Before I even stepped foot in this office, I had heard stories from two of my friends who see docs here and I thought they were just being dramatic. I was wrong. If you want a call answered or returned, this is not your dermatology clinic. If you want a question answered or message returned via the patient portal, not your dermatology clinic. If you relish even the slightest bit of doctor-patient bedside manner - again, this is not your clinic. Bc your skin will get more attention from their waiting room and it's questionable decor than any of their doctors. The office staff was efficient and kind. I saw Dr. Rovner for all of 4 minutes and found him arrogant, rude and uncaring. He prescribed a cortisone cream for my facial rash, and when I asked him the percentage he said it didn't matter. It actually did matter to me since I had some prescription cortisone cream and didn't really care to buy another. When I asked him what might have caused the rash, he said "I have no idea", left the room, and on the way out said "call me in two weeks if it isn't gone. It wasn't, I called and 10 days later have not heard from him. This was a terrible experience which I had heard would be the case from many people in town. I should have listened, they were quite correct. read more

This place has extremely low quality of care. I went here for a lesion on my nose which was there for about a year , the incompetent Dr. Ronald Rovner looked at it and was dismissive about my concerns and his suggested treatment for it was wrong and left me scarred on my face. On top of this, the office staff are incredibly rude and unprofessional. loud talking, gum snapping, very rude towards patients. the doctor Rovner had a plaster cast on his arm and was unable to do any procedures and had an incredibly rude assistant who followed him around with a iPad. If you have had a negative experience with this doctor and medical practice I suggest you file a complaint with the NM Board of Registration as I plan to do. I am convinced that Santa Fe is a city where bad doctors come to practice , who can't make it elsewhere , keep that in mind when choosing your health care providers! read more

Last year I saw Dr. Auerbach to have a potentially concerning mole looked at. He had been my regular dermatologist for many years when they were in another seemingly more, medically-oriented office, Dr. A was always pleasant and highly professional until my experience last year. Upon my arrival to Epiphany, the woman at the desk was very rude and rushing me at the desk to fill out paperwork on the office tablet. I had been just on time to my appt. so saw no need to hurry. She kept assuming I would not know how to use the tablet for some odd reason. I did just fine and then she rudely rushed me through the payment process. Upon seeing Dr. A he was rushing as well, unlike I had ever seen him do in the past. Dr. A was impatiently dismissive of my questions about the mole in question brushing it off as not a problem, then quickly pulled out a device to burn/freeze off the non-mole/age spot with barely asking my permission. When I then asked if there was anything I could do to possibly lighten a scar I had from a prior biopsy with my primary care doc, he without my permission proceeded to burn/freeze the scar off to the point that I yelled. He was also yelling at me that, "This is not from a biopsy. It is just a...." He named in error what he thought the scar was by completely dismissing me. I was traumatized. Originally, I had never asked to burn/freeze off a biopsy scar, rather wanted to discuss it. The burn/freeze scar became infected with oozing puss and much larger than the original scar. I called their office and it took 4-5 phone calls to talk to a tech or nurse. They do/did not have any on-call docs. I was finally 'allowed' to see Dr. A's co-worker, an MD, Dr. Rowner who gave me an antibiotic, told me to go the ER if it got worse. It got worse and I ended up seeing an ER doc twice for a deep burn "wound!" The situation was completely unprofessional. I never heard back from Dr. A or his MD co-worker or tech/nurse. They did not care or offer any accountability, apologies or refunds. Moreover they blamed me that it was my body that had a hard time with wound healing, when this is not true nor relevent. Since I am a skin cancer/basal cell survivor, I see Dr. Grant Gerner and he is the best. Like night and day! I will never go near Epiphany again and suggest that if you do go to be very careful. Perhaps learn a martial art or something to fend off their burning/freezing device! Best Wishes read more

Dr wouldn't even touch my husband's skin. Stood eight feet away, I've never seen this behavior before. He received antibiotics but wouldn't elaborate on what causes it. Staff wouldn't call him back or nurses wouldn't get the general antibiotics moved to a different pharmacy after closing down. Waited five days for them to transfer the prescription, now has a bad infection. Will have to take him to the emergency room. Please find someone else! read more

I had an appointment for Timothy Busch in Santa Fe to look at a mole in my groin. I was waiting in my underwear in the exam room when he came in with two young ladies and told me to strip. I asked if it was customary for men to do this in front of the young ladies, and he replied, "yes, always." I told him I was uncomfortable with the situation, but he made no allowance for that. He didn't explain the role or purpose of the young ladies. I thought about it a second, then put on my clothes and left with a little bit of the dignity I came in with, but no exam. The service was only offered under conditions that I found demeaning and unacceptable. I don't need the young ladies inspecting my private parts. I sent this feedback twice to Epiphany, but they have not replied to either note. I suggest they show more respect for the dignity of customers, especially seniors. read more

