I've reserved/rented an SUV 3 times in the past couple months at this location and EVERY TIME they did not have SUV vehicles available. They offered a sedan instead. If I wanted a sedan, I would have rented a sedan. They are unapologetic and say that they can only depend on what vehicles are returned. We rented a van several weeks ago on line because we had a very important family meeting to attend in Pa. we had 6 people traveling . On the day we had the vehicle scheduled for the rental, we learned that all they had was a passenger car to rent. We also learned that there was a van on the lot but that was scheduled to go out around 10:30 am, we were there at 9:00 am. Made no sense I said to the guy at the counter I guess the person renting the van must be a friend or something he wouldn't even look at me. We ended up renting a car so some of us had to stay home. Then around 10:42 I was across the street from Enterprise and observed an older w/m come out from the main entrance to the building. The male was waving and yelling thank you to one of the employees, not one employee came out to look over or to check the vehicle which they do at every rental. No doubt in my mind that vehicle was for a friend of one of the employees. Screw a regular customer I do rent several cars a year. read more

Can I give no stars? My 21 year old son reserved a mini van on enterprise's online site. When we went to pick up the vehicle, we were told the location would not rent a mini van or any other large vehicle to a driver under 25. This of course caused us to scramble to find a minivan and change multiple plans to drive to another location. In May of this year, I traveled 3,000 miles from my home to Delaware to help staff the community hospital Beebe Medical Foundation. During my stay, my car was stolen from the parking lot where I am staying. While this has been a very unfortunate situation, I have been able to use LYFT and the kindness of my colleagues to get to and from work. In addition to my daily routine, which is 3 12-hour shifts a week, I also provide "on-call" coverage in case there is an after hour emergency. I am concerned that I will be unable to reach a LYFT ride in the middle of the night to get to an on-call emergency. As a result, I reached out to the Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Rehoboth. Last week I was informed that Enterprise would not rent me a car because I do not have a major credit card or a Delaware drivers license. I thought I might take a chance and speak to a manager to see if I might be able to provide some other information that might satisfy the guarantee that I am qualified to pay for the rental. I even have the support of the hospital behind me and offered to have the manager of my department reach out to them to guarantee my contract as a staff nurse. In the course of the conversation, I mentioned to the branch manager MELANIE PARKER, that I understand policies and that I believe that policies are written for a reason. Therefore, if they are still unable to rent a car to me, I would understand. Ms. Parker assured me that she would see what she could do for me. She said that she was not in a position to make that decision and that she would reach out to her superiors to see what she would be able to do. To be certain that I would have enough time to find a car rental company that could work with me, I called at 9 a.m. in the morning. As I had worked the night before I laid down, making certain that my phone was within arms reach and that the ringer volume was turned up as loud as it could be. I woke up at 3 p.m. and checked my phone. I received no phone call. When I called to check in with Ms. Parker, I was instructed by Patrick that she had left for the day, but that she had given her a list of people to reach out to. My name was on that list. He began his next sentence with "Unfortunately..." At once I knew that renting a car at this location would be impossible in spite of offering further documentation and a guarantee by Beebe Hospital. This left me in a predicament as I now had a couple of hours to secure a car at another rental agency. The reason for this review is not that they could not rent me a car. As I said, I understand company policy and I would have been accepting of a "no" answer. The reason for this negative review was the callousness of care that I received by Ms. Melanie Parker. Ms. Parker's behavior in not reaching out to me so that I could secure another avenue for a car rental was unprofessional, unethical and uncaring. The message on the phone when you are holding for an agent states that Enterprise is a family owned business and they treat their customers with superb service. As far as I can tell this is a false statement. Again, I wish to reiterate that if I had received a prompt, or at least a timely, response I would not have argued and would have thanked her for making the effort. Instead I was treated with contempt when she refused to call me back, left a message for her assistant to call me back, and then in turn he did not call me back. IF YOU SUPPORT THE NURSES WHO WORK SO HARD TO SAVE THE LIVES OF YOURSELF AND THOSE YOU LOVE, PLEASE TELL THIS ENTERPRISE OFFICE THAT YOU ARE SHOCKED AT THE TREATMENT OF THIS ONE PARTICULAR NURSE. I don't consider myself to be a hero. I am a nurse who cares for patients without question. Right now I am thousands of miles from my home and away from my children. The only support I have is the support of the good people of Beebe. I have rented from Enterprise in the past and I have never had such dismal customer service. I thank you for reading this review. I unexpectedly needed to rent a car while we were on vacation. I went online to rent one at 4:15pm and saw they closed at 5pm. Brandon immediately called to let me know that they would have everything ready for me to go once I arrived. They ended up not having the class of SUV I reserved, and Brandon was super helpful finding me something within my budget that also met my needs. I booked a rental car with Enterprise 6 days before my grandmothers funeral. The car was booked in my boyfriends name because he was the one who would be driving, due to the fact that I'm not yet 25, the legal age to rent a car in DE. The day before the funeral, they called me to make sure I "'met all of the qualifications" to rent the car. They said that in order to pay for the car with a debit card, I'd need to have two utility bills in my name (which I don't have bc I live with family). They then said that in order to pay with a credit card, the card would have to be in my boyfriends name, and they couldn't use a card in my name. The staff is friendly and nice but the car smelled of smoke (or whatever that scent they use to cover up smoke) plus they said "oh, your tank is at half a tank", and accordingly I agreed to pay them any gas level for less than half a tank, but as I drove off, I realized it was between 1/4 and 1/2 tank... which I should have called them about but figured it wasn't worth the hassle. After all of that, I ended up just borrowing my friend's car to drive to Philadelphia since I couldn't stand the smoke odor and he used the rental for the week.... pretty disappointing experience overall. read more

