Car rental places usually have a really bad name, but this one was great. They didn't put a lot of pressure on to upsell and they were very accommodating with pickup / drop off times. Rented a vehicle for 2 weeks from HOU; the online reservation was easy and Enterprise sent a couple of reminders prior to the pickup date. Shuttle to the offsite location was nice and the entire process was smooth. I reserved for a compact but was given a cross-over. It's not terrible but wasn't as gas efficient. There are no mechanical issues on the vehicle and I only wish the windows are tinted especially in the insane Texas heat! Return was also smooth but the ride back to the terminal was a bit scary. The driver cut in front of the ambulance even when its siren was on. I find it frustrating as every single second counts when the ambulance is en route to save lives. Imagine that person is your family, friends, colleagues, etc. Hope Enterprise will refresh their drivers when it comes to public safety. Travelled to Houston Area about a month ago. Booked a mid-size. Arrived and we got a "free upgrade" to a small SUV. Checked the car over and everything seemed fine. After travelling all day and exhausted, late afternoon, drove away in the setting sun - hey thanks for putting the sun visor down for me. Everyone working there was really nice. 30 miles down the road, the sun has set and I flip up the sun visor to discover a BIG crack in the windshield. Instantly felt like I'd been scammed. Either the last renter cracked it and they didn't notice, or someone put a hot car in the wash rack and it cracked when they sprayed water on it. Almost $500 bill. Thanks for the 'free upgrade' pal. You probably high-fived all your buddies inside when I drove away, knowing you wouldn't get chewed out for checking in a damaged car from the last person now. Other than getting hit with the damage bill, the car wasn't terrible for a weekend loaner. $500 is nothing to Enterprise shareholders. That's a big bill for me, on top of an already expensive trip. I have been renting cars from this location for the past 4 years when visiting Houston from California. Every single time I come it is a new altered rule around the deposit. First it was the deposit is waived as long as you can show us proof of your returning flight. Second it was if you use a credit card instead of debit no deposit is required. Third it was thank you for using a credit card but we need the actual email for your flight information we can not accept the southwest app displaying your name and flight info as validation. Fourth we have to take a deposit even if you are using a credit card now unless you tell us you have a returning flight because we have some cars rented and not returned, so we don't offer this up front you need to ask. Fifth and final straw, thank you for your credit card but the day you are returning your car is two days before your flight so we have to charge you a deposit. I swear every single time it's a new rule about the deposit and no consistency regarding it, but I promise this will be my last time using them after being a loyal customer with so many points! I accidentally booked Enterprise for my National account from my most recent trip to Houston so I ended up picking up a car here. I was a little confused at first until I looked at my reservation, but Rachel at the desk, grab my reservation and took care of me. Unfamiliar with Enterprise. She literally walked me out to the lot picked out a car walked around to find dents and damages then help me fill out the paperwork correctly on my National account as I had to return it before Enterprise opened, so I had to return it to national, and she showed me the way to do it. I booked a reservation for a vehicle, received a confirmation, and when I got to the location, I waited 30 minutes for help. It was a Saturday, September 14, 2024, and very busy. This was the beginning of the problem, but I waited. After listening to the conversation with the customer in front of me, I knew there were issues. When I got to the counter, I was told the vehicle I reserved was not available but they could upgrade me, with a $400 deposit for a luxury vehicle. I was desperate since I had to be in Bastrop, TX for my brother's wake at 12:00pm. This was 9:00am. I waited 10 more minutes, and a guy walks up to help. He walks me out to the car bay, offers a Ford Edge suv, so I agreed. I just needed a vehicle. The vehicle I reserved had been rented before I got there. So the confirmation was useless. I handed him my card, he ran it, then asks if it's a debit card. I said yes. He said he needed a credit card which I had, but not with a balance to cover the $400 deposit required. So he said he'd void the charge. All that time spent, to drive away in my own vehicle. This wasn't even the biggest problem!! Three days later, I see a pending charge from my bank account for the vehicle I never rented - $79.57. So I called them. Today is October 2nd, and after 4 calls, told twice the issue would be expedited - I still haven't received my refund!! I was told the branch manager at Hobby Airport would have to make this right. The charge is stuck on pending status so my bank cannot move forward. It's showing as a void on the Enterprise side. I just need my refund - now! I will go to this branch by the end of the week, and speak to the manager in person by the end of the week if this is not corrected today. It's Weds. October 2 - almost 3 weeks to wait for a refund on a pending charge for a rental I never took off the lot!!! Beware of renting from this company if this is their policy on their errors I have been a customer for at least 15 years - someone needs to step up and make this right!! How can a transaction be voided but be stuck as a pending charge in my account? Or is it even voided at all? I have no contract since I took no vehicle from Enterprise that day, or any day. This charge will be reversed because I wasn't allowed to rent the vehicle I chose initially or to get a substitute without a deposit!! BTW- the guy in front of me - was told he would need to cough up a $1500 