I saw a Dr. Rovner, MD yesterday. What a waste of time and very unprofessional. I have been to other dermatologist who did a whole body scan with lighted instruments that gave magnified attention to any and all spots that needed assessment. This guy did a cursory look over my body without visual aid support (lit magnifying). Less than 5 minutes total. Said I was just fine despite having a melanoma last year found by a previous dermatologist. DO NOT GO TO THIS DERMATOLGOIST! read more

The office staff was very nice and helpful BUT that doctor I would highly stay away from. I have reported them to my Insurance for fraudulent billing. People beware look over your bills. read more

My very first visit ever to a dermatologist had me feeling confused. I had a mole that started bleeding and not healing on my calf. My PCP recommended seeing a dermatologist for a biopsy. I saw Dr Rovner a year ago. After driving for 2 hours and waiting for over an hour for my appointment, he came in and quickly looked at the mole and said it's probably a bug bite. I told him it hasn't healed in 10 months and he said he was pretty sure it wasn't cancer, no biopsy needed and prescribed an ointment to use. Fast forward 1 year to last month. I went back to follow up because the lesion on my calf still wasn't healed and continued to bleed. Saw the same doctor and said he could biopsy it "if I wanted to". I said yes please do that. Because I had a recent back surgery, I was unable to lift my leg because he wanted to do the biopsy with me sitting in a chair. The exam room had an exam chair that I could have sat in but he said no need to sit on the table. He bent over and took the biopsy which bled a lot even after he put a band aid on it. It was bleeding all the way home down my leg. I received the biopsy results after calling them twice and being sent to voicemail. Guess what? It came back positive for Basal Cell Carcinoma! So it wasn't a bug bite! I had to return the next week to have the entire lesion removed. I again was to to sit in the chair and not the exam room chair. I again told the assistant that my back surgery would not allow me to raise my leg and if I could sit in the exam chair which would keep my leg elevated. She said the doctor would determine what's comfortable for him to do the procedure! My obvious discomfort didn't matter. He came in and asked if I could at least try to cross my leg on top of the other leg. I had to pull my leg up by the pant leg with no offer of help from him or his assistant who was there. He removed the rest of the lesion in this awkward way and caused severe pain to my back. He put a band aid on and told me to return in 6 months. Are they trying to cut back on the use of table paper or other supplies? Why would I not be seated in the procedure chair where the tray was set up? I felt like I was at a veterinarian office. Is this how all dermatologist offices do procedures? Hopefully I'll not have any more issues so that I don't need to return. read more

I am not happy with this practice. My husband went there with a huge abcess on his back that was extremely painful, swollen, angry red. Ronald Rovner, saw him for Less than 10 min and told him to go home put a warm compress on twice a day and it should resolve in 5 days. Never even wondering how he could put a compress on the middle of his back by himself or asking if someone could help him. I helped him but I am not a nurse, the abscess didn't drain easily, five days later it was still huge, very red and swollen. We called back the office to see if he could be looked at again because we were concerned it was not healing properly, the only concern this dermatology practice had was about money, they seemed only to care that the insurance was not going to pay for this additional visit, we asked how much the visit would cost, they didn't know.... How can a doctor not care about his patient's concern. How much could it cost to look at it again and maybe figure out a different treatment? And why let a person with severe symptoms be treated by an household member who is not a nurse and can't know for sure if she is doing the right treatment. Even at the vet's office they will see you for a follow up with no questions asked and no charge. He received very bad care, was left in pain by an uncaring "doctor". My advice and the reason for this review is to let you all know to bypass this practice and find a genuine dermatologist doctor. read more

I was referred to Dr Rovner by my primary for a cyst on my chest and a mole on my face. I sat in the waiting room for over 40 minutes, and spent another almost 20 minutes waiting alone in the exam room. The doctor came in, did not introduce himself, asked me why I was there. I showed him the cyst and he took a quick look and told me "it's benign, I wouldn't touch it or you'll have a scar. I then asked him about the mole and he said he could remove it but it would have to be a separate visit, as he didn't have time to prepare a tray?? Then I showed him another small bump under my eye. He said he could freeze that one off and did. All in all I saw him for 5 minutes tops. I scheduled the next appointment, which happened to be today. When I got there they told me I had an outstanding balance of close to $200 that wasn't covered by my insurance. When I called my insurance, they told me they were billed for "removal of a lesion." I told the receptionist that I was not going through with todays procedure, and should've been told previously that the two second freeze job would cost me $200. She then said they would have to charge me a "no show" fee. This place is all about the money, and the service is abysmal. Also, to not even introduce yourself to a new patient is less than professional. Stay away! read more

