A 22 year old goes swimming in a lake, gets weird bumps on her face, panics, goes to a doctor and doc says she must have some kind of bacteria, uses prescribed medicine and still looks horrible, freaks out because she can't be seen walking around like this forever, finds a dermatologist through yelp and makes a same day appointment with a really sweet lady on the phone, meets up with Dr. Urban and doc says, "Looks like you might have chickenpox..." Well. Shit. What kind of 22 year old gets chickenpox? But anyhoo- doc prescribes the right medicine and it all goes away smoothly, as smoothly as chickenpox can go away I mean (and by smoothly I mean that it sucked a lot) andddd Dr. Urban even calls to check up on me a couple days later. THANK YOU SO MUCH DOCTOR!! You saved my face. Dr. Urban is a very gentle and caring doctor! I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a dermatologist! It says a lot about his experience as a dermatologist. He doesn't waste your time! That's probably why he has more time available than most other derms! Also, I find that he is very knowledgeable about the things he suggests and prescribes. If you spend the time to ask him questions he'll answers very confidently - I love that! He's a very nice and calm doctor. He makes you feel comfortable. In fact, last time I saw him he remembered the little tid bits I had mentioned about myself the time before, which blew me away because I'm 29 and I don't even have a memory that good. Just goes to show how personable he is. Finally, his assistant is very nice too. I think she answered my calls after hours once -which I would never expect! She answered my questions every time I called and was never rude or short. One last thing - his office is filled with samples! He also gives you great rebates for prescriptions even if you don't ask for them! I'll definitely be recommending Dr. Urban to my friends/family!

I arrived on time, checked in, and was told to have a seat. After waiting 45 minutes, I went back to the desk to ask when I might be seen. The brunette receptionist rudely said, "It's gonna be a while." When I asked, "Longer than the 45 minutes I've already waited?" she coldly replied, "Yup." She never apologized or explained the delay, and I don't understand why they agreed to move my appointment earlier if they were already overbooked. I wasted a lot of time on a busy day. It's unfortunate because Dr. Struck is wonderful, but some of his staff made the experience very disappointing.

As an…read moreAfrican American woman with melanin-rich skin, I made it very clear during my consultation that keloids run in my family and that I was concerned about scarring after surgery. Dr. Struck assured me that it would not be a problem and that I would heal well. Trusting his expertise, I moved forward with a tummy tuck and breast augmentation. Looking back, I feel like it was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. After surgery, I had to return to multiple office locations because stitches were left in both my breasts and my stomach for months. My surgery was in early January, and I was told the stitches would dissolve. Instead, some had to be removed, and others continued working their way out over the next 3 to 6 months. This left my incisions inflamed, irritated, and delayed my healing. I don't know whether someone in training was involved in my care, but the experience was very frustrating. I paid approximately $17,000 in cash for my procedures. Today, I have keloid scars around my nipples, across my stomach, and around my waist. I am embarrassed to wear crop tops or anything that shows my stomach because of how noticeable the scars are. I reached out to Dr. Struck several times to express how devastated I felt and how much my confidence had been affected. It often felt like my concerns were dismissed. Within the first year after surgery, one of my breast implants became hard. Initially, I was told there was nothing that could be done and that it would likely stay that way. Eventually, he did perform another surgery, and thankfully my breast is now soft again, which I truly appreciate. However, the keloid scarring remains. Because I specifically informed Dr. Struck before surgery that I was at high risk for keloids, I expected that concern to be taken seriously and factored into my treatment. I wish more precautions had been taken, or that I had been told if I was not a good candidate for the procedure. I am sharing my experience so that others--especially patients with melanin-rich skin who are prone to keloid scarring--will ask detailed questions and fully understand the risks before moving forward. My hope is that future patients who express these concerns receive the time, attention, and care they deserve.
