Bought new 2023 Subaru from this place. Not even a year goes by and front tire starts wearing on the inside. They check the alignment and said it's with in specs. They switched the rear good tires to the front and sure enough not even 7 months later they are wearing in the inside again. They blame it on the tires that come with car and it normal to go threw tires every year witch blows my mind. Corporate won't help the tire company won't do anything because it came with the car. Will never trust this place taking it somewhere else it it continues will be trading it in for a different brand. Never again will I buy a Subaru... beware of this place.... read more

Sales person was helpful. Car price was good. Sales manager was astute at increasing dealer's profit so be more careful that I was. During my car purchase, the sales manage presented a large stack of documents and asked me to sign them in rapid succession. At no point did he clearly explain or highlight the Subaru Limited Warranty that was included, nor did he discuss its benefits, costs, or why it was necessary. It was treated as just another form in the many I was required to sign, and I only discovered later that I had paid for an optional policy I never requested, needed, or understood. I already have far better coverage for car rental expense, towing, and trip interruption provided by others and I certainly didn't need to pay $799.69 for inferior coverage. read more

Purchased a used vehicle on Oct. 9, 2024. Had purchased the Extended Warranty and GAP Insurance at the time of purchase. However, after reviewing this at home decided against these and canceled both of these 3 days later (10/12/24). I followed the outlined protocol for canceling both of these, with a signed letter of cancellation. It is now 3/18/25 (157 days) and there has still been no refund of the amount paid up front for these. I've been getting different answers every time I contact them. I don't believe this any fault of the sales person, as they have tried reaching out to different management personnel for a resolution. There is no way this should have carried on this long. Whenever contacting by email, I ask for an acknowledgement, but no one ever follows up. I'm not sure what else I can do as this has been the worst car purchase I've ever had by far. I will not recommend this dealership to anyone based on how they treat a customer after the purchase. read more

I went in for a free oil change and wanted the service center to check out my odometer screen that went blank after hitting a bump in my 24 Crosstrek Wilderness. I specifically asked if something might have come unplugged, but I was told by a "senior master tech" that I needed a new wiring harness, with a quote of almost $6000. I later found out that the problem was simply a plug that became unseated. The exact thing I mentioned to them but was dismissed. I've tried reaching out to Ertle for an explanation and shared my concerns with the service rep and customer service, but I haven't heard back from anyone. So I can only conclude that things like this are a common practice at Ertles service center. I had a great experience buying my car, but this whole situation feels either like a major oversight or worse--dishonesty. Either way, it's left me very disappointed. A bunch of scam artists at this location. Stay away if you value your time, money, and vehicle. Lack of honesty and integrity as well as competence in actually performing the tasks they bill you for. In May I had my car inspected at Ertle Subaru. The inspection paperwork showed my front brakes were in the green with 9 mm of lining. Less than three months, and under 1,200 miles later, I was told that not only were the brakes worn out to nothing, but the rotors and suspension needed to be replaced and adjusted.    There is also another lack of consistency between the two visits with the multi-point inspection. In May the battery condition showed red and they wanted to sell me a service for $85 to clean the corrosion which I declined. In August when I came back the battery condition was green. According to the paperwork it seems to have fixed itself. Another issue is whatever alignment I was billed for in May did not seem to last. In my most recent visit the vehicle was found to be outside of specification. They also wanted to replace my quality all season tires which are less than one year old with store bought ones and charge me $100 for disposal as well as the cost of the new tires. I also declined this service.   This location has a very rude and disrespectful staff. I showed the service advisor working at the front desk my paperwork from the last visit that displayed my front brakes were in the green with over 9mm of lining each. I asked him how both brakes could not only wear out completely but also damage the rotors within three months and under 1,200 miles? He told me that "The clutch might have caused the breaks to wear out at an accelerated rate." I then needed to step away to make a few phone calls. When I got back to the front desk to pay with my card, he and the other employees were all giggling. It is worth mentioning that my car is an automatic and brakes normally emit a squealing noise prior to needing to be replaced. The same week that my car started making a metallic sound I stopped driving it and scheduled a diagnostic appointment.   When I drove home from my last service visit I could still hear a faint scraping noise primarily on the right side when travelling in a straight line and a squealing and grinding noise on occasion when making turns. This indicates that the existing issues with my car were not all addressed. I then took my car to a privately owned garage and they were able to identify and fix the problem. The scraping noise was caused by a piece of metal bent at an peculiar angle on the rear right backing plate that was digging into the brake pad and rotor. The mechanics at this garage said they couldn't understand how something like this could have happened from normal driving. If left untreated I would be in a similar situation three months down the line. It is also relevant to mention that at my visit three months prior both rear brake pads and rotors were replaced at Ertle. read more

