We had a great experience celebrating our daughter's birthday at this amazing place. The communication was great in planning, they were accommodating as our needs changed. Upon arrival, the space and structure of the event was well set up. The employees guided riders based on experience level and allowed space for the more advanced kids to steer and trot and then beginners had their experience career to them as well. We started at Equine Unlimited almost 2 years ago. My daughter, who is now just shy of 13, has excelled at Equine Unlimited and is currently half leasing a beautiful horse and showing locally. Malinda and Christina are the best of the best when it comes to lessons and coaching and Beverly does an amazing job of managing the busy barn schedule. All the horses are extremely well cared for and come first. We have met some amazing young riders and families and consider the barn our second home! Malinda Kregoski is an amazing trainer. She clearly loves horses and helping kids grow with their riding. We have been riding here for many years and her devotion to helping everyone be their best is clear in how she instructs each child in their lessons. It is a great place for someone just getting on a horse for a first time all the way up to advanced riders. The relaxed family friendly atmosphere is excellent if you have other kids with you during riding lessons (swing, sandbox, etc, available while you are there). Super fun camps and parties for horse crazy kids, too. We highly recommend this facility and are grateful for everything Malinda and her assistant trainers have done to help our girls grow. My oldest is now winning her jumper classes in shows and is loving every minute. This wouldn't have happened without Malinda's excellent but gentle instruction. My daughter loves coming here! She had never ridden a horse before coming here. The first time she was comfortable and loved the entire experience, thanks to the trainer. My daughter attended lessons here a year and a half ago, life got in the way so she stopped with lessons remaining, now that she's a little older and interested again I asked if she could resume her lessons we had paid for a year and a half ago, the owner said yes no problem! I sent the owner a text and she responded within ten minutes, which has always been the case when I contacted her before so I'm not sure why people said it was hard to get ahold of someone. Please lower your expectations if you plan to come here for the first time. My kids were super excited to try out a horseback riding lesson and I was happy to find a local place so close to home at a nearby farm. With that, my mom decided to gift both of my boys their first lesson for Christmas, so we eventually scheduled something online that worked for everyone's schedules, and thought we might be all set with a new hobby. However, when we first arrived on the day of the lesson, no one greeted us upon arrival, which felt like they were not wanting to welcome any newcomers. Then they didn't ever ask my kids their names, just set them up on a couple of horses and went into the arena to circle around the best they could without any actual guidance. Melinda (I assume that's who she was because she seemed to be in charge of the place but never actually introduced herself to us) didn't seem to know how to effectively communicate with any of the kids in the group lesson that day, most of whom appeared quiet and confused, not to mention frustrated. When my son actually spoke up to tell her the horse wasn't doing what he wanted it to (meaning he didn't know how to handle it, which should have been obvious), she abruptly ended his lesson by telling him to get down and leave the arena with his horse in tow "due to safety reasons". I decided she must have thought he was just being stubborn since he sounded so frustrated, thinking she would come chat with us after the lesson to figure out what was going on and to ask if he was ok since he started crying after that, but nope.. she completely disappeared after the other kids brought their horses out, too. Finally, we had to track someone down just to figure out how to pay after the lesson so we could leave.. totally absurd! The whole experience was awkward, uncomfortable, unprofessional, and super disappointing for my kids (and us)I I would never return here and have no idea how this place has any business with the way they treat people. We actually own a small business in the area as well and my husband commented that he would never have any repeat customers if he acted that way. Maybe it was an off day for them since most other reviews are pretty good here, but i highly doubt that.. Best of luck to all for a better experience than what we had! read more

