Another example of how Franktown scams their customers is horsemanship on Saturdays is literally just the kids doing chores that the owners are responsible for doing. This barn is very overpriced and not worth it AT ALL. There were some cases when my kid was so scared to go to horsemanship because of the stress that she would feel sick to her stomach. Riding is supposed to be fun and this is exactly the opposite. Do not go here. It is an absolute shit show.

We decided to go to Virginia City on Saturday for the start of Hot August Nights. However, we chose…read moreto do it the hard way. We and another couple decided to take the jumbo grade trail from New Washoe City. The trail is managed by the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management and there is a large OHV staging area with a vault toilet and off loading ramps. We did not know what to what to expect and had checked out videos on the internet but the rain and snow the past few years have had a large impact on many trails in the area. We have a lifted Jeep and they have a four person side by side, so we figured we would explore the trail and see if we could make it. The road is a mixture of fairly smooth dirt, areas of rocks as well as areas of small creek beds. We made it to Virginia city in about 90 minutes or so stopping along the way briefly. We will say that an all wheel drive vehicle or large 4 wheel drive truck we would not recommend! It was pretty rough going in the beginning where there are several trail washouts. Check out the videos for a visual. There are many off shoot trails in the area which we did not explore. Overall it was a great experience and we will be coming back!

Mostly a board/lease facility but has a small lesson program. The trainers are well educated and can train dressage and jumping. They focus strictly on you and the horses well-being and needs. They feed high quality hay and make sure the horses have water morning and evening and always check on the horses throughout the day. The arenas are spacious and safe for riding or just turning out. Having young horses that need ground work done, the round pen is perfect size! I would definitely recommend Long Ears Long Walk to a friend or anyone that needs to board. I have also been able to park our horse trailer and a 34' flatbed trailer (for an additional charge) but totally worth it, this facility is well watched and gated.
