They did a horrible job. They damaged my pool. The planter is not level. They didn't properly seal the pavers. It was a 5 week nightmare.

Had to stop our rating because of how the pavers have held up. We were super delighted when they went in, but over a few years, several problems. #1 sink areas developed that we had to have redone. #2 We kept smelling something funky in the yard, and when we had some plumbing work done, a gas leak was discovered. Equity was responsible for running that gas line from the outlet to the gas fire place, and the attachment point had the wrong hardware and the line was pinched. It cost us several thousand dollars for emergency services, gas shut down, and repair services. Erasamo would not cover the costs of the repairs that were necessary. Also, while his crew was here, they dinged one of our cars and denied that they had done it, even though the paint matched their truck. So we were out a bunch for repairs to the backyard and our car The good news is that the gas fireplace finally works. read more

I got a new concrete apron and a driveway made of pavers. Erasmo is great to work with. Pricing beat everybody I talked to. He is a little difficult to get a hold of, but once you do, he is on top of things. His guys did quality work, paid attention to the little details (which I find so important), showed up when they said they would, and completed the jobs in a timely manner. If you are searching on Yelp, I wouldn't go with anybody else. Why take a chance? Equity Pavers does quality work for a fair price. I called Equity Pavers because of the good reviews and made an appointment with Erasmo, but he called to cancel exactly at the time he was to come. I made another appointment and he did show up to look at my driveway and back patio. He measured and we had a nice chat. He mentioned his great reviews and said it would be sometime in August before he could do the job, but that was ok with me. Days went by and I never received a quote. I had interviewed two other paving contractors before I contacted Equity Pavers / Erasmo. I was concerned about drainage and the flow of water away from the house and away from the retaining walls. I have clay soils so my house is always shifting after the rains. The solution of the two other contractors was simple sloping. Erasmo suggested a drain pipe as well as sloping to direct the water away from both the house & retaining walls and off the property. I felt he listened to my concerns and had the best solutions and recommendations for my property. I had one other estimate and then decided to go with Erasmo. His quote was very reasonable and within my budget though I didn't tell him my budget. Along with the pavers he built me a planter to hide a hideous cracked cinder block wall that had oozing cement on my side, added some more cinder block to a wall that wasn't all the same height and built a redwood fence. I highly recommend the look of the pavers with a sealer applied. They did a great job and Erasmo was there everyday with his crew so I felt comfortable going to work after the morning meeting. I have learned so much from this experience. Biggest lesson: installing pavers is not a DIY job! It took the Equity Pavers crew 11 days of hard work to do this job. It is painstaking to do it right. My backyard remodel consisted of raising the lower part of my patio to come even with the upper part, building 2 sets of steps, installing stone veneer on a wall, and building a column around 2 posts holding up my pergola. It's a 500 square foot yard. I attached pictures to my review. I initially met with Kurt, one of the owners, who gave me an estimate within a few days of his visit. Not pushy at all. I was actually pleasantly surprised by his quote--very competitive. I decided to go with Equity Pavers based on the price, Erasmo's experience(more on him in a minute), and because they were pleasant to work with. The only negative I can say is that the project started one month later than initially scheduled. To be fair, they don't give a specific starting date. It's impossible. Things come up on projects that cause delays, so I understood. Just keep in mind that most of these pavers installation companies are very busy, so you can expect a 1-2 month wait from the time they agree to do your installation to the time they start working. Erasmo is the other owner of the company and he also installs the pavers. On any given day, there are between 2 and 6 workers at the house, depending on what they're working on that particular day. All the workers were well-behaved, clean, and hard-working. Speaking of hard-working, the crew starts very early, as early as 7am. And pavers installation can be noisy. There's the breaking of the concrete, compacting the pavers, cutting the pavers with a saw. Luckily my neighbors didn't complain. I did warn them ahead of time it might be noisy early in the morning. But if you have pain in the a** neighbors, you may want to ask the crew to start working later if possible. They even worked both Saturday and Sunday. I'm telling you, they worked hard. When I told my Sicilian dad how early they start, he said "that's how you know when a crew is a good. If they say they're going to start at 7, but they show up at 10--fire them. They're no good. When a crew starts early in the morning, you know they're going to do a good job." The final product came out great. Pavers installation isn't a perfect process. It's done by humans. They're laying down hundreds of individual stones. It takes a lot of patience to get them all perfectly in line with each other and perfectly level with each other. I would check on their work daily and I did notice some errors from time to time. I would take a picture and send it to Erasmo with what I thought was wrong. He didn't argue. He simply took care of it the next day. Very easy-going guy to work with. Equity Pavers was also easy-going with the payments. I actually had to remind them "hey, shouldn't I pay you some money right now? You guys have been working for 2 days already." I paid them once in the beginning, once about halfway done, and the final payment upon completion. I also got an estimate from System Pavers. The System Pavers quote was 3x what I paid with Equity Pavers. But with Equity Pavers I got MORE done. The System Pavers quote didn't include the stone veneer for the wall, nor did it include the 2 columns, and it was for a less expensive paver. Most manufacturers of pavers guarantee their pavers for life. So if a paver cracks, Belgard(the brand I went with) should replace the paver for free. And Kurt says that as long as I own the home, the workmanship is under warranty. The project was just completed a few days ago. The real test will be when it starts to rain. How will the pavers hold up? But I assume they will stay in place because the crew took their time in making sure things were done right. Erasmo is at the job site every day, and he makes sure that things are done right. I would definitely recommend Equity Pavers. Book them in advance because like I said, it could be a couple months before they can start. For anyone interested, I went with the Belgard Lafitt Grana Slab pavers, a 50/50 mix of Bella and Toscana colors. Just a little tip: these guys work all day in the hot sun. I asked them if they wanted a beer and they said they don't drink on the job. But they do love water! If you can, set up an ice chest full of water bottles in the morning. They'd really appreciate that. read more