WARNING to any used car purchaser. This is the 4th and final vehicle we are ever going to buy from Ertle. Bought a 2018 Jeep Wrangler with 28k miles. Turns out that the engine had damaged heads (found this out much later) and it was never mentioned, so either they never properly inspected the vehicle or they deliberately held back that information. So either deception or incompetence, both are unacceptable when spending a large amount of money and given "guarantees" that the vehicle is good to go. I purchased the extended warranty's for the Jeep, a full powertrain and bumper to bumper coverage, so basically every single item in the vehicle except wear items are covered. So I bring the vehicle to the dealer for service since the engine is having massive over heating issues and a test was done prior to verify that the head gaskets are no good and leaking. I verify with the service manager that ALL the service will be covered under warranty before I even give them the keys. Service manger calls the warranty company and confirms it. Good to go. Several days later I get a video from the tech explaining that the vehicle is going to need an engine replacement as well as a new cooling system. Again, all supposed to be covered. Several more days go by and I have to again inquire as to the status and then I'm told by the service manager that they are going back and forth with THEIR warranty company, the one that Ertle sells when buying a vehicle from them. Now all of a sudden the warranty company say's they are not going to honor the warranty because the head gaskets are the reason for the block being warped and there is now nothing going to be covered. They said that if the engine had a mechanical failure THEN the gasket's would be damaged only then would they cover it. For those who are unaware, gaskets are the reason for an engine to overheat, not the engine overheating and then making the gaskets fail. So they conveniently switched everything around so they didn't have to pay for the replacement. Ertle was also charging 17.8k$ for this work and the engine was going to be used for that price. Which is an absolutely insane price for something that can be bought for under 5k$ So now I am left without a working vehicle and still having to pay on it all because Ertle sells an absolute SCAM of a warranty AND was negligent or dishonest about the vehicles condition. Thanks for nothing Ertle, you're dishonesty screwed me. read more

I'm afraid I've had to rethink my appreciation for the Service Department, after two issues. The first one, last year, was addressed and solved satisfactorily, but then at the end of August, I was let down once again. My service visit on 8/29 included a "free battery test." On the inspection form, the battery was listed as "Checked and OK at this time." Three-and-a-half weeks later, on 9/23, I visually inspected the battery myself, and discovered severe corrosion on both battery terminals! Initially, Ertle's Service Manager responded through Dealerrater and said he would look into this to ensure that my concerns were appropriately addressed. He asked me to call or email him, so I emailed on October 7, never to hear back anymore! I have - to the best of my ability - cleaned the terminals myself and am hoping for the best. And I'm rethinking where to go the next time my car needs to be serviced - Ertle's promise of "more peace of mind" at their Service Center certainly doesn't work for me anymore... read more

If I could give half a star, or no star at all, I would. What a waste of time and effort to come out empty handed due to mishandling and mistreatment by the sales department. My family and I came in, test drove, and found the vehicle we wanted. We did leave once to go try a different dealership, but ultimately returned and were happy with what Ertle was willing to give us. However, things went south quickly once we returned to purchase. The woman that took care of the finalizing process continued to push financing despite us already being ready to provide payment. We had more cash down than was asked and still this process became pushy. When we were on the phone to set up insurance, their finance manager came over with the itemized list that was $200 more than the agreed upon price. (The bank was already processing the cashiers check for the agreed upon amount at this point) When we told this man about the $200 increase, he immediately took the form back and the initial woman returned and stated that the problem was with the computer. "The computer that initially quoted you didn't process the fees correctly. So it is $200 more." Again, we already spoke to the bank. Payment was all but done with the initial price. Not this $200 up charge. When I stated that it was an issue with their system and thus, their mistake and we would not be paying the $200, this conversation continued to go back and forth until the statement "Well, I'm sorry you don't have the $200 to pay it" came from this woman. Our paperwork was done. The initial sale was all but completed. There was no offer to fix this mistake. There was no offer to take ownership. And there was no offer to speak with a manager to even "see what they could do" to make up for the "mistake" of THEIR system. We walked out and canceled this transaction for the blatant dishonesty and lack of customer care. read more