I don't know if anyone has ever seen the Seinfeld episode where Jerry goes to the counter of a car rental agency only to be told that his reservation for the car he wanted is not available. And the whole joke was that I guess they really don't know what the word reservation means. This is what happened to me. I reserved a car a week in advance to be picked up on a Monday and to be dropped off later in the day. I needed that car from 9 to 4. I needed to be somewhere in Virginia at 11:30. My time was not flexible. When I got there at 9 o'clock, the man said oh we tried to call you. I said I didn't get the call what's going on? He said oh I just wanted to know if you were flexible in your times because we don't have a car for you!? I said what do you mean you don't have a card for me, I have a reservation. He once again said well I tried to call you, where I interjected so you were calling to tell me that you had no car for me and what good is that, you keep telling me that you tried to call me, when the outcome is the same? Then the gentleman goes on to tell me well if you're flexible, I said I'm not flexible, I have to be somewhere at 11:30 and I'm going to return the car at 4. And then he says well can you come after your appointment at 11:30?? What the heck? So I'm supposed to rent a car for just a couple hours? He was very dismissive to me and I just turned around and walked out. So if you ever plan on renting a car from this place, don't bother, your car probably won't be available. read more

Do not trust these people. I picked up a rental car from this location to drive my sister and her brides maids around for her wedding day. I didn't make the reservation I just picked up the car to help out my sister on her wedding. I called to confirm the reservation (A one day rental). I wasn't supposed to pay for it but whatever, it's my sister so who cares. I was just happy to help in any way I could for her wedding. So I gave them my credit card when I picked up the car. When I returned the car no one was at the enterprise location? They took the day off? Then they tried to charge me for an extra day because they were closed. Lol. Like its my fault and I should be penalized because they don't want to stay open. How does that make sense. They also tried to bill me for extra gas and I filled up the tank the day before. Then they screwed up with their billing system and couldn't charge my credit card lmao. So they mailed me a bill for more than twice what I agreed to pay and expect me to pay it? I don't think so! I'm not going to willfully pay you double contract price due to your incompetence and policy of overcharging for fuel especially when I return the vehicle with more gas than it had when I rented it. Additionally their fuel rate is way over (about double) the fair market value for fuel in the area. Ever heard of unjust enrichment!? I see a class action law suit here! I have used enterprise exclusively for the last 20 years and now due to their incompetence and subsequent rude behavior involving their collection tactics I have been permanently blacklisted from ever renting an enterprise car unless and until I agree to pay more than twice the contract price! Enterprise your deliberate fraud, incompetence, overcharging policies, and failure to care for your customers has resulted in the end of a long and loyal relationship. Shame on you! read more

I rented a van online and confirmed with them over the phone on Friday that it would be there on Monday. An hour before my reservation on Monday morning, they called and said there was no van. They offered no suggestions or help to get me a van to make up for the fact that they were unable to uphold my reservation. Awful, unacceptable customer service. Edit- we went to the location and saw a minivan and made that work. The manager was very nice and folded down all the seats so it was essentially the cargo van we needed. Updated to 3 stars because it worked out, but only 3 because it was our idea to use the minivan, not enterprise's suggestion. read more

