Eric White is excellent. I manage a breeding/training barn, and work extensively wtih all the support staff, including farriers. Eric is in high demand for his superb farrier skills.
He does not shoe to the owner. He shoes to the horse's confirmaion, hoof, and sport, giving them the best possible support to do their jobs. You won't find a better foot than one Eric leaves on the horse.
All of our vets like both his work and to consult with him. They discuss xrays, shoeing options, and all work toward a common goal. He also works well with other farriers, and seeks to further his skills by asking questions and sharing information freely. I find him to be the best sort of team player.
I trust him with our greenest babies who are just learning how to be shod. I trust him with our elderly pensioners who perhaps can't hold an arthritic leg up as long as they once could. He judges where each horse is and adjusts his approach accordingly. I've never seen him rush an old horse or over load a baby. His corrections have been appropriate, and rarely needed.
The last reviewer is correct: it's not the farrier's job to train a horse to stand still and be safe to work with. We strive to do that before the farrier gets here. However, I find Eric to be a wonderful addition to our training. He has an excellent sense of when and how much is appropriate in correcting a misbehaving horse, and when to finesse a horse that is confused or frightened.
