I went to the Carson City Senior Center on Friday, December 21, 2018. I went to inquire about Meals…read moreon Wheels service. I was in the area so I thought I would stop by. I was most impressed. There was sufficient parking nearby and the parking lot was well maintained. There is also a bus stop right there for Carson City JAC (Jump Around Carson bus service). The building was bright, clean, and full of lively, happy people, mostly senior citizens from the area. The receptionist was most helpful. You could tell she was the type who took her job seriously. She couldn't reach the person I needed to speak to, so she tried another person who might help me. No luck. I said I was in no rush and didn't mind waiting. I also mentioned I had no appointment, so I said I could make one or come back at another time, as I didn't want to be a burden. As I sat down to wait in the comfortable sitting area with couches, plush chairs, a coffee table, and a large window view of the front, I could see a long line of senior citizen queueing up in the cafeteria, waiting for the free lunch to start (it is free if you are age 60+ I believe, otherwise it costs around $6, but don't quote me on this). The room was decorated with many holiday decorations and a Christmas tree. I believe there is also free wifi, but, again, don't quote me on this. I enjoyed waiting, as the atmosphere was positive. Eventually, the receptionist reached the person, after trying a whole bunch of times in between, and I was told I could go into the back office to see the person. As I was walking through the dining room to get there, there was a flood from the kitchen/pantry that spilled into the hallway. The worker cleaning it up told me to go through the large meeting room next to it to avoid the water. As I went in there, another employee said no I had to go back through the hallway (she wasn't aware of the flood). I said I was told to go through here because of the flood. The employee checked with the other employee and agreed. Anyway, after this short diversion, I reached the person in charge of Meals on Wheels. After explaining my situation, she informed me that I was not eligible, since I was too young. She wanted to help me, but her hands were tied, as these were the governments regulations. I thanked her politely and left. As I walked out, I looked through the myriad of pamphlets on the wall about programs and services available to the public. The flood had been cleaned up, and as I passed through the dining hall, the line had ended and most people were happily eating and conversing at the communal tables. I could not help but be happy, even though what I requested was denied, due to the helpfulness of everyone involved and the cheerful atmosphere. This place is a like a safe harbor in a storm!

All of the horses are well fed and taken care of with grooms and stable hands around the property. They don't have an indoor arena but when the weather is bad or arena is too muddy, they haul in to other facilities. The hospitality makes up for that! The trainers and other riders are so friendly and ready to help you with your riding journey.

We brought LSF a very beloved, not fancy pony that we had come to the end of the road with and had been trying to sell for a year. We were scared of him and he was increasingly reactive. LSF spent an incredible amount of time rebuilding his and our confidence. Suffice to say, the pony is loved and a delight and we hope we get to keep him forever. LSF takes care of horses like you would yourself if you knew how, and they teach you along the way. They've also built a lovely community. The tween kids convinced us to start our kids, and it's been great to be at a place that helps build character, in addition to being thoughtful about safety. Also it's such a beautiful spot. Basically heaven on earth. Come, because it's wonderful. Don't come, because we want to save stall space for more horses for us :)

They are professional, love their horses and clients and are highly qualified. The only downside that I saw is that they have more clients than they can serve so there can be a very long waiting list. That's a shame because equine therapy is so very beneficial for many, many things. I love them and their current facility in Reno is incredibly beautiful!

Great fields, easy to miss entrance from highway 50…read more In fact, I really recommend turning left at Arrowhead where you have lights. Highway 50 is SO busy, and it's scary to turn north from eastbound traffic onto Centennial Park Drive. The park sign is really small and hard to spot on Highway 50. When you enter the park, softball fields 1,2 & 3 are on the left. Keep driving past Eagle Valley East golf course, the road will turn right and take you past the tennis courts and on to fields 4, 5, 6, and 7. The upper fields have bleachers, restrooms and snack bar. The entire park is clean and well maintained. It's a pleasure to watch games here. Plenty of head in parking available. I recommend parking in the upper portion and to the right - less chance of dings and broken glass from home run balls. All traffic is one way around the fields, returns to two way at tennis courts. No dogs or alcohol allowed, but snack bar serves beer.