Man! What a hard one...one star, two stars or three? I'm gonna say 2, yet I haven't experienced anything better in terms of horse lessons, but it's not a one or a three. My kid has always loved horses, particularly Dressage. Looking on Google, not Yelp (my bad), I came across this place. I thought that Rescue would be a little far, however, we thought it would be fun. I called and reached Melinda (the owner) she was informative, professional and I booked an appointment. First experience- We arrived a little early and we were in awe of all of the acreage and the beautiful horses. I asked a gentleman who I checked in with and he pointed to a woman jumping her horse in an arena. I walked over and waited. We finally conversed and I told her that we had a lesson and she started talking about Groupon. "Groupon is for more than one child"... I replied "We aren't doing a Groupon, it's a private Dressage lesson with the owner." She had no idea what I was talking about and seemed rather confused. She did apologize and stated that she speaks to many people every day. I understood and it was no big deal, I thought a little unorganized, but hey, stuff happens. All in all, my child's first lesson went great. We re-booked for another appointment for the following week. 2nd Experience- We ran 10 mins late, we called and they were totally awesome about it. It went south after that, at least for me and my kid. Melinda had NO IDEA who we were, what she was teaching my kid, even though we saw her a week before. I don't expect to be palsy walsy, but for criminy sake, if you have trouble remembering things because youre overwhelmed, write a note in your schedule. The lesson was fine, but I just wasn't impressed with all of the commotion, disorganization and lack of the "paying attention to detail". Let's not forget that a private lesson is $65 per hour so 4 times a month is $260 and if my child fell in love with it, I would've made the commitment and do the drive. Don't get me wrong, Melinda is a very personable and knowledgeable trainer, just sort of all over the place. I am so dissapointed. But like a bad date, all things must come to an end. I will try and find something a little closer to home. read more

I've been riding here and taking lessons for nearly a year, and it's wonderful! As an adult coming back to riding, and brand new to English riding, I certainly was concerned with the quality of horses and instructors. Nothing to fear here though - all of the instructors are fabulous. Mostly I ride with Malinda, the owner. What I love about her is she REALLY knows how to teach. Some people know how to DO, some know how to TEACH, and Malinda is great at both. Christina, Natalie, and Chelsea are also great. Really know their stuff. As to the quality of horses: what is all the malarkey about unhealthy horses and lack of care in the other reviews? Craziness! These are very well taken care of animals. She has a range of horses and ponies for her students. The instructors are great about matching up students with the correct horses for their ability. Other reviews also mention organization. Right before I began riding here, they began doing online scheduling and they hired an assistant, Lisa, to organize parties and day-to-day operations. The online scheduling is great, and obviously it helps things to run smoothly. Lisa has also taken lots of the stress of running an ever growing business off of Malinda's shoulders so that she can focus more on her students and training clients. I really couldn't say anything bad about Equine Unlimited. I absolutely love it here! I think the reviewer Debra said it best, " A little piece of Heaven." read more

my children had a wonderful time during the summer camp sessions. What a wonderful exposure to horses for them. In addition, dogs to pet,and a sand box to play in for my younger child after camp. I agree that there was a lot of time/energy spent looking for correct size helmets for the kids to wear, Please buy some more and group them by size, to make getting started in the morning easier. regarding fruit loops etc in the morning, they provide breakfast to make sure everyone gets something, but I fed my child breakfast before they got to camp, then they could snack on something in addition, but they weren't really hungry at that point. I wasn't bothered by the age of the workers, they seemed very mature. I would say there was some down time/slow spots during day, could be tightened up a little bit, little more stuff planned to keep the kids busy. We are planning to do it again next year! read more

The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable about riding; the horse selection is also great; they are all really friendly. The facility is clean with plenty of shaded seating as well. My daughter just completed one week of Equine Camp here. She had a fabulous time. The only problems I had with this camp were and girls working were a little young and inexperienced in being around small kids. The food they served, lunch and snacks provided, were not nutritious. Frosted Flakes and Fruit Loops for cereal, Cheetos and Doritos for snack. Also, their helmets are a bit worn and they do not have enough small helmets for the ages of the kids that were attending this week. All in all, I think I would have her go back, but would provide the food and get there earlier to get the smallest helmet. read more

