Valerie offers a great selection of stylish Mendocino tees and hoodies elegantly displayed on unique curvy racks at the front of the store. Each of us ended up purchasing a memento to commemorate our visit to Mendocino. We had the pleasure of meeting Alex, the owner, who shared the story of how his vision for the store came to life. It was actually my favorite shop this time around with some amazing stained glass (I purchased a beautiful piece as a souvenir) and other fun items. I don't recall exactly what wasn't my style last time I visited, but Tangents is actually a cool little shop. They're located across from Harvest Market in Mendocino with plenty of street parking. The staff was very welcoming and helped check on prices of items that needed a ladder. They do charge a 3.5% fee on credit card purchases, so bring cash if you're planning on a bigger purchase. Still, the stained glass piece I bought was very well priced for its size and considering it was locally made.

Wonderful shop and exceptional customer service!…read more I stopped in after realizing I had forgotten my binoculars at home and noticed they carried them in the shop. Marilyn immediately got right to business. She didn't try to oversell me or push me toward something I didn't need--she simply listened to what I was looking for and helped me find a pair that worked for me. There was quite a selection to choose from and she really made this process seem easy and pleasant. It's obvious Marilyn knows her optics. I don't know if she's the owner or a partner, but she certainly knows how to take care of her customers. She was warm, welcoming, and, most importantly, patient. She took the time to help me even though it was a busy day. And yes, I should probably mention that I did end up buying a pair of binoculars--and I'm very happy with them! I also expected to pay a premium for what I purchased simply because of the location. To my surprise, when I got home to check reviews, I also found out there wasn't any crazy markup. There was none. I already felt like I had won by finding a quality product while traveling, only to discover I didn't have to pay the "tourist tax" for it. NICE! This tells me they're not exploiting their customers when they obviously could. Even if there had been a premium, Marilyn was such a genuinely friendly person that I wouldn't have thought twice about it. Great customer service goes a long way. And, not being completely selfish, we were also able to pick up a few things for our kiddo, who wasn't with us on the trip. There were so many interesting things to choose from that could keep a kid--or a young engineer--busy for quite a while. I would absolutely stop by this shop again and would recommend giving it a visit if you're in the area. Thank you, Marilyn! We really appreciate you!
