The dentist is amazing, and the hygienist is genuinely one of the best. Unfortunately, the office manager makes it nearly impossible to recommend this practice. She was dismissive, rude, and unwilling to take the time to verify my insurance benefits properly. I was told my new insurance was out of network and that I would need to pay approximately $300 for my appointment. After looking into it further myself, I discovered that my insurance would have covered my cleaning in full twice a year. This could have been resolved with a basic benefits check and a willingness to help. I have been a patient here for years because the dentist provides excellent care, but the front office is the face of any medical practice--and describing this experience as merely a "bad day" would be generous. Reaching the office is another ongoing frustration, as calls almost always go directly to voicemail. Los Angeles has plenty of practices where patients can receive excellent dental and hygiene care while also being treated with professionalism and respect. Until the front-office experience improves significantly, I recommend staying away. read more

I am leaving this review to warn other new patients to be cautious before agreeing to scaling and root planing/deep cleaning at this office. I came in as a new patient for an exam/cleaning on 6/18/2026. During periodontal charting, the probing was extremely forceful and painful throughout my mouth. I have had periodontal charting done for years at other offices, and it never hurt like this. The dentist repeatedly called out 5mm and 6mm pocket readings and told me I needed SRP/deep cleaning in all four quadrants. I was also told they would not perform a regular cleaning unless I agreed to SRP. I initially agreed because I was worried, but I became uncomfortable, withdrew consent, and left before treatment was performed. After reviewing my records, I became even more concerned. The office diagnosed generalized moderate chronic periodontitis and treatment-planned SRP in all four quadrants, but the periodontal chart from that same visit listed 0% plaque, 0% calculus, 0% bleeding, 0% suppuration, no mobility, no furcation involvement, and no clinical attachment level greater than or equal to 6mm. My prior and subsequent periodontal charts from other offices showed mostly 3mm/4mm readings with only localized higher readings in the back, including an area near a filling/contour issue that had previously been explained to me as making gum attachment more difficult. Based on my experience, I am concerned this office may be using aggressive probing and alarming pocket readings to push expensive deep cleanings on new patients. I have filed a complaint with the Dental Board of California. I strongly recommend getting your periodontal chart, X-rays, diagnosis, and treatment plan, and seeking a second opinion, before agreeing to SRP/deep cleaning here. read more

Probably the most pleasant experience at the dentist I've ever had. I've gotten deep cleanings, fillings and a crown replacement here. All of these procedures were painless and successful. I know that I'm in good hands with Dr. Caligiuri. He's gentle, accommodating and provides comprehensive care that I can trust. I moved downtown earlier this year and needed to find a new dentist and am thrilled I found Dr. Caligiuri. I did a cleaning in April and another one in November and had excellent service for both. Dr. Caligiuri is so nice! He really takes time to speak with me and build rapport. As a new patient, my first visit was to meet with him so he could determine the proper course of treatment. Then I came back for my cleaning on a different day with a hygienist. Dr. Caligiuri did my cleaning at my most recent visit. I have never had a dentist actually do my cleaning before. Such service! Very friendly staff. Good location and close to the subway. The office is very clean and modern. This place practices eco friendly dentistry. They maintain a high quality of patient care while limiting consumption of earth's resources. For example, they use glass beverage and mouthwash cups, instead of paper. I highly recommend Dr. Caligiuri, especially when it comes to cosmetic bonding. I chipped my front tooth years ago and had it bonded by a different dentist. Earlier this week, a small portion of the bonding chipped. Environdental fit me into their busy schedule on the same day, and I was able to get my tooth bonding repaired in less than 45 minutes! And it looks so good, better then it originally did - I honestly cannot tell that a fraction of my tooth is bonded! I couldn't be happier with Dr. Caligiuri. I found him through this site pre-pandemic and had planned to start the initial exam process to feel things out there at his office but I ended up going to the wrong office by mistake and didn't get to start anything going before we shut the city down in 2020. Needless to say, I kept him in mind and finally found the opportunity to walk in and set up an appointment with Luz. The initial exam was thorough and honest and addressed every single one of my questions. We laid out a game plan on my work needed and costs. I was impressed with how calm and clean an environment it is and the pretty cool mix of ambient music they have, but the staff is truly what makes this office special. Everyone is super professional and respectful as well as friendly and polite, but Dr. Caligiuri is in a dental league of his own. He's great to converse with and he's clearly an expert in his field. I hadn't been to a dentist in a scary amount of years and in already having had half my mouth cleaned, this man has meticulously taken years off with minimal discomfort and given me a whole new look and feel and I still can't believe. I feel really clean and healthy and I have instruction from him on how to maintain it. He's just so sweet and awesome a person. I mean this. I feel lucky to have found Dr. Caligiuri's office. This is hard to write. The staff is very friendly and kind but my teeth were damaged here. The doctor filed some of my teeth very aggressively in preparation for Invisalign, the giant space he created never closed properly even after Invisalign treatment ended, and as a result one tooth was so severely damaged that I am on my way this morning to get my first ever dental crown at another dentist. I was generally satisfied until I went to a new dentist after moving away and discovered my teeth had been quite damaged by overaggressive filing and multiple large fillings. I am really disappointed my tooth was damaged so much it requires a crown now. My husband claims his fillings from this office are still uncomfortable over a year and a half later after several attempts to adjust them. Just ultimately not a good experience for either of us unfortunately. I found the staff very friendly and personable, the office is convenient, comfortable, and clean, but I am very unhappy that my teeth ended up damaged. read more

