Ok I was a smart ass when my Girlfriend wanted to visit Cheyenne. Then she said "I wonder if they have a record store?" Contempt prior to investigation. All preconceptions: dropped. If you're a metalhead, stop here. Half of their selection is metal or punk. Perfect. I dropped $100 on records I'm about to lug onto a plane and I could very easily have dropped a couple hundred more but I'm a hopeless addict and I need to pace myself. They have $10 clearance finds, reasonable prices on everything else new and used and their selection is pretty damned good. Definitely worth a stop! P.S. thanks for the sticker! read more

Great old time record shop. Found a few gems. The staff was super mice and the owner was pleasant and helpfull. Record pricing seemed a little high, but in great shape. Not nearly as many vinyl as I had expected. Return visit. Hardly any decent (VG+ or greater used) Large selection of new. What a cool little record store! Ernie November looks like a store that you would find in San Francisco. But it is located right in the middle of Cowboy country. They have a great selection of new, used and discount CD's. They also offer some pretty cool T-shirts and other Rock, Punk, and Country Music memorabilia as well. I ended up purchasing a couple of discount CD's and Carolynne r. found an awesome Jazz compilation CD that she loved. One of the funniest things about Ernie November is that they take pictures of all of the shop lifters who get arrested at the store and post them on the wall. They even have a mug shot of some former MTV host that I never heard of who tried to take the ole five finger discount. Who knows if I will ever be in Cheyenne again, but if I do, I will be sure to stop back into Ernie November and pick up some driving music for the long, road home. read more

The only place I buy my music from and have been a loyal customer for 18 years. Ernie's is more than a record store. For people here it is an oasis for entertainment and the music scene. Keith is a great dude and hires a tight crew to staff the store. Here is what they do: 1.Place orders for you at a reasonable and fair price. Call you or contact you when order is in. 2. Put together great shows in the store because they love music an want to share it. 3. Promote local events and businesses to keep downtown businesses healthy. 4. Care about customer service and satisfaction on a personal level. 5. Stock rare finds like art books of Giger and my favorite cult films. Just don't: 1. Steal. This store is not some corporate mega chain. The effects of stealing will directly effect a human being's livelyhood. 2. Be rude. 3. Expect a mall or otherwise sterile and bland experience. 4. We stopped by here on a roadtrip through Cheyenne. They were playing Can's 'Tago Mago' as I browsed through a limited selection of new vinyl. They've got a decent amount of used vinyl, considering its Cheyenne, but the used titles that they have are fairly common. Mostly 60's, 70's, 80's classic rock. I picked up a Captain Beefheart reissue on vinyl and some early 90's cassettes for a buck a piece: Seaweed, Superchunk & Juliana Hatfield. The guy behind the counter was friendly... having a store like ernie's in Cheyenne when I was discovering my musical tastes as an impressionable young man had a ridiculously profound impact on my life as well as many of my friends. whether I had the fortune of dealing with Keith or one of my personal buddies whom Keith had employed or even a relative stranger behind the counter I have never had a bad experience in that shop. through the years I've found old records that I needed to reinstall into my collection and I've taken many a gamble on bands and albums I had never heard of thanks to a staff suggestion- they've never let me down. I have numerous memories of attending shows of touring bands and local groups alike and have even had the great pleasure of performing a few of those gigs myself. while Cheyenne officials pay little real attention to their dwindling downtown area Ernie November stands tall as one of the city's most popular stores (in spite of a few censorship attempts from former mayor mccheese) simply because they do business the right way. I haven't lived in Cheyenne for many many years but I make a point to visit the shop and make whatever purchase I can and enjoy a few moments with Keith or whomever happens to be working because it is always a highlight of my trip. there are no places like ernie's in Cheyenne and thankfully so. there are few places so welcoming and unique in the United states. but I can honestly say that my life is better because I wandered in as a bewildered teenager with an open mind. do yourself a favor and SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS TODAY!!! Ernies is the only place to go in Cheyenne if you want that local indie music shop feel. I wouldn't exactly call it a record shop, as the selection of used records is quite small, and new record selection is smaller still. But, if you're looking for a new/used CD this is the place for you. The staff is very knowledgeable & friendly. If they don't have what you're looking for, they'll be more than happy to order a copy of it in for you. Ernie November also has clothing, jewelry, posters, movies, candles, incense, and more. They cater mostly to a young crowd, but I'm sure older folks in search of a hard to find album could also make use of their services! read more

I made a brief detour to Cheyenne while driving across the country recently, on a mission to visit at least one record store in every state. Ernie November was my Wyoming stop and it did not disappoint. In fact, I was surprised by the diversity of selection. I found a few new releases of soul music (Curtis Harding and Grant Green) on CD, a late 80s ambient collaboration involving Steve Roach in the used vinyl section, and a bunch of interesting $1 discs in their bargain bin. Friendly and engaging clerks, and an overall nice experience digging around. Pricing was fair. They have a back room packed with older vinyl and again, selection was wide. They even had a few crates of 12" release and I found at least one very rare Detroit electro release which is still sitting there in Cheyenne most likely. Go get it! Lots of folks browsing around. They also sold t-shirts, incense, posters, snarky dish towels, etc. I came from the music and would recommend this store to anyone else venturing through the beautiful state of Wyoming. read more

ernie Novembers in chyenne is allways a great experience. been there many times,allways cool staff with insight and personality on tunes. im from Scottsbluff ne. last time I swung through picked up a shirt and a couple cd's and a couple stickers. I made a mistake and thought id shop around further in town. so I made my purchases and left with the pleasant surprise of a complimentary decal. I was planning on making a return before returning home but couldn't make it. boooo.. got home late that night and for the next couple days couldn't get their stock outta my head. like a day later I called down there old school. one of the staff (cool guy) answered the phone and was more than happy to round up the good I shoulda just picked up there anyways and shipped it all within a workday- for a great price!
