When I brought up my concerns, he dismissed them, making me feel unheard and frustrated. After a year of struggling, I sought a second opinion. The new surgeon discovered an external suture inside my breast, which explained why my incision kept reopening. I ultimately had the implants removed. If you're considering Dr. Andrews, think twice--my experience was incredibly disappointing.

My belly button is almost non existent now, a hump, yes, a huge hump, not a lump, on my right flank after liposuction and a breast reduction that left my nipples too high on my breasts and my left breast shape is botched and different from the right breast. I have been very self conscious and dealt with depression over the way I look. I deeply regret the mistake I made when I chose this Doctor. He was working in Cedar Rapids and this was just before he left to open his own business. I consulted with a very well reviewed surgeon months after this surgery and was advised not to have any more surgery by his hand. This was a very costly mistake that I had saved for as a 50th birthday gift to myself. I now live with the consequences for the rest of my life and will forever remember Dr. Andrews when I see my botched body in the mirror.

Tis the season for flu shots and vaccines. As a mom of two I dread this time of year. Both, because…read moreit is like herding cats (with our schedule) to get them both in at a time we don't have activities. But also, my seven year old son is the size of a ten year old and he throws a tantrum like an enraged three year old when it comes to shots. Poor buddy just can't calm down and is irrationally scared when those pointy objects come into the room. It's not a fun experience for anyone involved. I was able to see all the availability online and scheduled an appointment conveniently. I couldn't get in the week of but only about two weeks out wasn't too terrible of a wait. The day came around and MyChart continually reminded me of our appointments. (I'm always down for a reminder or six.) We popped in about five minutes early to an insanely cheerful and professional receptionist who checked us out. We waited a short time-- with the kids zoning out to some kids programming on a tv in the waiting room-- then were brought back to the exam room. The nurse was diligent and pleasant. My nine year old chose to get two shots in the same arm and our nurse did it as quick/painlessly as possible. (In non-pediatric facilities, we've had administrators of the shot have to stick my kids two or three times, as they don't anticipate a bit of fidgeting. Not the case here.) Alas, it was my seven year old's turn (you know, the one that's pushing 90 pounds and hates shots but loves to flail his arms and butt his head as he screams)... GOODNESS. What a scene. So many tears and squeals. Our nurse stayed patient throughout and even though I bribed him with basically everything except the kitchen sink-- he was not having it. Our nurse then left the room and got two more nurses to assist. EVERYONE was so kind. Kuddos to them. It took all four of us to restrain him. His shots were had in both legs at the same time-- but no one was injured. I'll consider this year a win. I'll 100% schedule appointments in the future at this location. It is very convenient (just off Penn and not far from 965), newer and has ample parking. It also offers General Pediatrics and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) care for kiddos as well as Breastfeeding Care, Family Medicine and Fhlebotomy Services for adults. I avoid the hospital whenever possible -- due to parking and navigating the huge building-- but the IRL location is busier and busier it seems. This location has far less of a demand as of now, and is a dream to navigate. Tis the season for shots-- don't overlook this location.