You can call the front desk to help you find the parking and they are more than welcome to assist you. Their staffs are nice, professional and clean. What I like the most is he explains thoroughly (the dentist), and he take his time to check on you. Talk about going above and beyond! Dr. Caligiuri is so professional, polite, kind and absolutely the best Dentist ever, and Luz is so sweet, kind and helpful. I had a dental emergency a few weeks ago. on a Sunday, and I called the office over the weekend to leave a voicmail to have the office call me when they're back in to schedule an appointment asap to get my broken crown repaired. Within an hour from leaving my voicemail, I received a call from Dr Caligiuri, (on the Sunday, his day off.). I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I am with my overall experience with this place. Started with emailing an online inquiry, on the weekend of all days, and they responded immediately. I let them know prior that I was pregnant and they explained how they would do x-rays by making sure they doubled up on the protective gear over my belly. Before my appointment they sent plenty of reminders so I wouldn't forget. Day of appointment they were able to see me earlier than I was scheduled and said that I can come in if I like or keep the same time I was scheduled for. I said yes I would be right there (since I live across the street). It was just nice to be given the option and no pressure if not. Then when I arrived they greeted me with my name and I had never even been there yet! This was literally the first dentist I had ever been to that I didn't have to wait at least 15 minutes to be seen. So after immediately being shown back they prepped me for the X-rays and then the dr came back and started the exam. He was so thorough and explained everything he was doing so I understood. Then he was able to do my cleaning directly after. When I was done I went to the front again to schedule a follow up and then ended up making an appointment for my husband on a Saturday which is great since he works during the week. I went here for the first time knowing nothing about the place; they're close to my apartment and they were in my provider's network. I'm now convinced I can never go anywhere else. Dr. Caliguiri and Luz are two of the most warm and welcoming people I've encountered in any healthcare environment. The office is clean, modern, and inviting. There's espresso in the lobby (!!!). After each appointment, they offer a warm towel and mouthwash to freshen up before you leave. Luz had researched my insurance and knew what was covered before I even arrived (it was all covered except one copay). I just can't speak highly enough about the whole experience - and all this coming from a guy who typically despises going to the dentist. As for Dr. Caliguiri, I'm glad he's a relatively young guy, because I'll be visiting him for decades, and recommending everyone else I know to do the same thing. Dr. Caligiuri is really nice, professional and non-judgemental. He explains procedures clearly beforehand, and unlike previous dentists I have had, never makes me feel like he is suggesting unnecessary work. His calm demeanor puts me at ease as he works gently but meticulously on my teeth. I would also say that I feel less pain that with previous dentists. Luz is also really lovely and friendly, and I love the reminders she sends for my appointments. I also really appreciate the mouthwash and the hot towel at the end of each appointment. The interior of Environmental is spotlessly clean, peaceful, and beautifully designed. I have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes in the waiting room, and usually walk straight in! Today I had my second appointment with Dr. Caligiuri at Environdental. My last appointment I had an intensely, deep cleaning as I was going to be having a root canal within the next two weeks. Dr. Caligiuri was very gentle and the cleaning was not uncomfortable for a moment. Regular teeth cleanings are usually painful and this one was a deep cleaning. It was the best cleaning experience I have ever had. I was surprised that the dentist himself performed the cleaning. That impressed me and told me a lot about the way he feels about making sure his patients receive the best care. He is thorough and has a great personality, he is welcoming and friendly, and you feel like you trust him immediately. And you should because today I went for a root canal that I knew I needed for the past year and a half, but put off until now. He was able to fill it without giving me a root canal. He placed a protective layer over my root, fully cleaned the tooth and then filled it. It was my very back tooth on the top, which is considered a molar, even if you've had your wisdom teeth removed like I have. The whole process took less than a half an hour, if you can believe that. During my initial exam when I had x-rays and they showed that I would definitely need the root canal, just as another dentist had told me over a year ago, Dr. Caligiuri went the extra mile by doing a cold test on the tooth and surrounding teeth and he immediately knew he could save me from the root canal based on my responses to the cold test. He had to do some drilling today to find out whether or not my root was completely exposed or not, but he was right. The last two dentists at another dentistry both agreed there was no way around a root canal, but this doctor had a feeling he could save me the discomfort and expense of a root canal. He was right and it was a great experience. Like I said, he was quick and thorough- a rare combination. The rest of the staff at Environdental are the nicest people too. They are genuine and kind and made the whole experience of going to the dentist a pleasure as opposed to what it usually is...going to the dentist. There is no question that this is the best dental practice in the greater Los Angeles area. read more