An Open Letter To Equine Unlimited, First, let me start by saying that I rarely give negative reviews. It's often hateful and counterproductive, and most of the time those receiving them will blow them off anyway. You, however, reached a level of unprofessionalism that I can't simply shrug off. Given my experience with your organization and the other negative reviews I've read about you, however, I doubt you'll take what I'm about to say and do anything productive with it. I purchased your Groupon back in February, when I had a little extra money from my tax return and wanted to do something new and fun with my fiance. A private lesson for two for $48 bucks sounded like a great deal. I decided to save it until July and treat myself to the lesson for my birthday. I emailed you on 7/7/11 to make reservations, then patiently waited for a response. When I STILL hadn't heard from you by 7/13/11, I called and left a voicemail. Three days later, at 9:00PM as we were putting our daughter to bed, I received a call from Melinda to finally schedule my lesson. We picked a time on my birthday, the 29th, and despite the lack of response and horribly late hour to return a business phone call, I was excited. Three minutes after we hung up, she called back....using the exact same opener she'd originally called me with. Confused, I informed her that we had just spoken and set up an appointment. Apparently she was calling from a list of call backs and had forgotten she had JUST called me. Scatterbrained isn't a crime, so I let it go. 36 hours before our lesson, I was hit with the news that I wouldn't be able to take the day off for my birthday (which had been approved well in advance) because the co-worker who was to cover my shift couldn't make it....her father died that morning. I INSTANTLY called Melinda to cancel our lesson and reschedule. Of course, she didn't answer. I left a message and waited for a call back. Again, she called back late at night and I missed the call. She informed me, with attitude and an unapologetic manner, that the Groupon required 48 hours cancellation, and that so many people have been trying to use the Groupon that she's lost so much money, blah blah blah. She offered to let me reschedule, but we would have to pay full price for one of the people attending the lesson. Again she reiterated how much the Groupon has cost her (like that's MY problem?!), and ended the conversation. Did you not realize, before deciding to offer a deep discount on a site known for, um, DEEP DISCOUNTS, that 1) you'd be giving DISCOUNTED lessons, and 2) yes, business would pick up. Things would get hectic. You'd have to adjust. For this woman to gripe to me about how much Groupon has cost her, and then not seem to care REMOTELY about rescheduling....talk about unprofessional and insensitive. The promotion ran in February....it's now August. If 6 months isn't enough time to adapt to a higher call volume/increased schedule, perhaps you might want to reconsider being in business at all. Maybe a simpler job is in order. I hear dog walking is swell. In this economy, people are struggling to afford little extras. Lord knows I am. How DARE you complain about a discount YOU decided to advertise, and then seemingly refuse to accomodate the folks who bought it??? I looked forward to this for months, it was a birthday treat to myself, and when my co-workers father passed I wasn't about to throw a fit and demand that my boss find someone else to cover my shift. I did the right thing, and worked that day. You, however, did NOT do the right thing. You knew full well that I'd already paid my 48 dollars back in February. You made that money already. I guess people like you don't care once you've got that almighty cash in your wallet. Suffice to say, I'm absolutely disgusted with your unprofessionalism and lack of decency. We live in a service-based society....if you want people to continue to use your service, they need to feel like they're receiving good service in return. I don't know how you interact with all your clients. You might be as sweet as pie. Maybe I caught you on a bad day. Who knows. But you left a bitter taste in my mouth, a 48 dollar hole in my pocket and a birthday gift that never happened. I hope you enjoy your 48 bucks. Use it to get yourself a better organizational system, so that when people email you, you actually respond to them....so that when they call, you don't wait until 9:00 PM to call them back....so that when they have a circumstance beyond their control, you pretend to give a damn and then work to accomodate them instead of guilting them because you're money-hungry. My husband and I were finally able to use our groupon for our horseback riding lesson. Heather was very accomodating in booking our appointment last minute and we were so fortunate to have Grace be our trainer. She is fabulous!!!!!!!! She clearly explained the information we needed to know, eased us on our horses, took us on a trail and toured the site; she was very knowledgeable! The best part was that she took pictures for us on my camera throughout the entire experience so now I have great memories to look back on. I have been taking lessons here for nearly three months and I have to say this place is a little piece of heaven. I have taken riding lessons on and off for years. However, this is the first time that I have found a teacher who knows how to teach. A lot of people think they can teach simply because they can ride and that is not the case. Malinda can tell from far away when I'm not breathing. She's truly gifted at her craft. I've wanted for so long to be a good rider and now I think I'm finally on my way. Apart from the above, the environment is beautiful, both aesthetically and socially. This is a place that you don't want to leave. The horses are beautiful, clean and well trained. Malinda only cares about money and making sure her clients don't know any better than to keep giving it to her. During the summer you schedule lessons and they can't find a horse because they are all being overworked. My daughter said that when she did get on the hound instructor said the horse was pretty angry and tired due to the work and they couldn't do a lot. I saw extreme hitting of the horses and every time I went down with my daughter to get her horse the water buckets were dirty and empty. Overall I hated the way the horses was treated and that it effected the way my daughter was riding. I will be looking for a new place for my daughter to ride. read more

