We recently visited Escape Games Live in York, PA, and had an absolutely wonderful time. This experience was much needed as our daughter had received some difficult news earlier in the day. We were looking for a bit of a distraction, and we couldn't have asked for a better one. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance of the facility set the stage for an engaging and immersive experience. The lobby was beautifully decorated with antique furniture and deep colors that created a captivating atmosphere. The attention to detail was impressive and helped to get us in the right mood for the adventure ahead. The host of the game provided an orientation using a pop-up book to explain the game and the rules, which was a unique and delightful touch. It made the briefing fun and easy to understand for everyone. Our game master, Tim, was incredibly helpful and guided us through the entire experience. His enthusiasm and support added to the enjoyment and helped us feel more confident as we tackled the various puzzles. Our daughter, who needed a good distraction, had a blast and didn't want to leave! After we completed the game, we spent an additional fifteen minutes in the lobby figuring out one of the puzzles there. It was a great way to extend the fun and challenge ourselves a bit more. My girlfriend and I went to the escape room last night and it was amazing! We were informed that the room we were going into was handcrafted by the owner and the attention to detail is clearly shown. Wes gave us the rundown on the rules with 3 really funny books that were also handcrafted! Wes showed plenty of enthusiasm when explaining everything and answered our silly questions. We were told we can have unlimited hints if we needed them. With it being mine and my girlfriends first real escape room, we needed plenty of hints and they were happy to give us hints. The hints weren't obvious which kept the mystery with the room. Wes informed us that another worker Nick would come in later to shadow us. The jungle room was amazing, there was smoke as you entered and the atmosphere was super fun! You are given a 1 hour timer and although we didn't finish in the time given, Nick allowed us to stay another 15 minutes to finish it off. By that time it was getting late so we really appreciated the extra time. Nick explained some more of the rooms and took our picture at the end. For 75$ this was an amazing experience and we will definitely go again. The workers are amazing and super friendly and provided plenty of help. Myself and two others completed the 80s room and it was our second time at Escape Games Live. Allie was our aid in the control room--she has a great sense of humor and gave us effective and useful hints. The only suggestion we had as a group was to hold on the phone calls a little. Each group is going to be different with some needing no hints and others perhaps needing unlimited. Maybe asking if the group has a preference for hints during the pop-out book talk or if the group wants to make the calls to the control room? This was not a make or break in our decision to return and complete another room within the year (2021). The room was clean (as well as it could be according to the theme) and true to the 80s theme, the prompt was realistic to make the escape more enticing to complete, and the puzzles were well thought out. Even for 90s kids, we were able to get a dose of nostalgia. We would like to thank Allie for being a wonderful eye in the sky. Even when a technical interference occurred she cleverly made this mistake seem like part of the game--it was a superb cover-up! read more

We were looking for something to do with guests in town over Thanksgiving weekend so we decided to try Escape Games Live. Having done escape rooms in larger cities, we're concerned that a small town like York wouldn't have a great facility. But we were wrong. The waiting room alone was so interesting. While we waited for our room, the puzzles on the walls kept us interested and got us in the mindset for problem solving. We did Escape the Decade and loved the vintage 70s room! It was great for both the adults and the teens in our group (although some of the clues would have been much more challenging for them on their own since they missed many of the references.) The puzzles were clever and solvable. James Kirk was our facilitator. He was great. We know he was watching our progress because once or twice a clue slipped through the door telling us to check our math, or re-look at something. But the clues were cryptic enough that we didn't feel like he was solving it for us. We would definitely go back and are planning to hold our daughter's birthday there. read more

We had a great time at Escape Games Live over the weekend for our 9 year old's birthday party. The Mojo's Museum escape room is perfect for children around this age. Our escape room host, John, met us in the lobby and explained the rules and items of the kid's escape room. John was so patient with all the girls, who were bursting with excitement and anticipation about escaping after being 'locked' in the room. He answered all their questions and threw back funny comments to them throughout the demonstration. John had the perfect amount of patience to try and let the kids figure out the clues on their own, but would also step in when they were getting too far off track and provide a slight hint to keep them focused. The whole escape process took about an hour and the girls had an absolute blast. They couldn't stop talking about it on the way home. I can't say enough wonderful things about our host John, I think he might have as much fun as the girls, he truly has a passion for his craft. We will definitely be back. read more