deposit for a luxury vehicle to accommodate himself, wife and 5 kids. The couple behind me were told there were no vehicles available- even with a confirmation. Someone needs to do a quality check for the Hobby Airport location- they have seriously dropped the ball fir me and at least two other families on that day alone. I watched the most unprofessional customer service agents at this location give this man a hard time when he had his company on the phone showed all the correct credentials. There was a customer who came in to pick up a car for his company to drive multiple employees to another state he stated he had picked up and dropped off at this location many many times show the ID had his company on the phone Boss and scheduler. The person behind the counter told him she could not give him the car that was already booked by the company in his name without a badge for that company. They have never asked me for a badge but it may be because my skin color is not the same or because they treated him with certain type of way because of his appearance. Well when I get there they say I couldn't use a Debit Card. It has to be a major credit card. I didn't know that. I have used this branch a few times and have never had any good experience. This time I reached my limit. I rented a car from this branch on 8/11 and want to see if I could return the car to a closer branch. I called the number that is printed on the contract. I have a screenshot of the contract that clearly shows the number (833) 511-1748. I knew that this is not the direct number to the location. I called the 833 number *three times* and specifically asked them to connect me to the local branch. Each time that my call got transferred to the Hobby branch I got cut off after a long hold period. The Hobby branch was in no mood to answer calls. Saturday night (8/12) I returned the car and told the assistant branch manager, some guy named DeVante, about this issue. He quickly got aggressive and hostile, not something you would expect from a supposed assistant manager. He told me that the corporate does not have the branch number and I had to call the number on the business card that was given to me during the initial check out. I don't think DeVante realizes how stupid he sounded claiming that the corporate doesn't have the branch number! For a moment, let's assume DeVante was right. What does this tell you about Enterprise?! They give you a number on the contract for contact but make it impossible to actually get in touch with them when you need them??? DeVante did not seem like a person I could trust to do the right thing so I asked for receipt and wanted to make sure I got it before I left. He supposedly emailed me the receipt and told me to wait 5-10 min. I waited 10 minute and didn't get it. When I asked for a printed one, he said the printer was broken. (Later, right in front of me, he told a lady co-worker that the branch is remodeling so the printer is not on, a different story than what he told me.) Finally, after 2 more emails and waiting another 20 minutes, I got something from Enterprise which looked exactly like my original contract and not a receipt. Enterprise can afford to hire ill-mannered people like DeVante simply because they are so big and have little competition and they don't care. The hours for this location are not convenient for anyone with a morning flight. I arrived to find that the location doesn't open until 7am and directs you to drop off at a different car rental company. They also indicate they are open until midnight yet also have a sign that says they are only open till 10pm. Returning to a different location at this airport is VERY difficult. The signs directing you to the various rental companies are VERY hard to read are hidden by trees and lead you to wrong locations and loop you all around. I know the city is responsible for this signs but they need to contact the city on this as these signs were some of the worst and most confusing I ever ever encountered. Additionally I know there is no official check in process to return a car. You just hand over the keys- which means this could have been much simpler if you just had a key drop process. But then you'd have to have a shuttle as the location near the airport is very far from the airport and from other rental locations. I had to drive around a very confusing airport looking for another company all because their hours are not convenient for anyone with a flight before 9am. And if the return process and wait times and lines is anything like the location I picked up from in Galveston, I would allow even more time. read more

Do NOT rent a car from this location if you can avoid it, and there are plenty of other options. I reserved a truck this week so I could haul some donations to Goodwill. My credit card was rejected because, it turns out, my bank made an error that I could have corrected by phone, but my phone battery had died AND ENTERPRISE WOULD NOT LET ME USE A PHONE OR PLUG A CHARGER INTO ITS OUTLETS. Since I'd taken an Uber to the rental office, I had to walk in near 100 degree heat to charge my phone and call my bank. I returned to the rental office, and they had rented out the truck I reserved to someone else and didn't have others. I've been a customer for over 30 years. The employees of this office either will not or are not permitted to extend common decency to their customers. They will offer you water in line because they've been told to, but they will not allow you to plug a charger into their outlet for a few minutes to complete a rental. A manager in the office confirmed that this was their stupid policy. This company doesn't want or need our business apparently. They certainly don't deserve it. Quick & simple process getting on the road. The longest time spent was actually shuttle rides between Hobby airport and the ERAC office because the rental lot is off site. It would've been convenient to pick up the car next to the luggage carousel, but this particular airport isn't set up that way. No big deal since shuttles run regularly between the airport and the rental office, so