay later, that building closes around 4:30. Depending on timing, you may end up having to take the longer route back around via the bike path to get to your car. I may or may not have chosen my own parking strategy from time to time. What can I say? I believe in adventure before I even reach the ropes. There's a Dunkin' nearby, which became very important to me after several of these outings because once you've spent hours suspended in trees, coffee becomes less of a beverage and more of a recovery plan. There are also food options available at the aquarium if you want to stay on site. What I'll remember most, though, is getting to spend that time with my son. We laughed, struggled, climbed, zipped, sweated, and got stronger together. There's something really special about watching your kid work through a difficult obstacle 20 feet in the air and then seeing that proud little grin when they make it across. We came for the zip lines and ended up leaving with a summer full of confidence, strength, and some really great memories. For locals especially, the summer pass is absolutely worth considering. We ended the summer with the black diamond course, and it was not as nearly hard as waterfall!

Also along the way were 4 oculus stations for use. There's also an area in the back with gaming equipment but it was occupied with a birthday party and we weren't able to see it unfortunately. We paid for a game of the VR experience which came with a choice of 5/6 different scenarios. We chose the prison which was recommended by the worker who was helping us. The controls weren't explained in depth so it was a learning experience. There were multiple times where we stepped out of the circle due to trying to figure out the mechanics. Overall the hour long experience was nice to experience. There wasn't a display for pricing but we were told what the cost would be, I believe pricing should be displayed especially when entertainment is involved. I ended up checking in on the yelp app and got a coupon for doing so which was 15% off I believe. Even with the discount, the total was 80 something which was overpriced for what we got to experience but that's just my opinion. Isn't somewhere I'd run back to experience again but I'm sure kids will enjoy the experience nonetheless.

While this location isn't huge, they have a party room with 3 - 4 good sized tables and one restroom. The music that was playing was spot on which added to the fun! While they made good use of the space the first couple holes it gets rather tight or congested easily. We had 6 people in our group and it started to get a bit backed up. I can only imagine when it gets busy. There was actually a group of 2 teenagers or young adults that we let them play ahead of us because it would have been excruciatingly painful for them to wait for us. I didn't realize until the end that on the score card that they had a little scavenger hunt to look for certain items while you play. The parking lot is small. We arrived on an early and rainy Saturday afternoon thinking this placed would be PACKED but it was actually not very busy - but it did start getting much busier, closer to the 4-5PM time frame though. This place wasn't as big as I thought it would be - felt kind of cramped...? It has a small arcade area, maybe 30 games or - standard D&B type of games. The reward zone was lacking some cool prizes so if you're looking to redeem something cool, you'll be severely disappointed. They have 4 food stalls and they had burgers, pizzas, nachos, sandwiches, boba, wings, etc. They even had adult beverages too! Prices were pretty standard. I was just excited that they had nachos :-) They also have a small jungle gym area - I think mainly for kids between the ages of 4 and 12 which was a nice touch. As far as the skating rink, it's not small by any means but it's not huge either. I was able to skate without having to dodge too many people. I am sure towards the evening hours it can get a bit crazy! I would love for them to take song requests which I think would be fun. Prices for the skate rentals was very affordable especially since it wasn't time constricted. Something was off about the vibe of this place for me - it almost seemed like it wasn't "popping" to me. Was missing the wow factor and I didn't feel excited? This is a cool place to check out if you don't have anything else to do. Looks like a good place to have a kids birthday party though.