Ertle Subaru has undergone tremendous improvement since Covid. They offer top notch sales and service. Our service advisor, Brian DePasquale, is excellent. If you have a problem, he asks all the right questions to make sure you receive the best service possible. He keeps you updated, he returns calls, and he never tries to oversell. He is very knowledgeable about his cars, and he is very personable. In regard to Subaru in general, it is clear that once you buy a car from them, their interest is in good service. You may be greeted by Colleen who is efficient and friendly. She takes care of signing you in, getting you a loaner, and making sure you are taken quickly by your service advisor. Alia usually answers the phone, and is pleasant while offering you a service appointment. If you used Ertle before Covid and had bad experiences...try them again. Two issues over the past two years. One at the end of 2021, and the second just this week. In 2021 at the time of the annual PA state inspection, a free multi-point inspection was performed on my car and two major issues were brought to attention...#1 was leaking head gaskets and #2 was a leaking power steering rack. Quoted prices were $2398 and $1215, respectively. On that same inspection sheet, the exhaust system (a critical and obvious component for the state inspection!) was shown to be "green" (Checked and OK at this time). Not "yellow" or "red". Two days after having the dealership issue the state inspection sticker while driving on I-80, the rear intermediate pipe hanger and bolted flange that were completed RUSTED, broke and allowed the pipe to come loose and contact the road while traveling. The technician overlooks the obvious while trying to push for almost $4000 of other repairs! On a car that may only be worth $4000. Good job, huh? This week, my wife took her car in for PA state inspection and was told that some suspension bushings were in need of replacement in order to pass. The list price on the bushings are about $45 each, but she was charged $87.20 each. Wow. Quite a ridiculous price matrix. Almost 2X more than suggested list price!?! Secondly, was charged $23.95 for tire rotation when the labor operation for the bushing replacements, plus the annual inspection requires both front and at least one rear wheel to be pulled. So 3 of the 4 wheels are already off the car and we get charged an additional $23.95 to take the fourth wheel off and roll it around to the other side of the car?? Maybe service advisors can pleasantly surprise their customers and say we rotated your tires for free since all but one were already off the car instead of just racking up more and more charges. No wonder they advertise "special & discounted" pricing for simple oil changes and other menu-priced items...don't worry...you're paying for it somewhere else on your repair order. Customers, be cautious...do your research and shop around. Very little consistency here. read more