So, reading the reviews prior to my appointment made me skeptical showing up for the appointment and what kind of experience I would have. Timothy Busch, PA-C was kind, professional, prompt, engaged in a real sense of interest in what my expectations were of the appointment and if I wanted a full body scan. He froze off a few spots, Took a biopsy on another, told me to wear sunscreen etc. Shook my hand, and left me with a great experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Busch!! A+ experience! read more

I was able to get in quickly to the PA for a lump on my arm. The PA was very professional and took off the lump for a biopsy. I've tried calling for two weeks to find out the results of the biopsy. I've called several times and had to leave a voicemail. No one very called me back after several voicemails. I finally reached office and was told that they would connect me to the medical staff. But after being on hold for 5 minutes I was sent to voicemail, AGAIN. Now I know why they were able to see me so quickly. They should hire a competent office manager. read more

For annual skin cancer review. Was seen fairly promptly. The examination by comparison was more like lightning. 5 minutes at the outside. No photos, no second looks. Couple of squirts on my lip which I had asked about. For this my insurance company was charged more than $500. There was a settlement for much less, but OMG. Will not be going back. Not the charges, but the inadequacy of the exam. And now I've had my "annual" for this year, I'm stuck. Can't afford to have another without insurance coverage. read more

I've been calling off and on for over 3 months to get a refill on a prescription. I've only once got a real person who then put me on hold and never came back. Eventually I was disconnected. I left several voicemail messages asking about the prescription. Eventually I got a message from CVS saying I had a prescription. It must be from Epiphany even though I never heard a word from them. I went to pick it up and weirdly it was a bulk amount that I had never been prescribed before and hugely expensive. I of course bought it because I have no idea if I'll ever get a hold of them again. read more

This business is AWFUL since they went under the Epiphany umbrella. Talking to someone there (other than the person taking appointments who can only transfer you to a useless voicemail recording if you have any questions/concerns beyond the actual making of an appointment) is impossible. The recording says someone will call you within one business day. Multiple messages, three days later, now closed for the three day weekend. Their patient portal is also a joke. No response or acknowledgement whatsoever. I'm going to find a practice that acknowledges my existence - other than when money is due - I'm always very important then. Oh - I also get constant emails from them encouraging Botox and other aesthetic treatments. I'm not a Kardashian. I like my lips just fine. Profit greatly supersedes care. Then I was given the run around by both the doctor and staff about a matter that should have been urgent. Visited the office in Santa Fe. Wouldn't recommend. The assistants (or whatever their title is) cannot even be bothered to walk in to the waiting room to call you back, they just shout your name from the end of the hall. Patients can't even see who is calling them or where they're calling from. I saw Dr. Ronald Rovner and he was incredibly apathetic in all manners including towards my skin condition. He had a smirk on his face. He never bothered to recommend how to use the cream, which it said on the pamphlet that came with the cream to follow the application process provided by your doctor. Also never bothered to review the side effects of the treatment he prescribed me. Worst experience I've ever had at a doctors office. Will not be going back. read more

Very interesting experience. First of all the place is so hard to find, and if you are not from Santa Fe, even harder! We tried calling at least 10 times, no answer. Was 2 min. late for an 11am appointment got seen at 11:30. Came in, no introduction, asked why I was there, told him I had some spots on my face and neck I needed to get checked. In a very perfunctory and unprofessional manner he looked, at my face told me they were nothing to worry about, said I could make an appointment to have them frozen and left. I seen DR Busch and let's say what a waste of time. he looked homeless and not professional at all. After an exam of less then 2 mins. I told him I had lesions on my scalp. He said can you show me? I was like I could if I had eyes on top of my head. I pointed to the lesions and he looked as clueless and said I'll try to freeze them off. he missed everyone of them that were the size of a pea. I then asked for a prescription for psoriasis and still waiting for the office to fill out A PA for the pharmacy to fill the prescription. i have tried to call the office and have them return my calls but no answer after 10 x attempts. I went to have some milia (small white bumps) removed; before I moved to Santa Fe, I lived on the East Coast, and my dermatologist always removed milia from my face. Here, I asked the doctor to do that, but instead he suggested that I use a tretinoin cream (every night for several months) so that the milia would dry up by themselves. And I bought the $47 small jar of that cream from the office! Needless to say, I won't be going back. (When I looked up the cream online, the reviews said that it is used to treat acne) read more