My husband and I made reservations to rent a car to visit family out of town for the weekend. When we arrived to pick it up we were told we needed utility bills! Which we don't normally carry with us. So we said we would return. After thinking about the situation we decided Not To return. We signed no paperwork originally nor did we rent a vehicle there. They charged out debit card over 400.00 anyway. This tied up our bank account for the entire weekend. We actually had to cancel our weekend because of this! I was charged $80.00 in error for an additional driver that did not exist. I spoke to 2 people at this location who assured me it would be taken care of well 12 days later and I am still out $80.00. Dan, the manager at the Rehoboth Beach office, has been incredibly helpful to me as I've had to rent cars twice this week. Erica helped with a quick return and advice on my next rental. First time the Kia Soul had just been washed and seemed like brand new. Dan asked how I liked the car when I returned it and I said it was fine but driving a small car it more fun if it's a sports car - haha -- even a Corolla like my daughter has. When I walked in a couple days later on Friday to rent a car he said how about a Corolla? There it was ready to roll.And, he didn't over charge me for returning it in Wilmington. I reserved a van in July, 2017 to be picked up in Oct, 2017. This should allow any competent company enough time to get the reservation right...right? Wong! I showed up in Oct and was told the van that I reserved was on "hold" because it needed an oil change! I asked how long that would take & was told an hour or longer!! Needless to say, I was beyond pissed. They offer me a 20 percent discount which was unacceptable so they asked what I thought was reasonable. Well considering you can't get my reservation right over a 3 mos period, I expect a free car. That didn't happen so they waived the gas and gave me an additional discount and had a van driven from another location. This resulted in me and 4 others missing our flight out of National. My first experience and write up was on 2/1/16 ...I thought things would have gotten better but they are just as incompetent and ever! Make your rental reservations somewhere else!! read more

Worse service ever from Enterprise! We were on vacation with our 2 little girls and had mechanical problems. We called the local Enterprise as well as roadside assistance......5 hours later, we still have no replacement and no one willing to help us find one! Was on hold for 30 minutes with roadside assistance while someone was supposedly "helping" me only to have another person answer the phone who had no clue that I've been on hold!! I live locally and use this office frequently. In the past, I have been happy with the service. However, today I just got a call-- 30 minutes prior to my scheduled pick up--that they do not have any cars and won't for several days. Last time I rented there, I heard a similar conversation going on as they were calling others with reservations. I made my reservations 2 weeks in advance and am a regular customer. I made no difference today! This is really incompetent service and clearly something is happening with the service here. So, BEWARE, you, too can get stranded! read more

I lease my CR-V and didn't want to put excess miles on it by driving to my office in DC so I rented from Enterprise. Not only was the staff friendly, they provided me with more than excellent customer service. I drove to DC for three days in a BRAND NEW Jeep! I was more than satisfied. Will I return? The customer service at this location is not up to your typical enterprise rental experience. Rent from here with caution. The short version of our story is we brought a rental into this location that was having tire trouble and we were unable to get fixed over the 4th of July weekend. Instead of coming to us to trade vehicles we had to drive with an unsafe car with our 4 kids in tow to trade the vehicles. Why they advertise they will come to you I'm not sure! We weren't in any hurry and we're open to their timing just did not want to miss out on family and friends visiting for vacation. Anyways, we traded the car and were promised by the branch manager himself he would call us when the original rental was fixed so we could trade back. He did call and we agreed on a time when I would come pick it up. I showed up to pick up the car on our last family day together at the agreed upon time. It was gone and I was not offered any options. I was promised they would return the car to me today and I have heard nothing from the after calling and emailing. This branch manager is unreliable and clearly needs retraining. Consistency is what this location needs and communication. I get its busy but no response and many screw ups is unacceptable. Highly recommend you rent elsewhere. I have never had these problems with Dollar or Hertz. read more

Terrible service. Waited at the counter for like 10 minutes before someone came to help me. I needed to rent a car for 1 day because my car was in the shop. Because I was paying with a debit card they asked me to provide utility bills. I thought it was a bit invasive. You can rent a UHaul truck so easy and drive that big a** thing around with just a license and some money. You can put peoples lives at risk driving a huge vehicle that you're not used to, but if you want to rent a Nissan Note they want your first born child and a blood sample. no thank you. read more