you're not waiting too long. When I first arrived, I did notice an available shuttle parked, so no waiting. With online reservations made well in advance, picking up and returning the car was a breeze under fifteen minutes each time. 5 weeks and 3729 miles logged in. I've patronized several Enterprises over the years & have never been treated as poorly as I was at this location. I was hit by a drunk driver & insurance paid for my rental vehicle while mine was fixed. This was in the middle of the holidays & it took a while to get my repair completed. Many locations I called were low in inventory. I drive a luxury vehicle & the vehicle I was stuck with was very basic. It barely had heat & it was 30-40 degrees out. When I asked about switching cars, I was given the third degree interrogation by the young blond female employee who came out first. I explained what I was looking for & she asked me about Enterprise's rates...I'm the client she should know this info already, or find another employee who does. She then proceeds to go inside & sends out the manager, a young Hispanic gentleman who simply asked, 'what's wrong with the car?' Instead of updating the manager before sending him to me, the first employee sent him out like a bouncer. It felt like profiling just because I asked about a specific type of vehicle that is comparable to what I normally drive. She clearly did not communicate to him what I had asked & sent him out to try to intimidate me. I was not going to explain myself over again & the employees had made up their minds that I had ill intentions. I am clean cut & they could look up my reservation in the system, not sure why they treated me like a criminal for asking a question. We watched several people ahead of us arriving from their flights also be told their reservation did not result in an actual car rental. Just know, reserving a car in their online system apparently does not reflect the actual rental location and they will not let you know in a timely manner. The folks at the car center processed the large group coming off the shuttle efficiently and we were quickly into our car. The vehicle we reserved was a small SUV, but what we got was a very small car. It was functional but not well suited for Houston freeways. The manager worked with us and provided a discount. I booked reservations from a third party website (Priceline) and glad I never had problem with Enterprise especially traveling around US. This is one of the easiest experience I've had with my husband. We landed 3:30pm and our reservation was 4pm. We got here, there were long line and we totally understand due to Covid also budget cut so there were 1 guy worked in front of checking in station. I wish I would've remembered his name but he was so nice, calm and professional even though there were so many people. Top it all, we got a brand new car and we were the first one to use this rental car. It was 2021 Nissan Rogue! My husband is a BMW guy and he loved it also said we should buy the same ones (I can't believe it). When we returned the car, the process was also quick and painless, all took 10mins top! There is a reason why this location has so many low reviews. The general staff is friendly, but management is unapologetic, not resourceful and generally ill-equipped to be in customer relations and in a managerial role. After calling the 1-800 number and being told that I could swap out cars at the Hobby airport location, I headed over. Upon arrival the gentleman that greeted me was very warm and friendly. I needed to exchange vehicles because the one I was given was full of pet hair, thus causing me to have an allergic reaction. The manager, Danya Schnur, informed me that they had no vehicles available and that I would need to return tomorrow. I informed her that I could not use that vehicle again as I have already been to urgent care due to an allergic reaction. She proceeded to tell me there was nothing she could do. I asked could she call another location and see if they had any vehicles. She said no. However, she did offer to email IAH. I asked her why did the 1-800 number tell me they had vehicles, she stated they have no visibility of their inventory. I then asked could they clean the vehicle. Again, I was met with a no. At no time, did she try to rectify the situation. As I waited for an email response from IAH (which I knew would never come), I decided to give my employer a call and reserve a vehicle with a different rental company. While I was awaiting a response, several other customers came in and received vehicles. I understand they have reservations but to add insult to injury a gentlemen came in and requested a vehicle swap and he was given one. When I booked a vehicle with another company I asked for a ride across the street to the company. I was told the shuttle could take me to the airport and then I could get a ride to the other company. I exclaimed that this was unacceptable. Then, Danya stated that one of her drivers could take me. I do not expect specialized service or attention, but one would think that management would put more effort towards assisting a customer whose employer regularly rents tens of thousands of vehicles for months at a time. I had a 90 day rental, but have since canceled my reservation and moved my business to Budget. My daughter left her iPad in the car and I immediately tried to call this location. Not possible as you apparently can't call any location. So I called their customer service and filed a claim. Was told someone from the location would call me back. Nope. That didn't happen. We filed a lost claim. What should have been a straightforward resolution to locate an item we left behind was a nightmare. Not only is Enterprise so dysfunctional that it is impossible for me to speak with anyone at a location, going through all available routes proved to be completely useless since no one at the Hobby location ever attempted to find our item, or they lied about not finding it. We filed a lost claim online, only to be "updated" that our item could not be located. Which was complete bullshit since it was sitting