I can't comment on the quality of their medical care because twice I was called day before appointment (after taking off of work) to say there was a scheduling conflict. I was told the scheduler was "new" and scheduled me wrong. I didn't even want to reschedule just to make arrangements on my end and get canceled again! I live in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe. I've been trying for over a year to get to a Dermatologist. Couldn't find even one that was taking new patients. During my yearly physical last month, I found a new skin growth, raising the stakes to find a dermatologist. My new GP recommended Epiphany Dermatology. I was convinced it would be just another "we aren't taking new patients" call. But to my surprise, not only were they taking new patients, they had an opening in less than a week. The office staff was very professional. I was seen by a PA, Timothy. Instead of the typical rushed visit, he took as much time as I wanted, and explained thoroughly. We have been patients of Dr. Auerbach for about 10 years. This review is not related to him, or the other doctors at this franchise dermatology center. It is related to the franchise itself. Although we have been Dr. Auerbach's patients, we have not seen him since he joined this business. Instead, my husband has been seen by different doctors as he is assigned. Recently, he had a biopsy of a large mass that was removed over 2 weeks ago. In spite of calling almost daily for the past week, no one has returned a call to tell him of the results. "Corporate" told me the report was in, and they would ask for call to him. Nothing. In addition, there has been confusion with appointments, long waits in the office (Santa fe). It is the rotating doctors and failure to return calls that is unprofessional. Dr. Auerbach deserves better. read more

I saw Dr. Busch on 12/15/2022 for a skin rash after seeing a dr. at Urgent Care in October. Both Dr's diagnosed my rash as Shingles. Dr. Busch stated that I would have to "just let the shingles run their course. No treatment plan". On May 15, 2023, I had a referral from my primary dr. for a reassessment of the skin rash that was progressing on my legs. Dr. Rovner told me that definitely it was not Shingles but he was 90% certain that the rash was leiomyoma and would have to perform a skin biopsy. He would have results by Thursday. Two full weeks went by without a diagnostic result. Finally, a nurse left a message on my phone at 4:30 pm on Thursday stating that they had received the result but they are out of the office on Fridays and Monday was Memorial Day so no one was in the office. During these 2 weeks, I attempted to make 2 follow up appointments on line. Both were cancelled internally and I received a text message stating that the appointments were no longer available. I went back to my primary Dr. He stated that I should have been given a treatment plan by Dr. Rovner and to rebook an appointment. The 3rd appointment was cancelled. I finally spoke with his medical assistant. The result showed no malignancy. Thank God but "how do I treat it?" I had printed all the summaries and biopsy results. She stated that Dr. Rovner had ordered an ointment when I was there on 5/15/2023 but how could he, if he did not know what I had for 2 weeks? I was never told that there was a prescription. It is not in the notes. This office and the medical staff handle patient medical issues with absolutely no concern, regard, care for the patient and are extremely a poor representation of how medical physicians should treat all patients: with compassion and care! I am extremely disappointed with the lack of empathy by the medical staff specifically Dr. Busch and Dr. Rovner. If you don't care about your patients, why are you there as physicians? read more

They decided to cancel my appointment on the day of my appointment to tell me this after 2 months of waiting. Incompetence all around. Screw this place. I had a two different skin issues going on and he told me he didn't know what one of them was. He treated me for an allergic reaction for the other when I told him my skin felt mainly dry. The front office staff was really attentive, and Tim the PA on staff did a wonderful job at explaining the process, being gentle with the procedure, and making sure we start off gently and not over do it. This Dermatology Office is dreadful. First, there is no doctor, just a PA. Secondly, the PA is in such a hurry that he left the room before he froze off the little spot, which is why I went there. I had to go out in the hall and chase him down the hall because he was already entering another room. I'm not kidding. He literally spent less than five minutes with me and some of that time was spent hustling me to buy the expensive sunscreen products that they sell. This office is a hustle. There are other dermatology offices in Santa Fe where you can see a qualified doctor who will attend to you professionally. I specifically scheduled this visit to have a spot frozen off, nothing else. They coded the appointment as a full body scan which Medicare rejected because I already had one earlier in the year and they billed me $320. I never asked for a body scan and he never did one. I never took my cloths off. I was there less than five minutes and I had to chase him down to burn the spot. I never been so aggressive in my reviews, but this dermatology practice is really bad news - no doctor, poor patient care (less than five minutes with me), hustle to sell stuff. Avoid, there are several options in Santa Fe. BTW, I tried to reach their corporate office (this office is a franchise), but left messages and never received a return call. This business is bad news. This company based out of Austin, Texas OVERCHARGES their patients compared to other dermatology small practices. I've compared the exact same appointment procedure and they were much more expensive. I have a high deductible so had to pay out of pocket for all of the services. I suggest you go to a local company who isn't in New Mexico to steal your money. read more
