I went to Dr. ROBBINS with my boyfriend of 12 yrs. He was incredibly partial to my boyfriend. At…read morefirst I was unaware of this, but then I left him a phone message. He got back to me and after maybe 60 seconds blurted out "he didn't want to spend anymore time on the phone". I was shaken by his rude demeanour. I said "I want a therapist who really cares". This was in a private phone conversation, but was bought up during our next session by Dr.Robbins! I immediately asked that it remain private. Because my boyfriend is mentally abusive, and uses things against me. In spite of my protests he continued. He did apolize if he was rude. But it didn't seem that sincere to me. I then bought up his fees, as we are very low income. He accepted my boyfriend's Medicare, plus charges us 35 per visit once a week. Not a bad deal, but he is making about 150.00 for 45 minutes. His normal fee is 200...not worth it. At that point my boyfriend balked at me, the good doctor told me to leave! He threw me out of his practice. I left in shock! My boyfriend played back a session he taped last week. Dr.Robbins was saying I "didn't want to change, or work on my part" or something close to that. I saw him Four times, he never told me that, and it isn't true. He is now only seeing my boyfriend, probably encouraging him to leave, and not dealing with his (my boyfriend's) extreme mental abuse, which I begged Dr.Robbins to address. No I do not think he is fair or capable of helping. I was not rude to him, nor did o raise my voice. I was flustered, and irritated. I didn't get a chance to finish my sentence when mentioning his fees. I was going to ask him if he would not change us extra above Medicare cause we can't afford it. He would still get about 120.00 from Medicare, not bad for 45 minutes. I think he is sexist and partial to men.
