We just got back from Dr. Bentolila's office and are very dissatisfied with the way things went. Would recommend caution if you choose this doctor. My wife is pregnant with triplets and Dr. Bentolila came highly recommended; our first few visits with him were great, he had a pleasant personality and was very reassuring to my wife, who was nervous about carrying a high-risk pregnancy. Since that time, we've had a number of troubling interactions with Dr. Bentolila: -Today (the reason for my writing of this review), we informed Dr. Bentolila that we were moving to be closer to family who can help us with the pregnancy and with child care, etc. once the babies arrive. Related to this news is the fact that we'll need to see a new doctor. As soon as he heard this, the tone of our visit changed and we were rushed out of the office in a very unprofessional manner -My wife needed some disability paperwork filled out for her job and he refused to fill it out with his prior recommendation that she stop work at 18 weeks, insisting that it was only a suggestion. My wife is a physical therapist who routinely lifts patients and he has advised her to be careful lifting household items, let alone a patient. It was clear to us that the change was related to the news that we were changing doctors; at this point my wife has begun her disability term, but it is now unclear whether she'll receive a disability benefit despite his previous recommendation that she stop work at 18 weeks -There are posters in every examination room proclaiming the fact that Dr. Bentolila doesn't want anyone to feel rushed, or leave dissatisfied, but when we asked to speak to him prior to our departure (I cited the poster), he refused to come out and told me via the receptionist that I should make use of the cell phone number. It seems that Dr. Bentolila is a coward who would rather hide behind a cell phone than speak to the patient directly. I was so impressed with this poster when I first saw it that I felt compelled to take a picture of it. I wish I could post that picture here, as our experience today was in direct contrast to the poster. -Dr. Bentolila's electronic record keeping system appears to be a good thing, but for the last few visits he has asked basic questions such as whether or not this is my wife's first pregnancy; it seems that either there are no notes in the system regarding my wife, or they were reluctant to share notes, lest we see his prior recommendation that she stop work at 18 weeks. Also, we were requesting records to be transferred to the new doctor and all we got was information that was provided to Dr. Bentolila by other offices, not his notes -Last week, we went to see him at his insistence for an emergency visit regarding sinus and chest pain my wife was experiencing; when we came into the office, he didn't know why we were there, and essentially dismissed the pain that he called her in to see. The visit was no different than the phone call the previous day, except that in person he seemed confused as to why we were there, and not concerned regarding the reason for the visit -Because this is a high risk pregnancy, my wife is also seeing a high-risk specialist; there appears to be little coordination between Dr. Bentolila and the other doctor, with my wife often acting as the go-between to resolve conflicting advice between the two While I'd like to believe that Dr. Bentolila is a qualified doctor based on the recommendations we received prior to going to his practice, his recent treatment of my wife has left much to be desired, and has left a bad taste in our mouths regarding his professionalism. I'd urge you to be cautious if you're considering him as your doctor. P.S. Dr Bentolila is an attentive, responsible and caring doctor. He went through every medication I take, asked me the appropriate questions, and actively listened to what I said, using eye contact and confirming that he understood my needs and concerns and we were on the same page. I just confirmed I am able to get in touch with him as needed. I wasn't made to feel like a annoyance, like so many doctors do. My needs were important. I am beyond thrilled. He responded promptly and personally took care of what I needed! I am so grateful to have this support during my first pregnancy. This is after office hours. I also would like to say his staff has been great. Karen is incredibly warm, and "present". She just has said all the right things to me and has truly made me feel cared for. I needed a letter and staff followed through. Heidi, the ultrasound tech, has over 35 years experience. She is accurate and quick without rushing. She just knows what she is doing! My wife who is physically disabled went to see Dr. Bentolila in 2006 when she became pregnant. This was right after our gestational surrogate had a miscarriage and my wife decided to attempt carrying the baby herself. From the moment he saw her, he made her feel at ease. His compassion and professionalism were outstanding! Everything throughout the pregnancy was explained and taken care of promptly. We were thrilled to have found him and this was after seeing another high risk doctor from another Ridgewood practice first. We were happy that 14 months after giving birth to our daughter, he delivered our son as well. Would highly recommend Dr. Bentolila! read more

I did not feel well cared for by Dr. Bentolilia during my pregnancy. Every time I went into his office, he was focused on his computer, rarely making eye contact. What he was focused on couldn't have been my chart, because he routinely forgot concerns I had, questions I asked, or the complications I had experienced in my previous pregnancies. He offered little more than "it's fine!" in response to my complaints and worries. He ordered extra tests and ultrasounds based on a health condition that I know - from previous pregnancies - does not necessitate them, making me feel like a cash cow. He scheduled a vacation during my due date and did a membrane sweep without my consent the week before he left. Thankfully, he did not deliver my baby - but he did call a week after birth to try to sell me some type of pelvic floor electrical stim. All ended well, but I deeply regret staying with him for the duration of my pregnancy. As an expectant mother, you and your baby deserve more. read more

