In helping your athlete understand the game, what they are doing, what they should be seeing and demonstrating proper body mechanics for your athlete. In addition to i9 Sports, Police Activities League, and many other groups offering basketball play during a specified season, there were also weekly basketball clinics where we could just drop in. One such clinic is run by 808 Basketball Club held at Roosevelt High School gym on Sundays. The year round clinic teaches fundamentals and is for boys and girls from preschool through high school. The participation fee is $8, but discounted to $5 if you purchase and wear an 808 Basketball Club t-shirt. Each player needs to bring a basketball. I could tell my son was nervous, but he did his best to follow the coaches and other players. Afterwards, he told me he really liked it and wanted to return so thank you to 808 Basketball Club!

The instructors taught a variety of moves, the kids don't get bored. The instructors are helpful and everyone who attends is encouraging. Kids would demo moves and everyone would cheer them on after their demo! I liked being able to sit and watch and get some good pics in! I like how they group the kids by age and how the kids get some free time to shoot hoops. For $8 and an hour and a half you really can't go wrong! Bring money for ono snacks after!

I signed my son up for one class for fielding workout. I went online to their website where there…read moreare all the classes with specific time slots. They only allow a certain number of students, so when that is filled they will close the class. You pay online and show up for your class. Parking is tricky since it is a small parking lot. There are a few customer stalls, but it is limited. When facing the warehouse it is in the far right inside corner. You must walk upstairs to the second floor (no elevator). There is a small waiting area for parents and the rest of the warehouse has Astro Turf and netting for practice. There's no check in desk, so you just come during your time and go see the coach. My son was having a bad day, so he missed the first 20 minutes of class. However, once he went and tried it, he ended up having a lot of fun. We have not had the opportunity to go back yet due to a busy winter season, but I am hoping to put him in some private lessons.

At one point it was difficult to get into his class, which tells you a lot about how much he made it fun! This type of change is bound to happen. Can you please get a replacement cycling coach with good music and not someone who plays sucky music? I think that ALL cycling instructors should take AJ's class before teaching killer cycle. I mean if her class is always booked, with a waitlist that never seems to go down, then she's doing something right! Especially when other cycling coaches only have 4-5 people who show up at their class. All I'm saying is that I want options for other great classes when AJ's cycling class is full and I can't get in! Thank you for listening.

My dad (the legendary) Hawaii yacht racer Les Vasconcellos Jr has raced it many times (and i've joined him a couple times on more casual races. The club is very family oriented and they have many holiday parties all year long. The dining room is amazing and they also have a great walk up snack bar. I'm 51 now but i grew up here (and a few other other clubs around the island) and when I go back like I just did, old timers remember me even though i'm not the little kid they used to throw up in the air as a baby.