Our Girl Scout troop had a great experience today and all the girls wanted to come back again! They were flexible in rescheduling because of rain and the girls not only got to ride a horse, but did a craft, fed the horses, and learned about the saddles and harnesses. We just finished 3 days of Kiddie Camp. I absolutely second what this yelper posted last year: "My daughter just completed one week of Equine Camp here. She had a fabulous time. One child (who was admittedly difficult to work with) was told to stand in the sun because he was talking too much. It was 90 degrees out! This is just one example. It was not a nurturing environment, and kids as young as 4 can be campers! My child- who is 5- held her urine for 3 hours because she didn't feel comfortable talking to the staff. :-( Lots of time spent on finding helmets and lots of focus on sitting and eating donuts. My child loved being with the horses, but I would not come back here. For nearly $300, I expected more organization and leadership, as well something nutritious to eat. read more

My daughter has been riding here off/on for 4 years, the setting is beautiful, the horses are well trained, the trainers are very knowledgeable and work well with clients. Malinda the owner is usually on site and is happy to answer any questions. Though expensive, she puts the money back into the tack, grounds (nice new bathrooms going up now) and care of horses and grounds. We have had to be flexible now and then with mixups with trainers, but nothing big that would keep us from Equine, and the mixups always worked out in the end. I appreciate the fact that the owner is a woman and successful all on her own. read more

The look of the place is super nice, no complaints there. Admin wise though it has been rough. In my experience, schedules mean very little. Knowing this I was sure to communicate with an email contact I had ahead of lessons for my kids just to literally double and triple check it would happen at the time it was schedule to (the scheduling they all do online via a 3rd party site). Even after this, the following day the schedule was a disaster with the trainer 2/3 of my kids were going to have on vacation. After agreeing to have lessons pushed back till later, I was then told they could not get one of them in (told this 2 hours later after having waited). Then, after I was persistent enough to get them to agree to honor the lessons, one trainer was really quite rude to one of my kids and made them dislike their lesson. Then, the same person flat out lied to me and ended up giving the lesson for my other kid to a person that doesn't even work there (at least they aren't listed as a trainer). In the end, that probably worked out better because at least that person was friendly. I was told that I would be contacted by someone to 'make up' for what had happened. Over a week now and now one has contacted. There is one trainer there by the name of Michelle who is actually extremely nice... good with the kids and did her best to make this situation better (skipped lunch etc). But, overall the lack of concern for time and the disappointment it causes a small kid to have lessons messed up is what has made me leave this review. read more

My 10 year old daughter just completed the one week 9-3 M-F summer camp. This was an exceptional camp and she can't wait to return next year. Not only did they get a lot of riding time, but they also received a lot of instruction about breeds, anatomy, care, horse shoes, tying knots...all kinds of stuff. The hot afternoons were spent in the pool and doing arts and crafts activities, and a hearty breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack were included. Staff were great too. read more

I first discovered Equine Unlimited 2 1/2 years ago when I was looking for an unforgettable birthday party option for my daughter. I was not disappointed - my daughter and all her guests had an amazing time! After the party, I enrolled my daughter in private riding lessons and was equally impressed. As a veterinarian, my primary evaluation of any equestrian facility is how they treat the horses. I am happy to say that Malinda and her associates take excellent care of all the horses (both physically and mentally). I worked and rode at several different barns when I was in college, and I can attest that this is not always the case. About 1 1/2 years ago, I decided to start riding again myself and have been taking lessons with Malinda. Malinda is an incredible trainer! Both my children and I have also taken lessons with Christina and were impressed with her as well. Whether you are a novice or an experienced equestrian, I highly recommend Equine Unlimited! My husband and I drive 45+ minutes to ride here! My husband used to ride years ago and before starting up again he checked out several stables - most of which were much closer to us. When he started taking lessons again I decided to take some too and couldn't be happier. We both take lessons with Christina who is amazing! She is very patient and is great at teaching to your skill level. Melinda always has something nice to say about our riding. I have also had a lesson with Melinda and she was awesome as well! The property is clean and well kept as are the horses. They have a great selection of lesson horses as well. My husband is over 6' tall and always has trouble finding horses tall enough, but not here. The instructors are wonderful at pairing riders up with the right horse for their skill level and the specific lesson. Also, we have not encountered anyone - employee or rider - that hasn't been super friendly. We could easily ride closer to home, but we LOVE it here and it is worth the drive! read more
