However, our stay here was so amazing that it hasn't left our minds. So, the "bed" part of bed and breakfast? So comfortable! The rooms were amazing and had such a sense of history. The rooms were very spacious and beautifully decorated. Vintage wallpaper and bed dressings give you the full effect of traveling in time to a bygone era. The showers and bathtubs were great. The tubs were the claw foot standalone type tubs and not the typical Home Depo special you get in motels and hotels. There's just something about showering in one of those tubs that takes you back. However if you want to use them, there are indeed wonderful modern jacuzzis available in the rooms as well which are super relaxing after a day of walking around and sightseeing and shopping. Things were very comfortable inside despite it being very hot and so humid outside. And there were extra fans if you needed them and you wanted to stay cooler too. The furniture is actual wood and not the cheap particle board stuff used with in so many places today. The wood just feels "rich and elegant." From the outside, you get such a sense of history. The place is absolutely beautiful. Now... the "breakfast" part of bed and breakfast was so filling. You will eat like you've never eaten before and will want more but won't have the space to put it. I wish we could have stayed an extra day even just for the food. The owner asks about your preferences and needs and does such a great job with the food. She makes a killer sweet tea as well! The place was remarkably maintained and the owner was so welcoming. She felt like a family member we haven't seen in so long, like a grandmother to us and our kids. She was super flexible about the check in and check out times as well, enabling us to get a quick shower in before leaving so that after sight seeing we didn't need to sit in our sweaty clothes for the next leg of the trip. We so much wanted to stay longer! It was such a great experience there is no doubt that we will stay here every time we come to Metropolis. Oh and I should mention that when you stay here, you do get admission to the Superman museum included in the cost which is just icing on the cake. So really, why are you still reading? Book a stay. You will not be disappointed. Five stars, fifty stars, five hundred stars!

Regina and Fred own the inn. The are unbelievable cordial, caring and accommodating. Our room was so comfortable and we slept so well Regina is a trained chef and had gourmet breakfasts every day. She checked to make sure our tastes were met and each breakfast was so yummy. Great coffee. Cookies in our room The inn itself is an old home that has been done so nicely. Our room had a new bathroom and shower. We had everything we needed to relax. The grounds are prestigious. The caretakers Norma and John were great hosts and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. This is a cool looking turn of the 20th century midwestern Greek Revival(? I'm not hip to too many styles) house with lots of Corinthian columns and a wrap around porch with many rockers to sit at and look at the Patoka River and Jasper City Mill. Great looking woodwork inside and nice little decorative features in the molding and wood abound. The rooms are spacious enough as are the beds and each room has it's own a/c controls to make it comfortable to your tastes. Norma and John really stepped out of their way and were happy to let us hang out hours after check out while we waited for a bad storm to bypass us on our way home. She kept wanting to send us away with food just like your grandma wants to! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for something more interesting than the usual hotel/motel/Holiday Inn!

I recently spent a night here with my sister and brother-in-law (May 2022). I had wanted to offer…read morethem an amazing New Harmony experience, like one I had had several years ago in a different B&B that has since closed. The owners of that one recommended AC Thomas House. It is indeed a beautiful property, from the spacious veranda and lovely, historically appointed rooms to the perfect downtown New Harmony location. But upon arrival, we learned that it is up for sale. The current owners were nowhere to be found - apparently one is ill and the other is engaged in other projects now. The owners left everything in the hands of one very part-time staff person (you have to call this person if you need anything - there's no one on site). Even under these conditions, with just minimal attention, our stay could have been much improved. For example, they could have put water bottles, tissues, and soap in the rooms (all of these staples were lacking). The breakfast was a big disappointment. The staff asked us in an email what we wanted for breakfast but then did not come through for two of the three people in our party. Minimally, real half-and-half for coffee is essential for any place offering breakfast (they had bought that horrible creamer at the Dollar Store even though we had indicated in the email that we would appreciate half & half). And a box of nice black tea is another essential for a place like this that was lacking. Again, the breakfast issue can be remedied easily enough. The staff person was very nice, and was helpful to the degree possible, but perhaps isn't being given the resources or direction to do these things? Also, there was a baby shower there the day we arrived, and some of that wasn't cleaned up, leaving traces (stray napkins, cups, decorations) in the common areas for the next 24 hours. That, too, can easily be remedied. The larger issue, which hopefully the new owners (when there are some) will attend to is the plumbing. Neither the toilet nor the shower in the Duchess Kate room worked (fortunately the staff person gave us keys to the adjoining room, empty that night, or we would not have had even a working toilet). The showers in all of our rooms need to be brought up to contemporary standards. Hopefully the new owners (when there are some) can remedy these issues and bring this place back to 5 stars, which it richly deserves, but right now, sadly, it is not. Also, not having an inn keeper (or even a more permanent staff person) onsite made it feel more like an airbnb than a Bed & Breakfast. Part of the pleasure of a stay in a place like this is being able to converse with the owners (which I was able to do in the previous place I had stayed).  I'm very disappointed as I had wanted to offer my guests a special weekend. It was still great being in New Harmony, and this place has all the potential to be amazing, and aesthetically it's an absolute treasure - but right now, sadly, I cannot recommend it. The current owners need to step up their game here or stop renting rooms.

I ditched the rent-a-car and walked along the Ohio River through a park on the way to my gig. The park where they hold the WC Handy Blues festival - hope to get back there for that one day! Coy (the owner) was very accomodating. Breakfast was always very good, downstairs in the dining room. Quiet, spacious, with a full kitchenette. Wifi worked well. Price is competitive to mid-priced hotels, which you would have to drive 20-30 mins to Evansville for. Hope to go back with my wife sometime.

The owners, Norris and Mary Elizabeth Priest, are so nice and wonderful, you want to give them a hug. They live next door, so if you're the only ones staying in the B&B like we were, you have the house to yourself. Inside it's like your grandparent's house, with knick knacks and historic pictures of Kentucky. Apparently there was a railroad and bridge nearby. The house also has Wifi so it's not completely outdated. They make you breakfast in the morning, and you can even see hummingbirds buzzing next to the window. Mary Elizabeth told me sometimes they'll eat pieces of fruit if you offer it to them, though they seemed a little shy this time. Nice little quaint place! If you're ever in the area.