Great experience! Parking was very easy and safe. We walked in and really loved all the decor and pictures on the walls. The bathrooms were clean and coat racks accessible and pointed out to us upon arrival. Our host Vika was very professional and funny while getting us acquainted with the rules and our storyline for the "Jungle" room. We appreciated the friendly service, even another staff member popped out of a central room to share info about the "Carnevil" room we were walking past and talking about. We were worried we wouldn't be good enough at puzzles for this but it was not intimidating at all and Vika made sure to assist us with helpful hints upon request. The space was clean and the puzzles well thought out. Highly recommend and we plan to come back again for our next girls night! As a side note, there are cute restaurants nearby so it's easy to make this experience into a very nice evening in York! We did dinner first and drinks after :-) read more

6 of us did the Sherlock room. We had so much fun! Each room is assigned a host (not in the room w you), and ours was Jonathan who was great along the way and helped with clues from the outside when needed. I am super competitive and didn't love the idea of clues, but the clues didn't give anything away, they added a layer to a puzzle you're working on. Definitely changed my thinking, he wanted us to have fun and clearly it's no fun if your simply told what to do. The waiting area is great, so definitely get there early if you can so you warm up your thinking with the clues around the common areas. We would definitely do this again! For our group, 6 was the perfect number but you could try more or less. I can't imagine doing this room with less than 5 with all there is to figure out. It was a great time, and in walking distance back to restaurants for drinks and deserts afterwards! We had parked at the garage near the Strand. Awesome time! read more

Our group of six experienced players had a blast in Carnevil! A lot of active exploring and puzzle solving to keep everyone busy. I like rooms where it expects multiple people to be at different parts of the room to complete tasks successfully and effectively. Carnevil had a lot of opportunities for everyone in the group to shine with their own brilliant moments. The theme and tone was consistent through out and the logical progressions were fun. Our gamemaster Seth knew we were there to be challenged and set the mood in a light hearted and engaging manner. Nudges here and there were welcomed and made the final push to escape with a few minutes left all the more satisfying. EGL emphasizes that the room is not for the faint hearted, but no one in my group had any moments where they felt unsafe. A unique and well planned game of thinking yourself free. EGL has kept up their brand with this room. read more

This was a Christmas gift for my 5 Grand-daughters, their moms and myself. We had a good time figuring out the puzzles to escape the room, best part was how the "girls" all worked together. We called our host, Wesley, a few times for clues but in the end we had approximately 7 minutes left to escape, which was better then we did last year. The staff was pleasant and easy to work with from explaining the rooms to choose from, reservations, and of course figuring out the escape. Just like last years as we left my girls wanted to know if we could come back again, that alone says a great deal when they range 11 to 15 years of age. Their complaints were they had to sit on the floor to work the locks and we actually were in the same room (with a new theme from last year) so they already knew two secrets upon entering the room. Escape Games Live has set the bar high when it comes to immersive, fun, and challenging escape rooms!!! We had 5 people in The Jungle room and were able to escape with just a little time to spare! We also got to sneak a peak into The Showdown room - WOW! These rooms are totally immersive!! Everything from the entrance area to the room decoration to the puzzles themselves are 100% top notch. This is truly what every escape game should aspire to be. Highly recommended for puzzle novices and enthusiasts alike. The hosts will make sure that you have a fantastic time whether this is your first time escaping the room or if you're a seasoned pro. This was my second visit to this location, although the first visit was years ago. This time we did the escape the 1980s room. I gotta say, I've done other rooms, across the state and this one has been my favorite so far! I loved the theme, everything from the 80s was just so much rad! The puzzles were fun, entertaining, challenging, diverse and interesting. Sports, tv, fashion, games, entertainment... the room got into all of that! Alf and E.T., Star Wars and Top Gun, Frogger and Mario, acid washed and more! All the little touches were perfect. Mike, out game master, gave great hints that were well-timed and sufficiently challenging in themselves so as to not give too much away. I highly reccomend trying it out. They have a good system going & I look forward to trying the other room. read more

