Carson Valley Swim Center - Outdoor Competition Pool

Carson Valley Swim Center

Carson Valley Swim Center is an absolutely fantastic facility--a perfect spot to bring your family…read moreon a hot summer day! The amenities inside are impressive: two water slides, a kiddie pool, two diving boards, a rock climbing wall over the water, and a competition pool. Outside, the setup is just as beautiful, featuring another competition pool and a large grassy area with several covered picnic spots. The lifeguards here are super friendly and excellent with little kids. One lifeguard at the rock wall even took the time to give my daughter and other kids tips on how to climb a bit higher. All of this comes at a very affordable price: $6 for kids and $7 for adults, which is an amazing deal for everything they offer. We visit the pool several times a year for our kids' swim meets. Our favorite events are the outdoor meets because the grassy area is perfect for setting up canopies and relaxing while cheering on the swimmers. Highly recommend Carson Valley Swim Center for families looking for fun, affordable, and well-maintained pool time!

There's numerous pools in our area and none come even relatively close to how great this pool is. The price is great, it's never that busy, the facility is always clean and the staff are always doing a great job.

It's a swimming pool and if I judge it based purely on that, it's fine and does the job. If all you…read morecare about is being able to jump in a pool on a hot day or swim laps for exercise (like me), you won't have an issue with it. If you care about safety and cleanliness, that's another story. In my younger days, I was a Lifeguard. I went through the months of training, CPR, physical exams, swim tests, life saving methods, etc. My point...I KNOW what Lifeguards should be doing and how they should conduct themselves. What I saw during my swim here was far from the standards I was trained with. For starters, aside from the Manager of the pool, the Lifeguards were all kids (to be fair, most are). Normally, that would be fine but the ones I observed the other day were not acting appropriately. I heard constant "F" bombs being dropped, they were staring at their phones, socializing with each other and their friends, etc. NO ONE was watching the water. Provided, it was adult swim hour, but all of the people in the pool (besides myself) were seniors. I'm confident that if something happened to one of them and they went under, none of them would've noticed until it was too late. On top of that, the locker room was filthy and the pool itself had a fair amount of debris in it. Provided, you're never going to keep all debris out of an open pool, but you have 4-5 staff members doing next to nothing so there was plenty of opportunity for one of them to scoop our debris/clean the locker rooms. It's not hard. Since I'm still a fairly strong swimmer, I'll still come here with confidence that I'll be alright and be able to get myself out of trouble should something happen. I would not, however, put the safety of my nieces and nephew in the hands of the Lifeguards I encountered on this day. If my young nieces and nephew were at this pool, my eyes would be dead locked onto them as I have ZERO faith that they would be helped in an emergency. Just my opinion.

The pool is a great asset to Yerington and the water aerobics class at 5 pm is excellent. Facility…read moreis clean and the water is also very clean. Good guards and love this place!