My husband and I hired them a few years ago to completely paver our back yard and driveway. Erasmo was the first person that got back to me when I contacted a slue of contractors on Yelp and home advisor to come quote our backyard. He was on time when we set an appointment to get a quote and was very professional and creative. These things are important to me, because you want to work with someone that values your time. He wasn't the cheapest quote but we felt right about going with equity pavers. My husband and I work a lot so we weren't around much, he was fine with my preference to text as opposed to phone calls all the time and most mornings they would arrive early and we would go over what they had planned for the day. We have a massive backyard, that had a crappy concrete slab, a fireplace that was an eye sore and a ton of grass. We were hesitant about starting something because our backyard is huge, but had been saving up to make it nice for entertaining. We had a rough sketch that we gave to him, he had lots of ideas and I can happily say everything is amazing! His crew was friendly and professional, the poor guys worked through the hottest weeks in June. We had one area that we weren't completely satisfied with and they redid it no problem. I had an existing paver walkway that I needed to have enlarged and extended past my gate to connect to my driveway. For too long it had been difficult to roll my trash cans out to the street or even walk past my gate because the sprinkler system left the dirt in that area a muddy mess. I had contacted several other companies and the job was either too small or the charge was a lot more than what Equity Pavers quoted. It was a pleasure working with Erasmo. He listened to what I needed and he and his crew delivered quality work at a reasonable price. I had to go out of town before the work was completed and when I came back everything was finished to my satisfaction. He worked with my Association's landscapers to ensure the sprinkler system provided water for the grass on the opposite side of the walkway and was kind enough to offer to fix a small section of pavers that were sinking in another part of my patio that wasn't part of the original job. With my son's high school graduation just a couple of weeks away I needed help and I needed it fast. We have a small backyard; however, there are some tricky areas that had been one of the main reasons for us putting off this project so far. I decided to take the plunge and go with the recommendations from fellow yelpers and called up Equity Pavers for our backyard project. My wife and I had a pretty good idea of the layout and we were pleased when Erasmo showed up for our appointment as scheduled. He listened to our plans and was confident that he could deliver on our ideas. He even gave us good suggestions on some finer details of the project without any up-selling. The whole job consisted of demolition, debris removal, re-routing of sprinklers, grading, paving of bricks, and the addition of some low voltage lights. I approached a total of 5 contractors to provide estimates on a hardscape remodel at my home's backyard. The job consisted of re-grading of our backyard, installation of a new drainage system (french drains, catch basins, connection to house downspouts, and an underground drain line to the street), as well as ~825 sf of blended color pavers. I was a bit apprehensive about only going off Yelp reviews in the case of Equity Pavers, but am in hindsight happy about ending up choosing them based on both professionalism and budget. I am a design consultant in construction and have a good amount of experience with contractors, so I was not going to be easily impressed. However, I ended up being impressed! Erasmo, Kurt, and the crew were completely committed to the job and in making sure I was happy. Even when there was a small hick-up (I blame myself for not communicating better what I was looking for at a small area at the front), their response was immediate. Also, Erasmo had great suggestions for the drainage scheme that ended up improving the project. Bottom line is that I have no reservation in engaging Equity Pavers for my future projects (they also do retaining walls, concrete slabs, etc.) or recommending them - hence my review. Erasmo and Equity Pavers came highly recommended from a former employee of theirs. We had a complicated job on the side of our house. The existing concrete had to be broken out and a new drain system with sump pump installed, then new pavers installed. On top of that we had a boat dock landing that needed to be raised about a foot which involved breaking out the existing concrete steps and welding a new bracket for the landing. Erasmo found a welder for us to do that portion of the work. The location was very tight and was only eighteen inches wide at the narrowest. They also poured new concrete steps for the boat dock. The main concern was leaking from the sea wall during the king high tides. I am happy to report the fix worked and there was no leakage from the area of concern. The drain system worked well to manage the water flow from other areas. The installation of the pavers was beautiful with miter cuts and paver placement. They did all this work in four days at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend Erasmo and his crew at Equity Pavers! read more
