I rented a moving truck from Budget to move from Lawrence to the west coast. Let me start with the…read moreone negative, and hopefully the most useful information, to anyone preparing for a big move: If you reserve a truck online, Budget changes its prices daily. My rental started at $1,185.75. Six days later the same truck was available for $1,120.30. The next day I was able to create a new reservation for $1,105.85. That was the lowest price I saw. However, a week or so later I decided to add a car dolly to tow my car, but when I went to edit my reservation, their system tried to change the price of my truck rental to over $1,300. When I called customer service for them to add the car dolly and specifically said I didn't want this to affect the price of the truck, they made the change and it automatically changed the price of the truck to $1,482 -- which was even more than the price listed online (I checked). I was able to call and get the priced lowered, but still. Be aware, if you plan ahead, you can shop for the best rate, but make sure you reserve everything you need at once. It's because of this inconvenience I took off a star. As for the four stars I did give, they are to recognize the excellent customer service of the owner/manager of this location: Christian. Christian was the one who added discounts to my order to negate the fee increase I incurred. When it came time to pick up the truck, he gave me honest advice on which coverages to select and which ones to pass on. Because I was spending such a large amount for the truck, he was nice enough to throw in some furniture pads. But more important than anything, he took the time to help me secure my car to the car dolly and make sure I knew how to work the ratchets and take everything off, if necessary (which wound up being very necessary). He said he wants people to drive out of the lot feeling confident because confident drivers don't have accidents. Well, Christian made me feel confident about towing a car for the first time and I drove almost 2,000 miles without incident. Overall, the cost for a truck through Budget was far less expensive than going through U-Haul and I also received unparalleled customer service.

Show up on scheduled pick up day at 4:40 to get vehicle. NO rental cars of any kind are in parking lot and sign on door says closed. We called number on door and phone operator said she saw our rental confirming booking but had no explanation as to why it wasn't there or why they were not open. All she could offer was an apology because all the other rental locations closed at 5 so we couldn't go to another location to get a car. We never received an explanation or apology for their actions. I will never do business there again and highly recommend others use this extreme caution when setting up a rental there. Very frustrating and disappointing!