I had a very bad experience with Ertle Subaru beginning of the year after we bought a brand new Impreza, we wanted the model that had leather seats but they didn't have it in stock so they said they will order one for us. When we picked up the car the leather was different! They said they had to use a 3rd party contractor to custom make the seats...... what!? Should be factory it's a brand new car.... Just a lot of excuses and lying and being sneaky. Not only from the sales person but also the manager... after they said they would correct it. A week later calling saying they can't do anything about it. After this I said never again at Ertle.... I am a Subaru ambassador and this location is scratched off my list for buying cars and service. It is overpriced and sketchy. Absolutely do not go here. Fast forward to today, i called the pets department because I need to buy some oil and I'll filter because I do my own oil change to save money and make sure it's done right. The parts department just quoted me for 6 quarts and the filter.... Almost double the price of what I usually get from other Subaru dealers. Don't waste your time just make the extra drive to go to Faulkner Subaru in Bethlehem. They are the best dealer I have dealt with besides Ertle and Ciocca Subaru. After years and years of bad reviews Ertle seems to still not look at reviews and try to improve. It would get the way more business but hey good luck. Now, during the pandemic they were desperate to get our 10 yo subaru. when we were ready to get a new car, they offered to take the old car o'off our hands ' for $0 trade in value. we reufsed; they said our car had $3000 worth of repairs to fix the car; we paid it. 2 months later, we got a crosstrek at Ciocca, They offered us $5000 for the same car, sight unseen. we drove down to pick up our new car , and the old car BROKE DOWN on the road even though we had just paid $3000!! we had to get towed into Ciocca Subaru- and they STILL gave us $3000 for the car!! They did not ever do a submersion test to.check foe a nail despite me.explaining I am a.SN mom and it's extremely hard to get my car in. 3) Fast.forward 10 months they tell me I need 4 new tires even though they only have 30k miles and I was juat told they are in great shape...and then they passed my tires on statr inspection. 4) This.final visiy they smashed a personal item in my backseat out of carelessness and had zero comment when told. 5) I failed state inspection but found out myswlf when I got outside after I paid. I wad NOT given tje official form in case I am pulled over. 6) I investigated a trade-in and not one but two hard credit checks were run without notification or permission .7) They rotatwd my hubcaps, not my tires. LEMON. Over $4,000 work needed on a $10,500 Car!!! Salesperson stated car went through multipoint inspection and all checked out ok... Sales managers were unprofessional and lied about price of car that was agreed to on the sales floor. When the written contract came out it included additions not discussed on the floor. "That's the way everyone does it -- when's the last time you bought a car?" was the line verbatim. VERY unethical and shady. When I requested they be removed -- the "real selling/deception" tactics were employed by the sales manager team as they tried to upsell and qualify the additional items that they REFUSED to take off the contract. In reality, the car had: *** BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *** BAD COMPRESSOR *** WEAK BATTERY that needed replacement *** WORN BREAKS & ROTORS $4,000+ worth of work. After much discussion with Jim Ertle he agreed to replace Cat. Today I learned for A FACT that the compressor is bad. This was bad since we bought it -- I've had to suffer through week after week of heat. Anyone who lives in the Poconos knows just how how hot it's been. As a local real estate agent, I NEEDED to buy a reliable car from a reputable dealer. I gave your team the benefit of the doubt since you assisted me with the bad catalytic converter. We were searching for a car and went to a lot of dealerships to see what we liked. When we got to Ertle we were greeted by Johnny Lombardi who was amazing from the very beginning. He explained the difference between the 2 vehicles we were considering. When the top of the line car was above what we wanted to spend, he got us the next trim down in the highest level in order to meet our needs. While he didn't have the color we wanted on the lot, he found it at another dealership and had it brought over (other dealers said this would cost money, not with Johnny). Even in the week between when we bought it and picked it up, he was great with communication. A car search can be a daunting process but I am so grateful we stopped at Ertle and more than that, had the opportunity to work with Johnny. I had purchased the car about 100 miles away about 2 weeks ago and was looking for any major problems since I still had a limited warranty. I received a print out of what needed to be completed and the prices to fix my problem but the tech who wrote the report was not available to discuss the findings. It was a hectic day at Ertle but that is their business. I reviewed the report and wanted to ask the car tech why they recomended parts (sway bar links) to install on the vehicle. I had the receipt for the parts that I had just purchased and watched another mechanic replace the parts on that Subaru just 2 days prior. I never experienced something like this in my life, one year old vehicle bought brand new in Colorado and we just moved to PA. Go to get a routine oil change as per our extra maintenance package that we foot a good bit extra for each month and a new inspection sticker for switching states: drop car off at 10am and look over car, tires look great, pressure sensors on point. Pick up car at 4pm, they never got around to inspecting the car and it's on a Saturday so now we have to take a day off of work to get it inspected somewhere else AND THEY PUT A SCREW IN THE TIRE so close to the wall so that you can't patch it! A shiny new brand new screw in the tire that wasn't there when we dropped it off! Put in the tire in a way that only a screw driver itself could do! Came into the dealership with the lady forcefully pressuring new tires she already has all wrung up for us, they tried to charge us for our oil change that is "free" with the maintenance we pay for and we have no inspection sticker which is the reason why we came. Tire pressure low and now sensors are picking up that the tire is going flat as we drive and now we are forced to buy tires. We have a 10 month old and a two year old we need to drive around and a tire about to go flat! There was no screw when we dropped it off so someone is doing shady stuff here! Absolutely should be shut down for malpractice! Corporate should be investigating and this dealership should no longer be in business. I a received confirmation text Thursday & a reminder text at 12:30 on Saturday, I got there an hour & half later and was told neither of the cars were available but they could show me the more expensive models they had on the lot. The service dept is horrible.. they scam people and use old unrevised parts for warranty work rather than using the revised parts from multiple tsbs stating there were issues with them in the first place!