Just finished escape room with our two sons and daughter-in-law this Easter weekend and had a fantastic time. It was my second time at Escape Games (I had done the "Precinct" room a few years ago), but for the rest this was their first ever escape room. Our host from Escape Games, James Kirk (seriously!), greeted us as we came in and it was clear from the start that he was going to be the perfect host. His enthusiasm and clear instructions got us off to a great start as we entered "Sherlock's office", one of their now 6 (I think) themed escape rooms. We all had an absolute blast, with James assisting us with clues only when we were totally barking up the wrong tree. I would highly recommend Escape Games Live, and if you can get James as your host - so much the better! read more

A fantastic gem run by people who genuinely love what they do. We did an escape room the first day and had so much fun we came back the next day for the VR which did not disappoint. James, our escape room host, did a great job of walking everyone through the escape room set up (and tossing a few hints our way). The puzzles are entertaining and challenging. Some of the props are hilarious--you'll know when you see how they communicate with people in the Young Sherlock Holmes room. Alex, our VR host, was fantastic and very accommodating. He made sure our group got comfortable inside the VR, including helping with any adjustments or problems. Everyone had a great experience, from our 11 year-old to the adults. Thank you Allison for hosting! She did a fantastic job with helping us when we needed hints, and gave us some extra time to try and solve the room. I've done both the 80s room and the jungle. Absolutely LOVED the 80s! Super clever and fun puzzles, and a great incorporation of the culture. The jungle is not for the faint of heart. It is more difficult, and I wouldn't recommend for first timers. Without spoiling, one of the puzzles felt frustrating and very time consuming. I think we would've finished had it not been for it. Also, one of the locks wasn't working properly, so even though we solved the code, it didn't open until a few of us tried to reset. The overall experience is worth the 5 stars! Can't say enough about our escape room adventure! We've been celebrating my sister in laws 40th birthday this weekend and we suggested seeing if there was last minute availability for an escape room. Escape Games Live was super accommodating and we were able to book the Pandemonium room. It's not one I would've voluntarily chosen (I'm NOT an Elvis fan at all), but the room was incredibly well decorated, the clues were tricky but logical, and our game master, Nick, was entertaining and provided just the right amount of help (and ONLY when we asked for it). 2 of us have done escape rooms before, the other two had not. Wish we lived closer to this area so we could do more of the rooms, because this one was truly top notch!! read more

I took my teenage daughter and tween son to Escape Games Live yesterday. The three of us did the Young sherlock room and it was amazing. The room and props look fantastic, there were many different types of puzzles, and they were just the right amount of difficult and possible to solve. It was great to see the creative minds of my kids as they worked through puzzles I couldn't get, while I was able to solve some they didn't get. It was a great experience for families, but would also be great for friends, team building, or couples. BTW, we did manage to escape with less than 3 minutes to go. Very fun and the host was excellent. I very much recommend giving them a try. We're already planning to go back for another room. read more

I reserved the Jungle Room for a birthday group of 7 back in January, but we had to cancel due to snow. They were very understanding and kindly let me reschedule for any other day this year. We chose to come this past Sunday for their last time slot. Our host Lionel was great and very entertaining! He made us feel comfortable, considering none of our group had ever done an escape room before, it was a wonderful experience! We had an amazing time and the decor and atmosphere of the entire place was so immersive. They never rushed us and we were able to complete the tasks with just a few minutes to spare! We had an absolute blast in the Escape the 80's Room at Escape Games Live in York! The room was filled with nostalgic elements and it was so much fun to solve puzzles while reminiscing about that era. The attention to detail was impressive, and it really transported us back in time. Our room host, Lorraine, was fantastic! She was friendly, enthusiastic, and provided just the right amount of hints to keep us on track without giving away too much. Her energy and positive attitude made the experience even more enjoyable.