I believe he is a scam artist. He pushed several unnecessary medical procedures on me and even after I refused to get them done, he kept pushing. I have a background in medical research and, therefore, I (also) know what I'm talking about along with the needs of my body which he did not discuss. He padded my bill with thousands in charges for a basic gynecological checkup including a completely unneeded (confirmed by the office afterwards) ultrasound. I asked why they were doing an ultrasound as there was no need for one. I was told it was "routine" procedure. This is not routine procedure. It is done for the doctor to make money. There are signs posted all over the office with the doctor's cell phone saying if there is any problem to call him directly. This is merely for show as the office would only direct my call to a third party, which is not logical. He also made a snide remark about some small scars on my body asking what was wrong with me, which I didn't exactly appreciate. Update: I am still waiting after several weeks for pressing test results. There has been no feedback from the doctor's office even though I've been charged accordingly. read more

Don't go to this dr! He put my life is serious danger. Not only did he not give me the results of my d&c until after 2 months passed, they were not healthy ones either. I was told if I didn't get a call, I was fine to proceed with normal life. Well, the results were found to be a molar pregnancy and i should have been monitored for it from the week following my d&c. Later, I realized he also has a malpractice case against him. The guy was so overworked and tired looking every time I went in there. It was quite scared. read more

This is our first pregnancy and I would rather deliver this baby on my own than ever see Dr. Bentolila or his office again. It has been a comedy of errors without the humor. My blood was drawn using expired materials and the lab called me directly because the office entered the information on my blood incorrectly and they had no idea who's patient I was. The dr's office found out and never contacted me to have the bloods redrawn - I HAD TO CALL THEM. When I went in to have blood redone - they were not apologetic at all about the inconvenience and headache. The results came in and some levels were off. I called Dr. B about 3 times to have some explination and each time he refused to speak to me. I even tried the notorious cell phone only to leave a message and never get a call back. I was left using Dr. Google to determine my results. A random nurse in his office referred me to a specialist. A NURSE! My quad screen came back and no one called me. I again had to reach out. Of course I'm changing OB's since I cannot be bothered to deal with an office that uses anything expired, who is rude to patients and an OB who won't even speak to his patients. I've tried three times to get my medical records and it's a joke. My husband even went over in person and all they gave him was a sheet with a few of the blood results, not even the full panel. I will be contacting the DOH about the use of expired materials and can only recommend that you find anyone else besides Dr. Bentolila. read more

I would give him zero stars if Yelp allowed. My experience was nothing short of horrific. When things are good his bedside manner is wonderful although when a problem arises he either turns nasty or invisible. I believe "Dr" bentolila gave me an unnecessary c section because of pure laziness. He saw my birth was taking a long time and chose the easy route for him instead...what he didn't account for was the complications I had ( according to other doctors were his fault). He presumably nicked a blood vessel during my c section causing me an array of problems and months in and out of the hospital...not to mention the horrific pain I went through. All the while in the hospital, he kept making me out to be a hypocondriac...somehow when my blood levels dropped so low I couldn't breathe, he showed up and at the point started to believe me once i needed a transfusion...all of a sudden I wasn't such a hypocondriac. As it turns out, I had a massive hematoma and was bleeding internally. I transferred out of the hospital- best decision. I still laugh that he sent some lady who worked in the hospital with some essential oils and meditation music....he was so convinced I was making up my pain. One of my biggest regrets in life was to use him as a doctor and because of him I was subsequently high risk for the rest of my children. So my advice to you is stay FAR far away.... read more

Dr. B saw our family through 2 very difficult labor and deliveries. He was an amazing and caring doctor and worked beautifully with our doula. We love him dearly and his office staff, nurses and ultrasound tech are all warm but capable professional. I've recommended him to countless families and will continue to do so. read more

I've seeing doctor Bentolila 10 years ago, i was always satisfied with his approach, and professionalism. in meantime I moved back to europe, came back over, and had different doctor for a while because of the insurance. but was nothing close to Dr. Bentolila. I got pregnant and thankfully got new insurance through my husband's job, so I switched right to Dr.Eric B. and couldn't do better. He is very sweet and always willing to answer any questions. I would never change for any other gynecologist. it is very important to have a doctor who has a good knowledge in the field. read more

AMAZING! (weird to hear that word when describing your gyno right?) Dr. Bentolila has such a great bedside manner and is overall, a wonderful Dr. He delivered my nephew and my youngest Son and was terrific in the delivery room. He makes you feel so comfortable and at ease with his calm demeanor. I had so many complications before the pregnancy that I practically lived in his office. I got to know hsi staff and they are SO friendly and accomodating. It can be a busy practice at times so you may have to wait for your appointment (especially if he has to run out to deliver a baby at nearby Vally Hospital) but he is worth the wait or just a reschedule if your visit is routine. I reccomend Dr. Bentolila to everyone I know and several of my friends are now patients, and travel to go see him! read more

I only have the best things to say about Dr. Bentolila. When I was pregnant he put me at ease and was there for me every step of the way. He added his personal touch and gave me the freedom to call his cell at any time I felt the need to discuss any issues. His patience is endless. At my delivery he showed compassion and professionalism and made me feel I was in great hands. His staff was courteous and likable. I will recommend him to everyone! read more
