The venue has potential and the show/artists I saw there were excellent but certain things about the venue itself really, really, really detracted from my experience. 1. It was shocking that a venue with a strict non-smoking policy still permits smoking and vaping inside on the main stage and the dance floor. Last night, people were smoking all over and absolutely nothing was being done about it. I saw at least 10 examples, at least half of which were in the VIP area next to the main stage, in plain sight of everyone. Having smoke blown in my face multiple times really detracted from my experience, and smoking indoors has also been illegal in NL since 2008. 2. The placement of the gogo dancers was inconvenient. The dancers were on top of the DJ booth, obscuring the clear view of the DJ for at least 10-20% of people. In Vegas, they stand near the DJ Booth or around the edge of the dance floor or by the VIP area, which still allows club goers to see the DJ. Escape should also place its dancers in a place where they do not obscure the DJ. 3. That there were only female gogo dancers made me feel very uncomfortable, and like the club was geared more for the traditional heterosexual male experience than for the female/gay male experience. I appreciate and respect the gogo art form and suggest that if Escape has gogo dancers as a part of the entertainment, that there should be female AND male dancers (and nonbinary, if available, for inclusivity). Avoid at All Costs!! My experience at this club was absolutely horrible and unacceptable. I love going out with my friends, but this was so bad.. girls don't go! I went with two girlfriends, hoping for a fun night out, but it turned into a nightmare. The music was mid at best, and the environment was extremely disrespectful. One man even sexually harassed my friend by lifting her skirt, which is beyond disgusting. When we reported this to security, they completely dismissed it and let the man stay. This kind of neglect is outrageous and unsafe. The lack of action from the staff shows how little they care about their patrons' well-being. On top of that, the club is overpriced and nowhere near worth the money. The disrespectful crowd, mid music, and lack of safety make this place the worst l've ever b to. ABSOLUTE SCAM!!!!! They claim to charge you a particular fee at the entrance (€12.50 in my case), but then REQUIRE you to store your coat in a locker for minimum €5, €10 in most cases. A visit to Amsterdam would not be complete without a visit to one of its many nightclubs . We love deep house and trance, but wanted something more mainstream. We did some research and ended up at Escape on a Saturday night. Their Brainwashed format was a series of DJ's playing a very good mix of EDM hits. We made a good choice to go with their, compared to Vegas, reasonably priced table service. Purchased entry on line beforehand. First row in the balcony was perfect. Arrived at midnight to the VIP entrance and after a quick security pat down we were at our table... Patrick was our server and he did a great job keeping us happy. Great music and atmosphere, lots of room at the table for 4 people, never felt crowded. If you like the feel of a packed dance floor, down the stairs and you are in the mass of dancers. A couple of things different than most US clubs.... Mandatory coat check, men and women... no exceptions and a small fee to use the very clean attended bathrooms. read more

So many complaints regarding this night club - 1) they made us throw our pre-rolls away that we had just bought 10 minutes before, that were stored safely in my purse. 2) They made one of our friends pay for a locker for his hat and jacket, meanwhile 10 other people walked by with jackets. This particular bouncer was adamant that our friend could not wear his jacket while the rest of us in our group had jackets on. It made no sense. 3) you have to pay 1 euro to USE THE BATHROOM. REPEAT - YOU HAVE TO PAY TO USE THE BATHROOM. BULLSHIT. 4) Drunk annoying people spilling glasses everywhere. 2 different people dropped their glasses right next to us. People pushing everywhere. Located right in the middle of Rembrandt Square, Escape's name is fitting to its serene atmosphere. It has mostly outdoor tables, all of which face the Square so you can watch the bicycles and passersby as you sip your Amstel under the shade. The food (mostly sandwiches, fish and chips, burgers and salads) is moderately priced at 8 -12 euros per item. Service was great, too. For restaurant patrons, there is a free bathroom upstairs. Free bathrooms are a rarity in Europe. And at night, Escape turns into a club with live music (it varies depending on the night). I would recommend Escape to vacationers because of their affordable prices and fabulous location. read more

Went there on a Friday night for the "House Rules" event. The entrance fee was 16€ , an additional 1€ for the wardrobe and each visit to the toilet is 50 Cent. The two DJs of that night were DJ TROJ and Raymundo. They are very good and play progressive house with an awesome light show and also some special effects. Really enjoyed the night and left at around 5am when they started to clean up the dance floor. read more

I love the location as it's right in the middle of Rembrandt Square, but the rest seemed like a wannabe high class club. First the cover was 15 Euros, but I wanted to experience an Amsterdam club before I left. Next the drinks were pretty ridiculously expensive. The place was 75% men and that is not an exaggeration. Even after the 15 Euro cover you have to pay 50 cents to use the restroom! Isn't the 15 Euro cover enough? Worst of all, the music was just mediocre. Escape is an average nightclub. It gets an extra star because it books good DJs on a regular basis. The sound system is quite good, but bring earplugs because it is cranked pretty loud sometimes. We went through, PAID for the entrance, and then as we were approaching the club entrance the security guy stopped us and asked to take our jackets off. If I could give this place negative stars I would since somebody slashed me with a bottle and gave me a 2cm laceration on the ear. The guy came from behind and knocked me out and once I came to, the club was escorting us out claiming I fell through a table too drunk. Yet I hadn't a scratch on me aside from the laceration and didn't even have a headache the next day. My friends didn't see it or hear any commotion of someone falling through a table. I was barely even drunk and remember everything up until getting suckerpunched/bottled. And the club will not even return my emails or phone calls. Very classy considering we got a table there.
