I bought my condo in the VOFP 5 years ago. I am on a ground floor unit, which is great, as I do…read morenot have to haul groceries, etc., up and down stairs. However, the noise from the other units (above and beside us) is ruining what would otherwise be a delightful beach home. The unit above us is a rental and my husband and I hear constant thumping all day and all evening. It sounds like someone is running back and forth. The plumbing noise is terrible. I can hear toilets flush, showers running, and the TV playing in the units connected to us. I can only assume they were built cheaply with little or no soundproofing between units. Otherwise, the community is lovely, parking is plentiful even in the summer. Beware that most of these units were built in 2004, so since I purchased the condo in 2014 I have had to replace the entire HVAC system, and the water heater, leaving little money for upgrades that need done. If you are thinking of buying, find out when the water heater and HVAC was updated. Also, the routine maintenance leaves something to be desired. I think they trim the bushes about once a year. It gets so bad that my husband has gone outside and trimmed them himself a few times so we can see out our windows. I love the pool and being able to have a community that offers dining, a grocery store and pharmacy all within the community. The walking paths are very nice as well.

I would love to give them 5 stars but I can't. Due to work I have been here since Feb 2015 and the…read morefirst Condo I was in on North Village Loop gets 5+ stars, great screened in porch overlooking a pond, the year round residents very nice and friendly, felt very safe and the outside area very clean and well kept. Due to the summer season I had to be moved to another Condo on Chesapeake St over the store fronts and even though the Unit was nice the surrounding area was not. I would love to add a picture of what $2200.00 a month gets you when it comes to the outside area. Due to the business below the dumpster was always over flowing with trash behind and around the dumpster and a horrid yeast smell from the left over dough laying on thr ground around the dumpster. This business does not recycle (please note dumpsters available throughout the complex) nor do they break the boxes down and throw full pallets in the dumpsters. I can say that I did not see any Rats but I am sure that was due to the Crows, Sea gulls and Turkey Buzzards making daily dumpster dives (the lids where not closed on top due to the bulk of the trash). Not only did I worry about my health and safety but also of my dog, not to mention the children that attend the pre-school(the dumpster is on the back side where their back door is located--and yes the children would come and go by that door for outside activities). I have walked the complex behind the other business and never saw such a disaster from any of the other business, what I did notice boxes were broken down and tied, tops of the dumpsters closed and not overflowing and no trash laying around the dumpster or on the ground. Safety was an issue and that is strictly due to people coming and going from the businesses and no security cameras or frequent patrols by the security company, you would see them at least once maybe twice making patrols but not very helpful if a problem did arise. Now lets get to the parking issue, for the renters above the store fronts you are told you have assigned parking but that is a JOKE, well at least for this area. The bakery employees park not only their personal vehicles but also the company delivery trucks in the assigned spots for the renters(signs are posted but good luck on getting the number to call to have them towed), most will say that's not such a big deal but it can be at the peak of the season when parking is at a prime and if like me I worked different shifts and after a 12hr shift you want to know that you have a place to park and not to mention it is stated in the rental agreement that you have a designated parking spot and that spot is included in the rental fee. Overall the complex as a whole is beautiful and well kept. I would recommend this Complex for a vacation rental but try and get one of the Condo's on North Village Loop you will not be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing! We stopped in Dewey Beach for a couple nights on our way down the east coast…read more We choose the Surf Shanty because of its location to beach (less than a 3 minute walk) and it's very chic retro (but not cheesy) style. Its designer also deserves 5 stars! But that's not what will bring us back. What will bring us back, is Andre and his honesty, his hardworking/attention to cleanliness, and most importantly his kindness. Andre and his staff go above and beyond for their guests. From finding/shipping a lost ring (for another quest) to taking pride in the appearance of the motel, from sharing great ideas for food/drink/etc. He cares!!! He made our stay in the comfy beds, cool air conditioning, and hot shower unit that we had even that much better. You will love your stay at the Surf Shanty and you will remember Andre! It's conveniently located to the shops/restaurant and the beach- within walking distance. The staff is welcoming and helpful. It has street parking, and a parking garage for guests only. The hotel boasts of a beautiful indoor pool and restaurant. The restaurant/bar Sirocco is very elegant and was completely full both nights of our stay. The pool is nice and heated, but still chilly in cold weather - though my kids didn't seem to mind. The doors open out to a nice rooftop patio in nicer weather. There is a small gym, though I didn't get a chance to go look at it. There are some points of improvement: - we left our room at 8 in the morning. When we came back around noon, it had not been visited by the cleaning staff. When we left and came back again around 3, it had been visited but only stocked with fresh towels and the trash was taken out. Our soiled towels and some dishes were still on the floor/sink. When we left for dinner, I mentioned it to the front desk attendant at 530. He was very apologetic and said they would send someone up to address the issue. When we got back at 8, our soiled towels were gone, but that was it. The beds were not made, and there were still old dishes on the sink from the night prior. - I pulled out one of the clean (or so I thought) glasses from the cabinet in the room and noticed it had a bunch of finger prints. So I pulled each and every one out of the cabinet and was surprised and disappointed to see not only fingerprints but LIP prints on all of the glassware, as if they had been put back dirty after multiple uses. I cleaned a glass in the sink with hot water and soap for my own usage, but that's less than optimal for a Hilton affiliate. Other than that, a great family visit at a nice hotel. We talked to the assistant general manager Cyrus and he was great with service recovery for our two small complaints!

The house we chose was on the 2nd hole of the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course. I'm not a golf-sicko like so many of my friends, but this was special. The views overlooking the course from our balconies were stunning. My son and I played the course and it was about as well manicured as any course I have ever seen. Whatever Troon Golf is doing to keep that place looking pristine -- keep up the good work. And maybe you could swing by my personal home and work on the grass a bit - it looks nothing like yours! The rest of the resort is first rate. The kids had a ball at the wave pool and my wife and daughter said the spa was pure luxury. The restaurant was somewhere between good and better than good. I guess standard level for a clubby setting. That said, we ate most meals in Rehoboth -- which worked out fairly well. Overall a great place to take the family for a golf/beach/resort getaway. Plus the cost of the rented house was no different than 2 hotel rooms at the beach -- yet the accommodations were incredible and the amenities of Peninsula were really quite special.