there the entire time as I can track it's location. I had to pay a friend of a friend to drive to the location and pick it up and ship it back. I assume your employees would have just waited for me to go away so they could keep it. I hope this review is for the Enterprise at Hobby Airport. I'm surprised by the negative reviews when I have consistently had such a great experience with them. I travel to Houston quite a bit and have been ripped off by many of the other companies at Hobby Airport. It was so bad to the point where I would see employees laughing at me after they talked me into payiNg twice the amount I should have been paying.. They took advantage of the fact that I was new to the whole rental car thIng and was clueless. Now that I know better, I won't trust anyone but Enterprise. They are direct and upfront with the charges. There are no hidden fees, what they quote you upon picking up your car will be the amount you pay when dropping it off. Customer service is above and beyond other places too. You can tell they are serious about taking care of you. They are very friendly, professional, courteous and helpful. They give me upgrades without charge when possible and the cars are all clean and in great, like new condition. I love the Enterprise shuttle to and from the airport, too. It is always a super quick transfer, never have to wait and the drivers are super friendly and helpful. Great experience every time! After every trip, I get a phone call from their Customer Service verifying the amount I was charged and asked if I had any concerns or questions. I have rented from Enterprise every single time I've had to rent a vehicle, even with friends at this location some time ago, because of their easy process and customer service. Unfortunately that has changed due to my most recent experience at the Hobby airport location. Prior to arriving to Houston, I called Enterprise several times to make sure I can use my debit card for my reservation instead of my credit card and was told each time I could, I just needed to provide my departure confirmation number. When I arrived to the establishment, there was no one at the desk to help me. Minutes later a worker came in and said he'd be right with me. Waited 20-25 more minutes, along with several other customers. Jason took my info and pulled up my reservation and low and behold he advises I need a credit card for my reservation. I told Jason several times I called to avoid any mishaps. Jason was very unbothered and useless and said there was nothing he could do. He goes on to say he prefers a credit card because anybody can just cancel a debit. At that point I became VERY offended. As many times as I've rented from Enterprise, I've never felt this disrespected. Why in tarnations would I ever cancel my card to not pay for something I've reserved. I felt like that comment was very unprofessional and embarrassing in front of several other customers. Long story "short" we were given a smaller vehicle that wasn't clean and after driving off the lot, the oil maintenance light comes on. At this time Enterprise is closed. If there is a way to give less than 1 Star the experience I had last night would have warranted it. I had made a reservation (Your confirmation number is 1621697075) for an SUV for 9 pm. Our flight had a delayed and we arrived at the counter via the shuttle at 9:30 pm. The manager working there looked up my reservation and said they have no cars for me. I thought he meant he did not have an SUV available, but he said, they had literally no cars at all at this location or at any branches in Houston. I told him I had a confirmed reservation so how come there was no vehicle put aside for me? He said well your reservation was for 9 pm and now it's 9:30 pm. I told him that I cannot believe that they would not honor my reservation because of 30 minutes. Besides, my reservation included my flight number so they would have known that my flight had a slight delay? He then told me well because I made a same day reservation there is no guarantee that I would have a car since it's first come first served. I told him that this made no sense to me at all. If same day is not available why would the system allow me to make a reservation and confirmed it. Not only that, it sent me text messages to pre-fill paperwork so that when I arrive I can just pick up the vehicle and go. It was going to make the process seamless. I did all that, just to find out that all the work was for nothing since they don't honor reservations. I told him that as a Gold member, I have been loyal with Enterprise, but I cannot believe that Enterprise would reward my loyalty this way. He said it didn't matter if you are a gold member or someone who is using Enterprise for the first time, everyone is treated the same. Wow! What's the point of being a loyal customer? He then had the nerve to tell me that they tried to contact me to let me know there would be no car available. I asked him to confirm the time and phone number because my cell phone did not register any calls from Enterprise. I however received texts to ask me to prefix paperwork for the rental pass that I would show at the counter to simplify things when I get there. Well, he couldn't confirm the time the call. So, not only as it frustrating that my reservation was not honored, it was a slap on the face for this guy to lie to me and tried to blame me. The integrity of Enterprise is now in jeopardy with me. There is one thing for not honoring my reservation, but to try and pin excuses and reasons on the customer by lying is unacceptable. Although about 1 hour later, they somehow found a mini van for us after we already got a friend to come get us. The experience left me completely lost trust in Enterprise and their company's integrity. They did not offer me anything that would regain my trust in Enterprise again. I will be taking my business to Avis in the future. Since I always used Avis for work travels and never once have had this issue. The issue with not having a vehicle you reserved for is one thing, but the multiple lies were unacceptable. read more
