All of the horses are well fed and taken care of with grooms and stable hands around the property. They don't have an indoor arena but when the weather is bad or arena is too muddy, they haul in to other facilities. The hospitality makes up for that! We brought LSF a very beloved, not fancy pony that we had come to the end of the road with and had been trying to sell for a year. We were scared of him and he was increasingly reactive. LSF spent an incredible amount of time rebuilding his and our confidence. Suffice to say, the pony is loved and a delight and we hope we get to keep him forever. LSF takes care of horses like you would yourself if you knew how, and they teach you along the way. They've also built a lovely community. The tween kids convinced us to start our kids, and it's been great to be at a place that helps build character, in addition to being thoughtful about safety. Also it's such a beautiful spot. Basically heaven on earth. Come, because it's wonderful. Don't come, because we want to save stall space for more horses for us :)

Stay Safe due to the Davis Fire…read more.. Quality/Quantity - Nice small visitor center. Educational, small gift shop, and has clean restrooms. Plenty of volunteers/team members. So many different trails. A very easy paved 0.4 mile loop hike, gravel path hikes, and of course, rough dirt hikes. Potential flooding, especially after a huge winter. Stay on the trails, as many paths have natural erosion. Stay safe. There used to be a fish hatchery here, see website. Not sure if it closed...? Also lots of wildlife; again, stay safe - Coyotes, bobcats, mule deer, black beers (we get this at the house also, LOL), mountain lions, rodents (too many to name), bats, birds, reptiles, etc. Atmosphere - Visitor center may be small, but they are packed full of information. Also cool decor, see pictures. There are also campsites, BBQ, picnic areas, volleyball courts, horse shoe, clean bathrooms, and plenty of parking (cars, RVs, buses, etc). There is even a stage in Eagle Meadows for events. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm (hours are also seasonal, see website). Clean bathrooms throughout the different parking lots and camp sites. Horse trails and minimum bike trails, see picture. Visitor center; it was actually open today. Thank you volunteers. Last time we were here was during the winter; what a difference with the seasons. Service - Self-service today. Price - Free today. Owner Comment - Thank you Washoe County for another great park!

Really disappointed with this camp. The description said that the kids would learn about Nevada…read morehistory and do activities like gold panning, lasso practice, campfire cooking, and other Wild West themed activities, but my son said none of that happened and he didn't learn anything about Nevada history at all. One of my biggest concerns was the handling of medications. My child takes medication twice a day, and it was apparently his responsibility to remind the counselors when it was time to take it. On more than one occasion, he had to wake his counselor up to let them know it was time for his medication. Had I not set alarms on his phone, he likely would have missed doses. When parents entrust a camp with their child's medication schedule, it should not fall on the child to make sure the adults are doing their job. The biggest issue was on the last day. The kids were told they couldn't go eat breakfast until they were finished packing. My son was the last in his group to finish packing. By the time he was done, all the food was gone because the other kids had already eaten and gone back for seconds and thirds. He eventually got a bag of chips and a piece of fruit after telling the counselors that he hadn't received any breakfast. No child should be left without a proper meal, especially when meals are supposed to be provided. On top of that, some of the counselors seemed disinterested in interacting with the kids, disorganized, and overwhelmed. From what my son described, the camp felt like a free-for-all with very little structure or direction. Overall, the camp did not deliver what was advertised, and we will not be returning. In my opinion, before offering any more overnight camps, the organization needs to provide better counselor training, improve supervision and medication management, and create a clear plan to ensure the activities listed in the camp description actually take place.

She got hand and foot here, the coach was sick one time, a little boy was coughing alllll over equipment right before her class went to that staton. There should be a no sick policy! I forgot the chicks name that coached her first classes but bad attitude, like she didn't even want to be there glad she wasn't the coach her entire time she went. She wasn't paying attention and a little girl fell on her head. Yeah.. I wouldn't recommend.

Tis the time's plague, when madmen lead the blind. --…read moreKing Lear We got a call from a Senior Veteran friend who lives in Sparks, Nevada to tell us that he had heard that Sparks Senior Center was having a special event to honor and thank Veterans on the Friday before Veterans Day, which is their regular Fun Day he told us, and would we like to go with him. SURE! Sounds fun! We arrived, my husband and I were wearing our Veterans' hats and shirts. Our Veteran friend was wearing his Viet Nam Veterans' leather vest. Since we're all Seniors we shuffled in, following a woman Veteran (she was wearing a Veterans cap and her cane was decorated with Veterans' stickers) that the public bus had just dropped off. She asked the woman at the counter about the Veterans event. Instead of thanking this woman Veteran for her military Service, some other woman who was down a long hallway with a door partially closed, yelled at this woman Veteran, essentially accusing her of being wrong at best and a liar at worst. It was painful to watch. Apparently there was to be no Veterans event or Fun Day that day. To add insult to injury, a woman wearing a Trump Vance campaign button came up to the woman Veteran, and my husband and I and our Veteran friend as we were waiting, and demanded why we all were in costume when it was no longer Halloween. She DIDN'T EVEN RECOGNIZE our Veterans accoutrements, or couldn't read since our hats, shirts and a vest all had Veteran predominately on them, or DOESN'T KNOW WHAT A VETERAN IS! The woman Veteran shuffled outside. We followed her outside since the people there are WEIRD and CRUEL and STUPID and UNFRIENDLY and UNWELCOMING and RUDE! See my previous review. The public bus was dropping their lift for the woman Veteran to board, when the woman from inside who had yelled at the woman Veteran while we all were inside, suddenly came outside. She confronted immediately the woman Veteran, told her she was gonna ban her from the center. NO one at this Senior Center thanked us for our military Service or welcomed us or gave us any respect or support or friendliness. It's NOT Veteran-friendly. Sparks people are NOT Veteran-friendly. Washoe County employees are NOT Veteran-friendly. We WON'T be back. P.S. My guess, the food is prepared in a commissary off site kitchen and it's excellent. Both days we've ordered the hot meal and it was delicious, very eye appealing and nutritious! The staff and clients are super friendly. On my first visit I was quizzing a nice couple on services available to seniors in Sparks. Today was their Valentine's lunch, complete with cake and ice cream, roses handed out by an AARP person and handmade Valentines made by school kids. My mom absolutely loved it. The poor staff was absolutely slammed by the turnout that I even offered to roll up my sleeves and help. Sorry, forgot the name of the woman that is the mgr. She's fantastic, you can tell how much she cares for those she serves, as her staff. We'll be back later in the month and I want to encourage my mom to go often.
