I called the number listed for the Silver Spring location and the woman immediately found me a appointment at the Chevy Chase location.... Which was extremely strange. I was already nervous about the appointment, but this interaction had me even more worried. Turns out they use a call center! I had a little bit of trouble finding the office, but it is in the lower level of the building. I was greeted by a SUPER friendly receptionist who was patient and didn't rush me through filling out the initial paperwork. My appointment was with Dr. Singa. He immediately could tell how nervous I was and made an appoint to easy my nerves. He answered all of my questions and explain to me what was happening in layman terms. He seemed genuinely concerned about how I was feeling. I was especially nervous about having a male doctor, but I cannot explain how at ease I felt at the end of the appointment. He walked me to the receptionist to check out and made sure I had an email to contact him at if I had any questions. I told Maria at reception about the horrible experience of making the appointment and she gave me an email to contact the Chevy chase location directly. I would have taken a star off for the call center but that just wouldn't be fair to the Chevy Chade location.

I was in between gastros, and getting pretty hopeless. The ER doc told me if he had to see a gastro, dr Gupta is who hed want. Called the next day and was seen by the end of the week. Right away I felt comfortable. He and a partner work out of a house on old Georgetown. It's not fancy, but you don't feel like you're care is being assembled in a factory! He himself escorted me to his office where we TALKED for 45 minutes. He wanted to know everything, and was nonjudgmental and receptive to opinions and anecdotes. I actually felt like a human collaborator to my treatment!!!! He was very kind. I go in for a colonoscopy tomorrow and am cheered by his use of modern prep methods (seems like if a doctor is willing to try the latest colon prep, he'd probably be willing to try the latest crohns meds!).

I have been trying to get in touch with him since Nov 2020 (exactly 3 years) and so far I have only been able to get connected to the office twice. I give up. Plenty of other qualified doctors in the area. There's no way he is this bad at maintaining a competent office staff and phone line department in 2023. A pigeon would have successfully arrived in 3 years with my request but not his office staff. Sidenote, I referred him to my husband who got through to his office on the first attempt (miracle) and scheduled a tele-appointment in 2021. We waited for 30 mins for him to get on the line just to find out that the office never informed us that he had decided to cancel appointments and go on a vacation. However I needed to review my work schedule which is often changing to find a day which was suitable and would fit in Dr.Francis' operation schedule. Little did I know that I would be at the mercy of the ONE procedure scheduler that the office uses, who is so busy dealing with the phone traffic that they cannot reliably answer the phone. When I asked if there was another way I could schedule the procedure, in person or by some kind of email or patient portal , I was left a very rude message saying that I was sending the scheduler to my voicemail when I was in the middle of various processes at work and had called more than 10 times during the week at different times to try to catch them to schedule the procedure. Not only this but the front desk also had the same track record for answering the phone, as in they never answer. Guess i was lucky to get my initial appointment over the phone in the first place. Will not be returning, heading to another Gastro that actually has adequately and functioning staff. Gastro Health did not follow up. And they still have to submit form to get clearance. Expecting a call back from Gastro health, which never happened. Called back and left messages. The first time the office ever called me back from original appointment in October is in January. 3 MONTHS. It was a MESSAGE to schedule the colonoscopy. Tried to call but NO ANSWER, still don't have an appointment. I had a colonoscopy, 3 years ago and was to have another in 2 years. They told me they would call to set up an appointment. NO CALL.
