The ube donut was so good and my cinnamon donut had an amazing soft cake consistency. The slice of cake was a dream. The strawberry flavoring was perfect and the cake itself was soft and moist. Wonderful spot for all your bakery needs and the staff was very kind! The cafe is nicely located in a great part of town and feels very welcoming.

We were greeted kindly and promptly when we walked in the door and they have a large selection of not only donuts, but other pastry delights as well. We were in the mood for donuts so that's what we were searching for - because it was later in the day, they didn't have as many flavors available so we settled on two maple and one chocolate with sprinkles. The donut overall was really good definitely a little bit of a denser donut but good flavor. The icing is very thin and definitely melts off quickly, especially in the Florida heat. We took ours home to eat later and a lot of the icing had already melted it off, even though we had it inside in air-conditioning the entire time. The maple is very sweet and the chocolate was good but a little on the sweet side as well. Overall, great experience if you're looking for a quick donut when you're on central Avenue in St. Pete

We took a walk to get a few breakfast items. Very long. We started our Saturday morning with a nice…read morewalk to grab coffee and breakfast, and it was the perfect way to kick off the day. We ordered two large coffees, two ham, egg, and cheese open-faced croissants, and a blueberry scone. I wasn't used to having a breakfast sandwich served open-faced, but I'm officially a fan now. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and paired perfectly with the ham, egg, and cheese. Every bite was delicious. The coffee was exactly what we needed to start the morning, and everything together made for a fantastic breakfast. If you're looking for a cozy spot with fresh pastries, great coffee, and a relaxing way to start your weekend, this is definitely worth a visit.

Tom Terrific here with another honest review…read more I could not get waited on at the Birchwood Canopy so I searched for a place to eat elsewhere. I came up Cassis Market advertising pizza so I popped in and ordered on with pepperoni, sausage and ham. One slice came to nearly $7. The man behind the counter was polite but uninterested. He looked like he wished he could be anywhere but there. I took my pizza out to eat at their outside table. I took a bite. Man was it stiff. And that was at the point where it's usually the best part. I kept eating and crunching. No moisture at all. Some flavor but not enough to justify the cost or enduring the hardness. The ham was hard. The pepperoni was all curled up and looked overcooked. The sausage was just OK. I was hungry but I left half of it and threw it in the trash. It sat in my stomach like I had swallowed an anvil. Now I must say I selected this from a whole pizza in the display case. It was not a piece that had been lingering there for a long time. My slice was the first slice from the pie so I was taken aback by it's texture and hardness. Cassis Market - NOT recommended.

We found Baked in the Burg looking for Maddie's Cakes on Google Maps. Immediately, we realized that…read morethis was not the business we'd looked at online, but decided to give it a try. To start, Maddie's Cakes indicated that it opened at 5pm, leading us to believe that it serviced the late-night coffee-and-pastries crowd. Baked in the Burg opens at 10am and closes at 7pm, and has a very different vibe than what we were expecting. The pastries are definitely meant to be the star of the show, but they were mislabeled (labeled as chocolate pistachio but only chocolate was available), and the baristas knew very little about the product. Speaking of the baristas, although they were very friendly, they clearly were woefully lacking in training. I ordered a chai tea, and one of the baristas asked the other, "Do you know how to make that?" Additionally, my mom ordered a coffee, and when she asked if the brew coffee sitting on the hot plate was fresh, the barista answered, "It was made this morning [seven hours prior to our visit], but it's been on the hot plate." My mom had to ask for a fresh pot to be made, because apparently no one told these poor girls how disgusting coffee is after seven hours on a hot plate. To their credit, though, they were extremely friendly and accommodating, and did their best to answer all of our questions. I just think they need more training. As far as the pastries are concerned, we were so disappointed that we ended up going to Sorrento Sweets right up the street. Skip Baked in the Burg and head to Sorrento's if you want a high-quality bakery experience.
