I had never booked a photo shoot before and did a lot of research on Boston-area portrait photographers before finally reaching out to Erica. A lot of photographers I researched either did not seem to maintain their websites (making me wonder how on the ball they were - or, how interested in their work?) and/or evinced little interest in having a conversation with potential customers about customizing a shoot to their needs. Coming upon Erica's website was, honestly, a breath of fresh air. She gives an excellent sampling of her past work - and, needless to say, I really liked her aesthetic. I also really appreciated the wealth of information that she gave about her approach and how her voice really shone through, giving me a sense of her personality and what it might be like working with her. The way she wrote made me think we could have a great dialogue about what I was looking to accomplish. I was not disappointed. It took us a couple of weeks to connect because Erica was traveling, but once she was back in Boston, things progressed rapidly. I was coming to her for work-related photos, but had some fairly unusual requests in terms of my "shoot list." I also had pretty specific needs licensing and access-wise. She was open to discussing everything and was extremely accommodating and patient with all of my requests and special requirements. I breathed a sigh of relief. In the immediate run-up to the shoot, I received all sorts of guidance via e-mail from Erica about what to bring, how to dress, how best to prepare - some things I would never have thought of but, as an inveterate planner and list-maker, really appreciated - from scheduling a manicure, to making a Spotify playlist. We also had a really great text message exchange a day or two before about props I might bring - again, super helpful! Since I had never been the subject of a photo shoot like this before, I was a little nervous going in, but all worry quickly evaporated. Erica is that perfect combination of chill and professional - making you feel relaxed and comfortable but, at the same time, totally on the ball and thorough. I particularly appreciated that she gave me clear directions as to what to do/how to move/pose - but also that she made the whole experience a fun one! Now for the really important part: the photos themselves. I could not be happier. I have just been looking through the results of the shoot and am amazed at the breadth of what we managed to accomplish in the time we had, hitting all of the "must haves" on my list - and more! I was really hoping to achieve a natural look and Erica did exactly that - but somehow, at the same time, managed to make me look awfully glamorous. Needless to say, getting photos that make you feel like a movie star in the middle of the week is always a good thing. Oh, and when your mom takes a look at the photos and says, "they're terrific" - well, you know you chose the right photographer. About a month ago I got my first set of headshots taken by Erica. without a single idea what to expect. To say I was nervous is an understatement. About a year ago I went to go get my headshots done. The whole experience was fun, she created an atmosphere that helped me relax and make the whole photoshoot flow easy.
